this doesn't make sense

Hey waypoint! Please don’t get me wrong, I’m not killing myself over no for halo 4 information, I think we’re all dying a little bit inside every week that goes by, but I can wait. Now that that’s out of the way, I would just like to know, what is the reason behind 343 being so secretive. Resident Evil 6 was announced just the other day for a November 2012 release, and we already know the locations, the characters, and a some gameplay info. Farcry 3 was announced with Halo 4 at E3, and Ubisoft Montreal just came out with a new trailer and an official release date for the game…I just don’t get it, all these major developpers have already released vital info (location) and some even a new trailer, Why is 343 so damn secrative?

We are supposed to get info. Feb. 29th- March 5( i tihnk march 5) for the spring showcase… that what everyone is saying, and no not just on these forums. Be patient.

We just got a good amount of info the other day…

I’ve been off the forums this week, could i get a linky?

Possible answers to your question of “Why are 343 being so secretive?”, in decreasing order of likelihood:

  1. Because a certain period of time has already been set aside for the marketing slog, and that period has not yet begun;
  2. Because until very recently, the game was not in a state that its developers felt comfortable displaying to the public;
  3. Because with Halo’s track record, they can afford to make the community wait;
  4. Because Reach has not yet completed its lifespan, and they don’t wish to usurp players’ attention;
  5. Because withholding information is in itself a marketing tool used to generate hype;
  6. Because once they’ve shown us something, 90% of the community will start to complain about it;
  7. Because Microsoft won’t let them;
  8. Because they are sadists who enjoy watching people pining for information;
  9. Because they lost all their data in a computer crash and are feverishly attempting to recreate the game;
  10. Because they consulted a voodoo priestess, and were told that the time is not yet ripe;
  11. Because they’re watching the forums and changing the game to meet people’s expectations;
  12. Because the Covenant are real, have discovered Earth, and upon finding out that they were portrayed as religious zealots in previous games, are holding the 343 employees hostage until they stuff Halo 4 full of pro-Covenant propaganda designed to make humanity receptive to a brutal invasion of brobdingnagian proportions.

the new Farcry 3 trailers amazing

> We just got a good amount of info the other day…

Yes, we found out the game was “good”, and that it was, “fun”.

343i =/= Capcom
Just because Capcom released so much info, doesn’t mean that 343i has to release so much info too. But I agree it’s slowly time to release some info.

DWAESRTDFGHJKKKKKKKKYBGV FGTHYUJKIJ,KHMHNGBGDFJGH sorry cat laid on the board and I am too lazy to press the back buttom yet i type this sentence. hmmmm… strange

1-The game is terrible and they know it.
2-The game is too good.
3-They’re planning some weird marketing thingy.

I think that they’re going to release a whole bunch of info at once to compensate for the wait, they know what they’re doing ( I hope). :wink:

Well, Halo 4’s Campaign seems to be centred around exploration and mystery. So, the way I see it, the less information they give us about the game, the more mysterious it is. It’ll just add to the overall feeling of the game the first time we pop that disc in.

Hopefuly, they’ll only show multiplayer stuff. When Reach came out we’d basicaly seen at least a tiny part of every mission from the videos and screenshots ect. (to be honest it didn’t help that the multiplayer maps were in the Campaign too). We’d seen most of Reach’s Campaign by the time the game was released. I’m hoping they won’t do that with Halo 4.

I’m going to go with numbers two and three.

I’m going with the fact Microsoft wont let them. Pure and Simply.
People forget 343i is merely the people they employed to make the game and continue Halo’s revenue stream, at its core that is all Halo is. Money to Microsoft.
To ruin the hype now would screw over Microsoft’s plan.

Number 10 is definitely the most likely choice out of those, I’m putting my bets on it.

Good enough for me LOL.

I can’t contain myself. I must look at every single thing they release. Which is why i wish to see very little campaign. I’m more of a multiplayer guy either way but I do love going into a campaign not knowing much about it. In that sense I’m glad they haven’t released anything yet. I’m slightly upset though that I have no idea what multiplayer is going to play like.
