This game is extremely hard.

I’ve been playing Halo for over 10 years and this one, out of all of them, seems to be the hardest. Whenever I play MCC (especially Halo 4) or Reach, I have no problem going positive by a good many kills. In Halo 4, I could easily get 30 kills a game in Slayer. Halo 5, however, is different. I struggle to simply break even or go positive in ranked, but I have no problem doing good in social. BTB is like the other Halo’s; easy. Ranked, however, is extremely difficult. I think it may be due to the fact that I always play alone and I often get matched against parties because in 1v1 gun fights, I do fine; it’s the fact that it’s usually 1vX. And in BTB, because the maps are big and open, most of my gun fights are 1v1’s. In any case, is it just me or is this Halo a lot harder than the others, at least for ranked?

Yeah it you don’t have a regular team to play with in the 4v4 ranked playlist you are really fighting an up hill battle. But H5 ranked is harder than previous ranked titles IMO. I am big into FFA and H5 ranked FFA is ever bit as difficult if not more so that H3 lone wolves. H5 is arguably the most competitive Halo we have ever had. I don’t have a team so I stick to FFA in ranked playlist.

I go positive without a problem. Maybe more training is necessary.

That’s because Halo 5’s idea of balance is unbalance, in Halos Reach and 4 you had to pick your weapons carefully before charging into a firefight, in Halo 5 EVERY weapon is classified as a power weapon, and for good reason, all the weapons just drain your life in a matter of seconds, doesn’t really make me feel like a super badass space marine, more like an average everyday modern times marine.

Disagree big time… You have to know what weapon is effective for what situation more so now than before. Every weapon filling a niche and can be effective is the definition of balance. Halo before was essentially get BR ignore other weapons cause they are useless.

It’s difficult to come on this forum and stat that you are having a hard time playing by yourself without the usual “get a fire team” comment followed. What I don’t think people understand is, even with a 12 man team, the inability for the most part to enjoy the game on a pseudo-casual-competitive level is really the reason why Halo 5 is not fun.

You don’t have to have a team to enjoy this game. I don’t have a team and I enjoy H5 a lot. The OP is just saying how much harder H5 is compared to previous titles and in some ways it is.

That’s my point entirely, Halo is about getting to the BR not having your entire aresenal from the get-go, it’s about exploring the map for an UNLABELED Power Weapon to assist your teammates, not just going in gung-ho style like I see literally all over Halo 5.

Halo 4 was basically an AR game only for me. Just rush really hard, shoot them like 5 times with the AR, then punch them. Boom. 30+ kill game. I like the competitive aspect of H5, I just wish it wasn’t always me vs 2-3-4 other people at once.

whenever i try to play halo 3 again i find the aiming hard as heck. I think its just on what you got used to.

Then explain Halo 4 when you can spawn with the BR because of Loadouts? Same thing with power weapons being labelled on the map?

And that very thing exists in Halo 5. Not every power weapon is labelled.

You don’t have an arsenal from the get go though. I like being able to use multiple weapons now. Halo being a one gun game before was pretty stale. Why even have other weapons on the map that are essentially useless?

I’d have to agree with LethalQ. H5 seems to have the best weapon balance period. In H2 and H3, the BR was the master key to all situations. Close range, mid range, long range, just spam the BR and you’ll get something eventually. Reach COULD have had good weapon balance, but they made the magnum useless and added bloom which in turn made shooting more about about luck than anything. In H5, every weapon has its place (however I do wish that the magnum was slightly tweaked so it’d be less effective at long range). The AR and SMG can easily beat a DMR or BR in close range (as they should be able to), the BR is most effective at short to med ranges, DMR is best at mid to long range. That is the proper hierarchy and it is the one that is employed in H5 that we’ve never really seen before.

Halo 5 is actually a much harder game when factoring in all the Spartan abilities. There are so many combinations to use your abilities to outmaneuver an opponent.

Halo 5 does seem to be a lot more faced paced than previous titles. That might contribute to the perceived difficulty (Not to mention the 1vs1 becoming 1vs4 within seconds when playing against a coordinated team). But I would have to say, I do greatly appreciate that the battle rifle isn’t the end-all-be-all weapon in Halo 5 like it was in all other Halo games (The exception, of course, being the original Halo which had the over powered pistol instead of the battle rifle). I also have to say that I also really enjoyed the bloom in Halo: Reach. At longer distances, I had to pace my shots just right, and crouching while shooting did indeed aid in those shots.

Is that on the 360 or in the MCC? Because Halo 3 in the MCC has some really annoying bullet issues, you have to lead your shots half a mile ahead of your enemies.

Erm.

That’s how Halo 3 works on the Xbox 360 as well. That’s what projectile aiming does.

Erm.

I stand corrected, I spose. It didn’t seem that bad to me when I played it the other day. I’ll have to pay more attention.

Halo 3 has no hitscan so you have to lead your shots with everything.

I may have had a bit to much plum wine but let me explain my take as I think about it more… The “classic” Halo is sort like boxing. While challenging you were limited in your offence and defence really. H5 is more like MMA, way more offense and defense options to use. Now it’s pretty much opinion and preference on which takes “more skill” or “more difficult”… And expert in one particular style or some one who has to be proficient in many styles… If that makes any sense…
