DLC doesn’t work , clearly.
Any suggestions how to make it work ?
The H2 model worked.
other than than if 60 percent of the room had dlc , let it show up ?
other than that, what a waste of time.

i can barely understand what on earth your trying to put forth
Is this about the new DLC or how DLC works or something else???
So you’re saying that if 60% of the lobby have DLC, it should show up and just kick players and prompt them to download the DLC?
That shouldn’t be required, we should have a DLC search option (which will only match you with other DLC owners).
I’d be fine if it worked like in Halo 2 were the maps became free after a while. Then people would actually get to play them in MM.
He’s trying to say that Halo 4 should follow in Halo 2’s footsteps with DLC. Usually everyone in a match would have the DLC in Halo 2, unlike Halo 4, in which almost nobody has the DLC in a match. Halo 2’s DLC was free, or at least ended up being so. Halo 4’s is not and there are not plans for doing so.
AFAIK there’s no new achievements included in this DLC. Perhaps the maps will be free sometime down the road.

Not all DLC that has achievements tied to it has to be paid for. There are plenty of games out there that have free DLC with achievements tied to it. Gears of War 1 and Red Dead Redemption are just 2 examples.
> AFAIK there’s no new achievements included in this DLC. Perhaps the maps will be free sometime down the road.
Whoo, maybe they’ll actually have people playing them in MM sometime after release?!
All I can say is that it’s frustrating forking out an extra $30 or so for maps that I play 5% of the time.

Totally agree. But what we should have had is a permanent DLC Map selection slots as soon as its available from the start.
What should be done is if you try to select a DLC map pack to play and you don’t have the content, then you are told you can’t play those maps and are given the option of gogin to buy it or returning to the game selection lobby. That’s how real software companies handle this issue.
And given 343’s track record with DLC (content I PURCHASED may or may not be available based on the whims of 343), why would anyone buy another DLC pack only to find out your not going to be able to play it?
I have zero faith that 343i has any clue what they are doing…
Have a search option where it puts you with other players that have the same DLC as you do. If it takes too long to find a game then turn DLC searching off. It’s as simple as that. I’ve already forked out $25 for maps that I’ve only played maybe a total of 10 times, and 343 won’t get another penny for DLC from me until something is changed.
If you really want to make a statement, don’t buy the map pack part at least. The good thing about the bundle is that the maps and gametype is separate from the skins and armor. Make your purchases on those.
Maybe make a thread explaining why you are not content with the current way DLC maps are handled on the MM thread and see if alot of people feel the same(don’t make a petition. your thread will be dead on arrival).
I too would like to see more maps appear more frequently as it gets cheaper or free when I don’t play with friends as well. However, no one makes a noise over it, so I don’t see 343 making note of doing anything about it.
In regard to the 60% thing, what I meant if 60% of the lobby have the dlc let everyone play it. Just a thought but this model doesn’t work.
Game types like team slayer, FFA and (small team objective) should not be dlc required. This allows players without dlc to get a feel for all the different gametypes halo 4 has to offer.
The rest should be dlc required like in halo 3. Nothing -Yoinks!- me off more than having awesome maps to play, but never being able to play them. I thought 343 would have learned from reach but clearly they haven’t, I definitely won’t be buying dlc next time round.

Here here. Paid for Castle Maps, I double I’m the only one trying to play them on a Saturday night why can’t I find any games?
I have played a castle map once. not on really.

How can the other 40% of people without the DLC play the DLC?
Making DLC free isn’t really going to work, as people will just wait for it to be free before they buy it, sure some of us will buy it on Day One, but a good chunk of sales will be lost.
343 already say that they have search parameters that match you with other DLC owners, but as you can tell, it isn’t really up to the job.
The only way I can see this working is if they start introducing DLC Only Playlists, like Halo 3 did.
Worked for halo 2.
I really don’t understand why many developers don’t take a page out of Borderlands 2’s book on this call. Sure, compatibility packs are annoying to download, but if they mean you can play with people who have aesthetic DLC then they’re a marvellous thing!
Just go all DLC free after 6 months ,Halo 2 style.
