This game is great and weill get a sequel

I have played this game many times and I can say that this game will undoubtedly get a great sequel that will break records and set a new standard
for RPG’s on Xbox One. In fact it is still setting the standard for Xbox 360. 343 would be mad to not make a sequel for this great RPG game. I play StarCraft on my pc and I will tell you that Halo Wars has lots potential and if they do it right, and will be the ultimate RPG on Xbox One forever. 343 I believe in you, Make 2015 a day to remember and launch the greatest RPG game that Microsoft has ever known, Halo Wars 2

Will get a sequel* I apologize

RTS, not RPG. Skyrim, Neverwinter Nights, Diablo are RPGs. Starcraft, Command and Conquer, Halo Wars are RTSs.

RPG = Role Playing Game
RTS = Real Time Strategy

Dear reader,
Check the post I made in the HW2 PC thread.

You are correct in saying Halo Wars was a great game. However, we will likely NOT get a sequel.

Or rather, if we do, it probably won’t be as good. Ensemble Studios (who made Halo Wars) disbanded in 2009, not long after the HW’s release.

There were multiple companies created by the former Ensemble employees, Robot Entertainment, Bonfire Studios (renamed Zynga Dallas), Newtoy Inc (renamed Zynga With Friends), and Windstorm Studios (closed in 2012).

I hope for a sequel, but I doubt it.

My thoughts exactly.

Thank you for being realistic, there needs to be more of that here.

To be honest halo wars is a pretty casual RTS, it was designed so that halo fans could easily play it but by no means is it bad. You don’t need ensemble studios to make a halo wars game, the are other studios that would be more than willing to make a halo wars 2 if asked. Halo wars 2 is the highest selling console strategy, Microsoft would make a halo wars 2 but they would probably wait next year so there is a new halo game to play for 2015

I’m not so sure other companies would be willing to make a second Halo Wars. Other than Halo Wars, RTS games have never really worked on console. I don’t know if a company wants to risk making an RTS game on the console, simply for the fact that history has not been kind to them, with the exception of Halo Wars.

Halo Wars came out in 2009, 5 years ago, so our chances of a sequel are getting slim. It wouldn’t surprise me if Microsoft had asked about companies making a second Halo Wars, but I think you might be hard pressed to find a company willing to accept the challenge.

And this pretty much sums up Halo Wars 2 and why it won’t happen.

RTS is just plain hard to make on a console. The genre itself was (and is) built around PC. Halo Wars was good for a console, but to be honest it isn’t terribly complex (or as fun) when compared to something on the PC.

The whole “casual” RTS idea is hard to pull off, and as you said, hasn’t exactly had the best history on Xbox.

Development companies don’t worry about a game not becoming a massive success since most of the funding is from the publisher, also developers only get like 10-20% of the profits.

Game companies would jump at the chance at making a halo game because it’s like a golden ticket to prove you are a good company like double helix making a killer instinct game.

A halo wars 2 would come out in 2015 because they need to a least one halo game a year

2007-halo 3
2008- halo odst
2009-halo wars
2010- halo reach
2011-halo CE anniversary
2012- halo 4
2013- spartan assault
2014 halo X1

You do realize how long games take to develop fully, right?

BF4 is a good example of a rushed game when EA drove DICE into the ground. Keep this in mind.

Well seeing how halo wars came out in 2009 so it’s fair to say that Microsoft would probably have someone developing it right now. Also Microsoft isn’t EA and halo wars isn’t an FPS so there is no need to rush it to beat cod.

Correlation does not imply causation

Chances are higher that Halo Xbox One is Halo 2 Anniversary and and 2015 is Halo 5.

I wouldn’t expect another Halo Wars for until 2016 if at all, as much as I would love to see it.

That being said, assuming Halo Wars 2 does release in 2016, they will have a massive amount of new vehicles, support options, factions, and leaders to work with. Assuming they put the proper team or get Robot Entertainment to work on it, Halo Wars 2 could easily blast the first one away in terms of awesomeness.

Man I remember when Bad Company 2 released. It released in March, was completely polished up, was a 100% great game and the VIP pass included a ton of free maps and only costed $15 otherwise. EA needs to let the BF v CoD competition go and just make the best darn game they can…sorry that was off topic, but it took me back to when games were beautifully polished.

Yeah, those were the days. I don’t really like this new “rush-or-bust” kind of mentality.

It’s perfectly on topic; it’s a reminder that good things come to those who are patient.

Halo 3: ODST came out in 2009, roughly 6 months after Halo Wars. No Halo game came out in 2008.

I highly doubt this game will ever get a sequel. SA is close enough, granted it’s a OTS, but it has elements relating to wars (grizzly, mysterious covy vehicle wreckage, and a storyline that includes halo characters but does not tie into any of the games). Wars was fun, yes, but it broke copyright. Play through the game, there is no sign of the originating company, Bungie at the time, through the entire game. Besides, the main character dies, arby died, and the prophet (pardon if I’m wrong haven’t done campaign in forever) died. There goes 3 of the major characters driving the game, what would they have left to go on? If they do, however, I hope it is not one of those “well palmer and forge had a kid, now he carries the task in game 2” kind of cliches.

Prophet didn’t die in the HW campaign, but he did die in Halo 2.

No it didn’t. Microsoft Games Studios (now just Microsoft Studios) has always owned the Halo franchise.

There’s plenty of fodder for a sequel. Capt. Cutter and Dr. Anders were still alive along with the majority of the UNSC Spirit of Fire’s crew at the game’s conclusion. The Prophet of Regret didn’t die either (until Halo 2).

Even so it’s not like they couldn’t make a sequel with an entirely new cast of characters. Building upon the original’s gameplay is what people really demand.
