A lot of features that have been part of Halo are not in this game yet. I believe it is safe to say that this is an early access experience more than a full release. Don’t get me wrong I am having a lot of fun playing right now and I think what 343i has released so far has far more positives than negatives, but still.
Dude this is the worst feeling halo I’ve ever experienced, and I’ve played all of the FPS iterations of Halo. I’m still playing it, and can call it trash all the same. Currently diamond 5 and level 49 of the BP.
What I like: the aesthetics, ost, weapons, and how they fixed the horrible travesty that was H5’s narrative.
Even though H5 got a lot of hate (rightfully so) it still plays so much SMOOTHER than this janky excuse of a game. Something is seriously wrong under the hood.
Well I’m sorry you feel that way, I think it feels pretty damn great. For all it’s shortcomings and lack of content, the content we do have feels tight and well polished.
In all honesty, I think this game feels better than Halo 3 does.
I dunno why you’d play it then if I’m being honest. When I don’t have fun with a title, I drop it in favor of a title that I do enjoy. I don’t force myself to play something I hate.
Plat 6, 41 of BP. I personally cannot wait to get back on. I’ve been on hiatus since Thanksgiving when I caught Covid, I wanna push to Onyx so badly.
Ooof right? These are all great changes.
And they did the playerbase right by bringing the SPNKR back after the generic rocket launcher we got in H5 too.
You say “smoothly”, may I ask what you’re playing on? Resolution? Framerate?
I agree H5 was optimized better, but there’s a lot of features that allow for a great technical experience that go undiscussed.
The game does have a lot of issues under the hood, not denying that. Just the fact alone the engine is so hard baked that the Devs talked about how ffa Slayer was impossible, SLAYER! But it does appear that when under pressure, even ugly carbon can turn into a Diamond.
In that case, Halo Infinite will be an early access beta for 10 years, since it won’t be complete for 10 years, almost like MCC how it took so long until it had all the games and modes added.
Sounds like something I said a few times tbh, because it’s probably accurate
i mean, accurate though. for a early access it isn’t bad… but it’s not complete.
honestly i want to enjoy this game, i really do. i want to have a good time with infinite. but aside from the monetization… something about the current state of it just pushes me away. and i don’t know what it is. maybe i’m just not having fun with it as of now, which is a darn shame… but makes sense given the state of it. but… it has promise, and it’l certainly be eventually good.
also ain’t that the truth of modern gaming? games being early access without the title. like CoD vanguard -v-
Beta is being extremely generous when you think about all of the game modes, armors, weapons, etc they’re going to be adding in over time. We’re practically still in alpha.
“for early access it isn’t bad…” “Other companies do it too!” Hate this mindset. We should be pushing against this kind of behavior from devs, not excusing it because someone is always worst. Reality is they released a shell of a game loaded with microtransactions, and an extremely basic campaign for $60 as if these were full experiences.
ya don’t say sherlock. it’s almost as bad as loot boxes… almost -v-
but i digress, this form of game realeases being not even half complete and bare bones AT LAUNCH is inexcusable. even if the gameplay is good, it’s inexcusable. everyone should actually boycot this kind of behavior. yet… everyone’s accepting it for whatever reason. it really seems split. it’s stupid
I had a blast with Halo 3, doesn’t mean I was good at it lol.
The projectile mechanics made the game feel off. It’s still difficult to play even now between controller and M/KB. It’s fun, but it just feels off at times. Like I should’ve been able to squeeze another burst out of the BR before I died, or that grenade didn’t land where I put it.
It’s ok to perceive one game as snappier. In this case, I really do feel like Infinite has tighter feeling mechanics. Halo 3 for as great as it is/was just feels loose and trampoline-y.
Except it doesn’t play well, compared to other Halo titles on launch. The game is desync city. I’ve never seen a Halo game so unresponsive to my inputs, and even then when the input is accepted, it has a 50/50 chance of not doing anything (melee hits, grenades, bullets). That and the massive amount of people unable to play due to constant crashes.
I think I’ve seen your name on every single post mentioning any issue with the game. You’re aware of them, clearly, no matter how hard you try to downplay and dismiss them.
I’m gonna address this point first, because I’m not a fan of misinformation/misunderstandings. I suggest you read a bit more into my responses because this is a gross generalization.
Addressing the elephant in the room: yes, there are some issues I do in fact downplay (customization, monetization, progression primarily), I won’t deny that. Some “issues” are just buzzword tertiary bits that can be forgone and ignored entirely without it impacting the overall ability to play the title, so I’m going to downplay them in favor of issues that do impact a player’s ability to, well, play.
Some issues objectively take precedent over others (server disconnects/optimization, game crashes for various reasons, desync, features that exist but in limited scope [Crossplay control, match rejoin], friends list and social integrations, settings and UI optimization, etc). Things that directly impact a player’s ability to enjoy the gameplay experience objectively prioritize these issues. I want to see these things adjusted and fixed and am in no way dismissing them.
Other issues skirt the line (cheaters [namely cheater prevalence and legitimacy], gameplay mechanic gripes [usually heavily opinionated rather than precedented], personal experience with various interactions [anecdotal and often times fixable/circumventable given other player input]). Focusing on the obvious one for reference, cheaters are something that’s obviously a huge impact on the game and can break the experience for players that encounter them. The game uses AI learning which is no substitute for a true anticheat, never going to deny or dismiss this. What I am going to deny and dismiss are claims that cheaters populate this game at rates that far exceed what’s statistically possible, most of the time “cheaters” that players encounter are just simply better or misunderstood based on how theater mode or even the player interprets inputs. I say this based on personal experience being called a cheater, reported as a cheater, and spending hundreds of hours in CSGO’s community driven anti-cheat system “Overwatch” actively identifying cheaters and non-cheaters alike. Some issues are a case by case situation and should be approached as such.
It plays fine on my end which I what I base my statements on. I can’t speak for yours, only discuss it, because I’m not you. I can’t base my subjective experience off of your experience because I don’t subjectively experience your experience.
For some people, I personally haven’t noticed much desync except in matches that have noticeably high ping.
Individual experience varies, which is indicative of larger issues, which need to be addressed. Namely better understanding of server connection or whether or not peer-to-peer connection is utilized (in some cases I suspect it is due to wild variations in latency within a match).
50/50 seems like an exaggeration or user related.
I’m not sure what type of input your playing on, but it honestly sounds to me like broken hardware. I had an issue with my last keyboard where a few switches would input multiple rapid keystrokes. Joystick drift is another issue that opens the door to clogged switches and buttons that may contribute to this issue.
Or it’s in relation to the larger issues at play. If your game is only registering 50% of your inputs, there’s a lot that can be done to diagnose the problem before assertions are made.
Again, huge issue. This needs to take precedent in some capacity. I personally don’t experience all that many crashes (maybe 3 tops) but I have friends and family who do, and it does ruin the experience.
I appreciate the length and thought of the response.
I’m just not a fan of people dismissing legitimate issues by stating ‘well it doesn’t happen on my end’ so it’s fine. Again, you’re here talking about subjective experience and nailing emphasis on the fact that it’s not a ‘you’ problem. I don’t have crashes anymore, I found a workaround. That doesn’t mean that the game doesn’t crash for others, and that it is objectively a worse experience than previous Halo titles in that matter, as most other titles did not experience crashes on launch.
Same thing with desync. In high ranked, it’s the most common complaint. ‘Damn, my melee didn’t deal damage’. ‘He walked in my grenade, he’s weak! Oh, no nevermind it didn’t deal damage’. Good for you if you haven’t gotten any desync issues, but again, it feels like you’re actively contributing to downplaying those. These are not user-side errors. I’m playing on a 1.2Gbps connection, and I have no issues with other shooters.
I’ve seen a few people posting already asking about major issues. It’s their first post on the forums, and immediately the responses are:
I also have this issue, the game is broken
I don’t have this issue, the game is great, stop whining
This likely drives them away immediately, and you can see that they just don’t post anything after that and dropped the game. I just hope you think back on all this when the peak player base is 30k in about 3 months.
