This game is essentially perfect

It gets tiresome listening to the “well, why didn’t they…” topics on the forums.

Man, this game is so dam solid in almost every faucet. The MP is so slick and smooth. The feeling of the weight of the sound (OMG the sound) just pulls me in. Every weapon feels so solidified in its own right.

This game feels almost too good. I’ve been a halo dork since CE and have taken off work for every release since but this game is so much better. It’s so … Solid. Every kill feels right. Every death feels right. It seems so perfect to me.

My second son was born recently so I had a hiatus and I fired it up recently and I’m like… GD… This is nirvana.

Putting story aside… Cortana yada yada. Chief yada yada. I’m talking pure gameplay and the weight of the sound (not volume, weight).

This game is a thing of beauty I’ll never stop playing when I have a few minutes. 343 and team have crushed it in my opinion.

I’ve had many nights of LAN parties in BC with CE and yes that luck grenade to flip the warthog was incredible. But you can’t compare that time to this time. That was 15 years ago. Those moments are their own. No reason to recreate them in 2016.

Pure gameplay, graphics, sound, and what makes up what Halo is in 2016… This is a 10. Easily.

Thanks 343.

Have you recorded some of your best moments in this game? Most of my gameDVR is Halo 5.

The game certainly plays well and is enjoyable. My biggest issue with it (which mostly applies to BTB) is that the BR can get 4 shots at too far of a range. It seems like the BR generally had too much range and that you are never safe at anytime. Overall I do enjoy the game though

Not sure, if you’re trolling or just deluded.

Gotta appreciate that pinhole sniper accuracy the br has!

This game is far from perfect

I like it a lot as well! Can’t stop playing it.

Halo 5 is the best looking, most competitive, and most balanced Halo to date in my opinion. Yeah, OP, this game does play extremely smooth and fast, and I love every minute of it!

Or he’s just content with the game he purchased.

only problem with this game is the story but in the end im not going to play hundreds of hours on campaign im going to play hundreds of hours on multiplayer.
so campaign aside id give this game 9.8/10 IMO (-0.2 for no split screen).

Gameplay in Arena is tight.
Loving Halo 5 for that. Couldn’t be much better.

Still need more maps however. 10 Maps, and 10 remixes of each for Team Arena should do it. Then add good quality forge maps to buff it up to 26+ or so maps and you would have the best Arena experience Halo had ever had.

Warzone is a unbalanced frustrating mess however. Rarely have fun getting stomped on. Teams snowball out of control most games.
Campaign was the worst. Stupid AI, Warden fights, rubbish plot, deceiving marketing (hell, Hunt The Truth had a better storyline).

Best Arena for any Halo game
Worst Campaign in any Halo game.
That’s my vote.

halo 5 is nowhere near perfect. Everyone’s entitled to their own opinions, but there are things (many things) that the older halos factually did much better. But if you do like halo 5, congrats to you.

No it’s not perfect but I will say it’s a great game (story aside) best multiplayer and gameplay in Halo history in my opinion.

Yeah it’s good to see a post that isn’t whining and complaining for a change. You are of course correct, Halo 5s multiplayer is easily the best in the series so far. It’s so damn addictive, I’ve logged tons of hours of gameplay and can’t put it down.

I did spend a ton of time on Halo 2 and 3, but 5 just has so much more going for it. And I can never go back to those older games, I feel so limited. Halo 5 is a thinkers game as it gives you more options to climb around the map and outsmart your opponent, rather than just strafing side to side like in the older titles.

Clearly the only troll here is you. You insult people who don’t share the same opinion as you, that’s no argument at all.

It can’t be perfect if you outright ignore the lacking story and launch content. I do really like the moment-to-moment gameplay, too, though. A shame other aspects of the game aren’t of that quality. Except for Forge which is just wow.

Agreed

I don’t agree. While there is some stuff that this game got right, I’d say that overwhelmingly it got things wrong. From the campaign lacking to the introduction of Spartan Abilities it just doesn’t work for a Halo game.

Halo was and should a simple game, where it’s easy to play but hard to master. Spartan Abilities and the weird decision to decrease the aim assist and increase the bullet magnetism add an unnecessarily high level of entry, and only serve to make fights frustrating and random. The increase in automatic weapon power, especially at mid range, makes the combat uninteresting, and the fast kill times don’t allow you to react, essentially turning the game into a twitch shooter.

They took the extreme that was Halo 4 and completely turned it on it’s head. In the guise of “skill-gap” they made a game that is only frustrating to play. They turned a series that is well known for it’s excellent vehicle play and turned it into a 4v4 arena shooter exclusively, only to shoe-horn in vehicle play after the fact in a way that makes BTB feel horrible to play. Classic social and competitive playlists and gametypes have yet to actually be in the game, and those that have are only ever there for a week, only to disappear into obscurity for who knows how long? It’s only so much fun to play the same couple of gametypes over and over on maps that are all roughly the same size and that don’t offer anything truly unique from one another. Instead of having awesome moments that stand out for years all of Halo 5 has bended into a mess of nothingness. The REQ system has destroyed all incentive to actually have a goal. Halo 5 sucks.

There is one thing that shines through though. Forge and its consistent support is absolutely amazing and has set the bar for how community support in a game should work. They listen to the community so that we can enjoy the game the way that we want, and add features and options to allow us to do things that we never dreamed possible. If only the multiplayer team worked has hard as Tom French and his team at implementing the amazing things that the community has done into the game in a way that is accessible. At least that way the community could support the game and turn it into a fun and enjoyable experience.

Man quit your damn crying!!! If you just wanna play the some old stuff from 2001 then go ahead and play the same old stuff from 2001. This game is fun, if you can’t adjust to the changes then take a damn hike or git gud SUCKA!!!

I can’t disagree with some comments the OP made. It’-Yoink!- and miss though. The multi player was great, but something changed. We get lag, very unbalanced teams etc. But, when we do get good connections and balanced teams it is great. I cannot say it’s essentially perfect either. I feel we lost a lot along the way. I’ll go for 7.5 out of 10
Sorry OP, can’t agree 100 % as opinions vary.
