This game is to dumbed down for people new to Halo . Load-outs are there for people that want to choose what gun they want to spawn with , this is wrong for Halo . Everyone started equally before and you had to master each weapon in case it came up in a game mode like team br’s or duals. I feel by adding loadout’s it essentially only makes people have to be good with the one gun of there choice .
Also ordnances are very causal and result in a dumbed down Halo . What happened to map control , Now I or anyone else can just sit at the back of the map and drop power weapons until I’m content . Halo used to be start off with equal guns and navigate the map for the better weapons . Now it’s everyone choosing the best gun of there choice (Mostly DMR) then dropping power weapons/abilites after a few kills.
Ranking system needs to come back. The current levelling up system is only based on how much you play . What is the point of a waypoint only ranking system anyway its pointless
The perk like system is also dumbed down to , Fire fights now come down to who has the better load-out set-up rather then skill with there gun .
I actually disagree. Halo 4 doesn’t look like halo to me but it feels like Halo a little. Halo 3 for some reason looked like the best Halo in my opinion.

Definitely agree here. It was also one of the best for machinima uses. Instead of taking a lot of older features and mechanics and building upon them, 343i took a lot of unnecessary -Yoink- from other crappy FPS which noobs and little kids play and implemented them here.
I don’t see the massive issue with allowing players to choose their starting weapons that are in the same class. Yes, the DMR needs rebalancing (although not too much) but this was a good change. Being a huge Carbine fan in Halo 3, it always bothered me that there were only like 2 Carbines on the map, if that. Since it was exactly the same weapon as the BR, there was also no point in going out of my way to find one, which made the weapon rather redundant, tbh.
I do however agree with the points you made about Ordinance and the ranking system and everything else about loadouts that isn’t about the primary starting weapon. Personally, I’m not an overly-competitive player, but as things are at the moment, competitive and casual gamers are being thrown together in the same mix - which is never a good thing. They need to be separated as they were in Halo 2 and 3.
Perks aren’t really a great addition since the normal stuff had to be nerfed to make room for them in the game’s balance (for example, the bigger delay in energy shield recharging and ammo depleting noticeably faster than in previous games).

Halo was never complicated to begin with, you could actually make the argument that halo dumbed down the fps genre in general (2 weapons, recharging HP)
Is it too much to ask for casual gameplay that is also balanced? All the old halo titles had balance built into the foundation of every playlist, no if I want to play a balanced game where the better team wins I am forced to play in a competitive playlist. PO is so gamebreaking, it not only kills the arena style of play, but makes every game a gamble instead of a battle of wits and skill.

Halo has evolved every game since the first one. With each new game has come new game modes, new weapons, new intricacies, and a new feel to the game play. Halo 2 felt nothing like halo CE, halo 3 felt nothing like halo 2/ce, reach felt nothing like ce/2/3.
Some people enjoy having the option to choose what weapons they want to spawn with. You are not the only person that’s view/thoughts on what make halo matter.
Saying that you only have to be good with one gun because of loadouts is kinda hypocritical, since in previous halos most fights were 1 primary weapon and any power weapons on the map.
I love how people try bashing ordinances by saying you can just sit in the back of the map, camp and rain down power weapons all day. I’d like to see a video of someone camping in the back of the map and calling in more than 2 ordinances. Also seeing how ordinance drops are only in 2 of the many game modes presented it renders your point about halo being dumbed down moot. If you dont like the ordinance dont play that play list. What I find most amusing about this is people campaigned and complained for a hardcore competitive play list and infinity slayer and big team infinity slayer are still the 2 most played play lists.
Non viable ranking system is pointless… you are correct but only if you are using the ranking system to bash other players online because they dont have as high of a digital number as you. Those that actually care about what rank they are should have no problem with the non visible rank. You can check it when ever you want. It is a compromise of both those wanting a ranking system and those not wanting a ranking system.
Perk system dumbs down the game eh? Makes each fire fight about what perks players have over others? I do not find that truthful at all. I have a view loadouts that others might view as not optimized and I dont struggle with them at all. It still comes down to who has the better aim and the better strategy.
I would love to see a test of 2 people who have never played an FPS or video game and let them play one match of each of the two major FPS titles (cod/halo) and see which game they perform better in. My money is on them doing worst in halo no matter how much you think they game might of been dumbed down.
