Does 343i really deserve all the hate they have been getting literally nonstop since this game’s release?
I see people on here every single day pointing out everything they think is bad about this game and then saying “It’s obvious that 343i has no idea what they are doing and they just want to destroy Halo” What? This game definitely has its flaws don’t get me wrong, but it seems quite clear to me that they do care about Halo. They made a great new story, the soundtrack to this game is arguably one of the best (imo) and they put much more emotional weight into the characters.
Even after their mistakes they continue to patch the game so that people will enjoy playing it.
There are long time Halo fans here that say they are completely done with Halo forever because of this game. That’s your choice and no one is going to change that but why don’t you think about it for just a second. You are going to leave the series that you love and adore just because the first game made by 343i wasn’t as succesful as the other ones? For all the faults that this game has I think that it’s still a great game. Great campaign, multiplayer is fun.
I can’t stand when people just jump on the hate wagon because they don’t know what’s actually wrong with the game. “Cortana died! 343i is killing Halo!!!111” “No original Halo theme? This game has forgotten what Halo is all about!”
Like seriously, the bashing of 343i has gone way too far. If you find an issue with the game then point it out without looking like an offensive idiot and maybe provide an idea for an alternative or a fix if you can.
I’m not a crazy fanboy mindlessly defending 343i, I’m trying to show you how mindless and negative these forums really are for the most part.
You all condemned Halo after one mistake! I believe that 343i can be entrusted with this series and they can and already have been learning from their mistakes.
I agree with pretty much everything you just said personally ^^
I have yet to play a Halo I did not thoroughly enjoy, and Halo 4 was no exception. Sure, I may have found some things a bit disagreeable, but nothing I couldn’t embrace so I can continue playing one of my favorite games.
I agree, I know Halo 4 is broken at its core but everything 343 has done is to improve the experience for the gamers, I really think 343 cares for Halo, all the extended media they’ve done is evidence of this alone.
Really it mainly seems to be the multiplayer community who will try to tear apart everything 343 does (e.g. people complaining Legendary Slayer isn’t classic despite 343 saying it isn’t classic).
Legitimate concerns backed up with solutions are fine, but if it’s hating for the sake of hating then it’s the community who are pathetic
> Some “complainers” are just trying to help the franchise they love, but others just hatehatehatehate 343 for the sake of hating 343. And that bugs me.
Not all complaining is bad! There have been many people on here that just want to help with feedback so that they don’t make the same mistake twice. However, those cool-headed, helpful individuals are outnumbered by mindless haters.
Any time I’ve pointed out a flaw in Halo 4, I’ve been able to back up my opinions with logic and evidence. I dislike Halo 4 because I had hoped it was going to be as good as Halo 3 was, but it wasn’t. However, it is better than Reach, which caused me to leave Halo for a time, so I still play it’s because it’s still my favorite shooter despite its shortcomings.
Campaign was GREAT though. Best campaign since CE.
Have you ever worked in a retail store or restaurant? I have, and anyone who has knows how often customers will demand to see management, refuse to pay, or threaten that they’re “never coming back,” and all of those are baseless, inconsequential threats. Many of the people who say they “refuse to play” Halo 4 are still playing it, some even more often than I. They’re childish and immature and their unreasonable tantrums should be ignored.

Agreed. Disliking a new feature or a removed feature is natural, and constructive criticism is vastly different than outright hating. Stating an opinion like it is undeniable fact is another thing I see often as well. I have a lot of opinions, tons of them, but I never claim they’re factual - as much as I’d like them to be sometimes
I’m not going to lie, a lot of the hate is completely justified. All of the controversial additions included in Halo 4 should’ve been saved for a spin-off game like Reach, not the sequel to Halo 3.
Halo players are a really passionate group of gamers, we love Halo, the simplicity and balance of it all, and a lot of us felt cheated when we played Halo 4, expecting it to be a proper sequel to H3. Instead we got Reach + Modern Game elements thrown together and it just felt… off.
I hope Halo 4 was a learning experience for 343i and they take something away from it.
> Does 343i really deserve all the hate they have been getting literally nonstop since this game’s release?
No. But they do deserve criticism for the mistakes they’ve made. Frankly, I’d be worried if every post on this forum was relentlessly positive.
A lot of people expected Halo 4 to be closer to traditional entries in the series after the very experimental and controversial game that was Halo: Reach, and 343i encouraged this perception. What Halo 4 did instead was take most of Reach’s mechanics and refine most of them – some into perfection, in fact – before adding its own (which were noticeably less refined). The result was a game that was just as experimental as Reach.
Add to that a rushed development schedule and a ton of missing content, and you get a game with a lot of potential, but also a lot of flaws. 343i wasn’t able to address these concerns in a timely manner (and some major problems still linger). The result of all of this is that many people, who had almost given up hope for the franchise after Reach, declared Halo dead within months of Halo 4’s release.
> I see people on here every single day pointing out everything they think is bad about this game and then saying “It’s obvious that 343i has no idea what they are doing and they just want to destroy Halo” What?
I don’t think that Halo 4 is dying, but it’s certainly not doing well. I think that the fact that 343i continues to maintain it – despite the apparently low probability of its population ever increasing by a significant margin and then remaining increased – is a testament to their dedication to, and care for, the franchise.
> Like seriously, the bashing of 343i has gone way too far. If you find an issue with the game then point it out without looking like an offensive idiot and maybe provide an idea for an alternative or a fix if you can.
Please tread carefully with rhetoric like this. I don’t want to see you step over the line into flaming, even unintentionally.

There are some very valid complaints about this game. But nothing justifies going on the forums to flame 343i and being really passionate about Halo doesn’t justify so much hate either. You wouldn’t say things like that to them in person, so why say horrible things to them on here?

It’s up to the people themselves to conduct themselves properely and respectfully on forums like these. I realize that it’s impossible for everyone to do that though.

They do deserve criticism but they don’t deserve all the mindless hate and flaming that is in the forums daily.

Even though some of the flaming may be difficult to read, at the heart of all of the complaints is the solution to the problem. Some people just can’t control their emotions and it just spews out, but it doesn’t make their points any less valid.
The forums are for feedback and discussion, not everything is always going to be positive.
Some people here aren’t understanding me properely. There ARE problems with this game and they DO need to be addressed. The valid complaints were heard and the game is now better because of it.
With that being said, there is NO need for flaming and just hate for 343i. Criticism is good, taking it too far and insulting 343i will get you nothing and just makes you look childish.
If you have a problem, compose yourself (lol) and then write out a well thought idea of what is wrong and how it can be changed.
