This game is a short living one.

Anyone who has reached top level in a game will tell you the loss of progression takes a majority of the want to play away, i have reached this level and i have found myself playing less and focusing on other games, the problem is there isn’t enough levels in the game and they aren’t hard enough to reach.

Within a day i got for SR127 to SR130 not by exploiting Spartan ops or boosting but by playing slayer and getting these massive weekly challenges, i mean come on at the start the weekly challenges were challenging such as winning 117 games for 11700xp that was a challenge, now we have win 30 games for 30000xp, this is a major problem if the top ranks are the same as the last ranks in the previous specialization.

I agree that the ranking systems in previous halo games were too large in scale, but is it really hard to sort out a real system, true skill would be nice to see it allowed progression through playlists and an over all rank.

This game has many problems that need addressed but the ranking is a major one, it keeps us working at the game and in turn extends the life of the game.

Stuff like new armor would be nice too, because very little armor is nice IMO, you could add it to the new system or the updated old one.

Agreed. I haven’t touched the game in months, because it just wasn’t fun. No real weapon balance, the DMR was a super weapon and could compete with power weps. The immense amount of vehicle spawns per map made things frustrating. And last, but not least, 343 wasn’t giving a damm about the complaints. So I gave up on the game.
The fact I didn’t have a 50 to work towards, and real motivation to win a match (I always did my best regardless though, I just didn’t push it over the top.) because I knew I was going to get the same amount of XP whether I won or lost didn’t help either.
TL;DR Game is broke. Needs fixing.

I play counter strike a lot and it doesn’t have a ranking system -___- and that game requires more skill. I don’t see people complaining of a ranking system on Counter strike. Also Halo ce and Halo 2 were broken. Pistol in halo ce was over powered and was teh go to weapon, Halo 2 brr and button glicthes were rampant in halo 2 along with the hackers. Halo 2 is more broken then halo 4 and halo ce’s pistol wants a word with you.

I noticed you forgot halo 3 in that mix, CE and 2 have nothing to do with 4 because 4 is supposed to be the next step up from 3, however what we have here is regression rather than progression, i do allow some problems to slip off the shoulders of 343 as Microsoft forced the game out even though it wasn’t fully completed.

every game has a go to weapon it is rather hard to completely balance weapon sets, the problem isn’t the DMR imo it is the other load-out weapons, none are worth using, i used to love the carbine in H3 but that has sadly gone out the window now as i can’t take down more than one player without having to reload.

Comparing H4 to H2 the ranking system worked, the problem i have with the system is it is too easy to rank up why even have the system if i can just fly through it.

343i made it easier because people complained that Reach took too long to level. Now they’ve shortened it considerably. I personally feel that Halo 4 is a progression simply by the fact that it is much more fun for me than Reach could ever be. Just my 2 cents.

If the only reason you are playing is to rank up then you have the problem. Not the game. I do not care about ranking up. After I hit 50 and had to specialize I picked a few that I wanted to get first for the perks but most of them afterwards are just there to be there. I play because playing is fun. I do not care about the ranks because they were never the reason I played to begin with

I play to play, I could give a crap less about ranks.

Whatever. I am SR 130, I haven’t stopped playing Halo 4, and I never will.

Anyone else remember a time, when people played games online, just for the sake of playing?

> Whatever. I am SR 130, I haven’t stopped playing Halo 4, and I never will.

<— me too!

Try the Weapons Mastery or other commendations. I guarantee you’ll find some of them challenging.

That being said I agree, Credits should be worth something for the life of the game. I thought this would be a readily learned lesson from Reach, but no joy. At least in Reach you had to work extra hard for the Onyx commendations and Inheritor Rank. H4 commendation thresholds are far smaller, and that’s not exactly a good thing.

I would like a ranked playlist ( which is coming ) but I could care less about it being visible to everyone else, it is just a personal goal to raise the number and I am fine with that.

I would like to see my Spartan animation after the game though. Between this and Reach I have gotten used to seeing my animated Spartan after a match. That’s my only issue with hitting SR130, and it is a really minor, nitpicky, pointless thing to bring up, and I am kinda ashamed I did…but I am going to anyway.

OP… Do you think perhaps your “problem” might be that you are concerned with reaching some sort of self-imposed finishing line much more so than wanting to complete any type of journey available within the game?

How many commendations do you have maxed out?

I completely agree with this post. If everyone got to 130 rank and there was no intention of adding for ranks then why would i play this game? unless for a random night with friends or for commendations I just dont see what they were thinking if 343 wants “the most expensive xbox game ever made” to last online…

This is what CoD kiddies have done to Halo…
“no more ranks! NOW THERES NO POINT IN PLAYING THE GAME!”

This game is alright, nothing major that can’t be fixed in an update and true skill is coming soon anyway.
Outside of flood mode being lacking compared to infection and custom game options i have no real gripes with it.

reach and halo 3 ranks were much better

Seen this thread so many time, and it always gets the same response.

‘Anybody remember a time when we didn’t play for rank but just for fun?’
Yes, most of us do. However, now most games give that little added bonus. If you’re on the fence about what game to play, you’ll want to play the one where you can feel you are progressing. Some of you only play Halo, and that’s fine, but some of us like to play multiple games.

‘How many commendations do you have?’
Okay, not all of them, but please, am I really going to play an entirely unjoyable amount of games to get my thousands of PP kills? To kill one wraith ever 3-4 games? No, that takes grinding to a whole new level.

We aren’t asking for much. Who’s toes are we stepping on by asking for a level increase? Simple keep the 121-130 system and don’t put a cap on it. Or maybe a higher, harder to reach cap like 200. No one gets hurt from including that, and it’s a simple process of allowing the exp scaling to exceed the usual 10 ranks of a specialization.

The fact that even Monitors seem to talk down to us is disappointing.
People play games in different ways. If we enjoy playing the game, but play it in a different way, why are we lesser people for it?

I remember the good old days where you didn’t need pretty numbers and experience beside your name to enjoy playing halo. The ranking system would be nice but I could care less about leveling up past 130 this is halo not Pokemon.

I suspect that even after a ¨ranked system¨ people will complain all the more.
I see thread after tread about ¨How good I am, I have to carry the whole team because my teammates are no good.¨ So when a ranking system comes out egos will shatter for a lot of those so called ¨Pros¨ of the game, and theyll return to waypoint and cry ¨I was at SR130. How in the wide wide world of sports did I drop to the bottom of the ranks? This system is broke, and I refuse to play it anymore.¨ < People please note the quotation marks and remember said examples. For after a ranking system comes. Thats exactly what youll begin seeing on waypoint forums.

I hit max rank ages ago and I still keep playing.

You should the game because you enjoy playing it, not because you want to max out some silly number.

That’s the spirit!
