I was so excited for Halo 4 until I just learned that more and more that it is losing that feel of Classy Halo.
And then learning more and more that it feels like Halo Reach.
Halo 1 2 and 3 made me feel like I stopped at the Arcade of the Universe. It was an endless experience, and (for me at least) every game after the other only got more and more fun.
Halo 3 was the benchmark of the Halo 3 Classic feel. The art style and feel of Halo 3 is as far as they should have gone. Halo 1-3 felt like an arcade game because first off it looked fun to play and it WAS SO FUN TO PLAY ALSO!
All those games that try to push realism never really attracted me. You could imagine me playing Ratchet and Clank and Jak and Daxter in my childhood. Call of Duty rolls around in 2008 and I must admit it was fun, but the only reason I ever came back to Halo 3 is because of how much more strategic it was (That was the fun part, dodging nades, and placing your own nades, and lining up headshots with a BR, and then rocking a corner with a shotgun, and just endless, yet unique, thought processes of how to take out the opponent), and then another big part of what kept me hooked on Halo was that feel of just⦠an arcade game⦠I loved the art style of the Military: Very traditional, not futuristic and realistic to that Time (2500) making it seem like a lot more of a fantasy.
I loved all those great Badass Dialogues too from Halo 1-3 (mostly Halo 2 though )
I will admit that I am glad that Halo 4 requires strafing, But both Feelistically (made up that word right now) and Gameplaystically, this game will disappoint I am not hear to complain and put flames in all of your ears, neither am I trying to fix this game since I know my words are nothing but a pathetic plea. Just please, let me post this and express that I am deeply sad that I will never get to re-experience Halo again like I did with the first trilogy (which, before the details rolled in, is exactly what I was expecting).

I must disagree with you. From everyone who has played this game and everyone I have talked to says this game feels way more like Halo 3 than Reach. It has some of Reachās mechanics but it looks and feels more like Halo 3. Movement speed and jump height is increased. Strafe is back and the game is looking really fun. Before you dismiss it, play the game then form an accurate opinion. If you still dislike it then, at least you can say you gave it a shot! I just think you are judging this game too soon.
A lot of people have said this is the best Halo to date and even MLG has enjoyed playing it.
I think Halo 4 does look āfunā, isnāt fun being able to call in your Ordnance Drop, playing with a large and balanced sandbox, having generous amounts of customization at your disposal?
Campaign looks extremely promising, itās a fresh and brand new experience, just like when you popped in that Halo: CE disk.
Overall I like it.

What is this? I donāt evenā¦
Youāre saying that halo was an arcade basically, what? Nostalgia, and a bunch of other stuff that donāt exactly make sense⦠Please rephraseā¦
For your information, halo 4 has a halo2/3 feel, ask those who played it.
and whatās so bad about being Halo: Reach?
(in before people who hate the game copy and paste everything that was in the game in an attempt to be funny)

Oh, I didnāt know you got the game early and already are a seasoned veteran. Because you can totally tell that at this point the game will disappoint. Seems Legit.

I had no idea you could predict the future with such clarity and insight. Tell me more about how this game will surely disappoint.

You donāt give up, do you?
Halo: Reach didnāt have the same feeling Halo 1-3 did. Itās as simple as that. There were a ton of mechanics that didnāt sit well with a lot of people. (at least, the people I talk to)

The only thing Reach didnāt have was the Flood. and a lot of people complained about those, āFloodā levels.
I think the āfeelā you are criticizing canāt be judged effectively until you have actually played the game at home on your couch. Criticism of game mechanics, graphics quality, weapons, etc. can be judged somewhat objectively based upon watching gameplay, but the āfeelā you describe isnāt as easily experienced until you actually experience the game in the comfort of your home.
I define āfeelā as the overall experience of a game, the sum of all itās parts. Sure, there may be some parts that donāt appeal to you, but if itās the overall package that matters to you, the only way to judge that is to play the game thoroughly. We wonāt have that opportunity till November.
that reminds me!
i played the Demo, even as an early build it was just⦠orgasmic.
its kinda like Halo 3 with loadouts⦠well, it kinda hard to explain but its amazing.
i think u should just stop with the complaining and embrace it for what it is. people who like the orginal trilogy so much will play them. i personally think the change was needed.
anyways⦠its like Halo Reachās basics, with Halo 3ās awesomeness.
I agree with Austin7934 . I know people that went to RTX and E3 and they all were on the fence about halo 4 and afraid of the āunproven 343iā. However I havent met a SINGLE person who played halo 4 that said it was bad. Everyone is saying it plays like evolved version of classic halo. Literally the logical evolution of halo.
Halo 4 is beating the pre orders for black ops 2 on the Xbox 360 and PS3 COMBINED. Cod a multiplatform game is losing to Halo a single platform game lol. The reason i mention this is because cod has the casual audience on lockdown for the past years yet Halo 4 out of the blue is defeating it. Theres almost nothing left that Halo needs to prove itself in. Campaign, forge, multiplayer all look fantastic. And there are millions anxiously awaiting its release.
I really do feel sorry for those who cant enjoy what Halo has become but it doesnt really matter at the end of the day lol the extreme minority that STILL doesnt like halo 4 will just have to simply move on to another FPS cause the vast majority are loving halo 4ās look, feel, play style and new features and cant wait to play it. Millions of people will buy and enjoy Halo 4 and this is the FIRST TIME in many years that a COD game didnt have the 1st place in pre orders.
> One key difference to the game is the emphasis on teamplay. The audition of the augments and close-quarters-focused level design make teamplay feel perfect and normal deathmatch a bit awkward. This is a shame since it tarnishes Haloās legacy in multiplayer gaming, but it also builds something new in its place. Deathmatch isnāt gone, but it just doesnāt feel the same with the augments. Iām open to this change since I enjoy Halo 4 so much, but I can see some loyal fans having a hard time adjusting to the change of pace and more cerebral approach to combat. Accuracy will still get you far, but itās not the only valuable skill in this game.
Loyal fans will not have a hard time adjusting to a faster game and more cerebral approach to combat if the new additions ACTUALLY do that. Halo 1 and Halo 2 were fast-paced cerebral games at a high level.I dont see how Promeathean vision and calling in ordinance drops is more ācerebralā than before but maybe thats because I actually know how Halo works unlike this author. Not to say loadouts could not add strategy, but it has yet to be seen whether or not they will enhance team-play and strategy rather than just cheapen the game like Reach loadouts did.
