This community is terrible.

While watching the Reach forums for over a year and bit, Bungie and 343, something I’ve noticed is both communities within, know nothing about the other. We assume stupid -Yoink- about each other and claim the game should be how we see fit. However, I’m writing this because I want to vent.

Flame suit ON

So let’s begin.

Casual players:

Shut the -Yoink- up with your stupid assumptions about competitive players and the MLG community. When someone makes a claim that bloom is fine, I lose a brain cell. Bloom has no skill gap. It doesn’t exist. Time after time it has been proven to be broken. On XBL and LAN. Pacing shots can be trumped by someone spamming. We all know this. However, some don’t care. I say that with absolute honesty. I’ve played with some of most casual players, the people who play Halo:Reach because, it’s fun. Face it. A majority of the people who play the Team Slayer playlist are not some of the best Halo players in terms of skill. That’s perfectly fine! I don’t care if you’re terrible at a video game! It’s a video game. However. When you come to the forums and claim that something like Bloom is fine as is, you need to realize that there are many examples showing that it doesn’t work properly. We have all experienced that.

BUT LIKE I SAID! That’s great if you love Vanilla Reach.

If you see no problem with AA’s, that’s fine. I will never hold that against someone, I may disagree and explain why I think they are detrimental to the game, but everyone likes Reach for different reasons.

Why did I address this part of the community in such a rude way? I don’t really know. Partly from reading several posts by users who have no idea what they are really talking about in terms of balance, game breaking settings and so on. What makes my opinion more logical? Well, logic of course. When this part of the community claims

E.X. Evade was perfect in Objective- I can explain why it takes away from the playlist. You may not agree with how I see it, but a lot of smart players would.

I’m not trying to attack people in the community but help you understand where we come from.

Competitive Community:

Stop harassing the community like -Yoinking!- idiots. You make me look bad, and you drag the MLG community into it as well. How the two get lumped together, I will never understand but whatever. As I was saying, you people need to realize a few things about the majority of our populace. They don’t care about the same things we do. They play the game for the pure enjoyment of shooting -Yoink- and talking to friends. So stop trying to shove the TU down their throat. Don’t like Bleed through being gone? Understandable. Squad Slayer removed, yeah it sucks. What can we do about it? Express our idea’s to the community and try to make something work. Instead of bombarding threads and calling everyone a person.

Yes, my thoughts are unorganized, it’s 2am. So Halo:Reach community. Why don’t we do this. Stop assuming -Yoink- about each other, and get along. Is it really that hard to share an opinion on a part of the game and learn a thing or two from the community? How people enjoy Vanilla will always baffle me, but that’s there call. I have the MLG playlist that I can enjoy. So casuals, if someone uses logic to explain to you why they think Vanilla is terrible, don’t take it to heart. Look at it with logic and understand. Competitive players; Use some logic and play nice with the other half of our community. You don’t need to freak out because they enjoy something we don’t. If someone says something that truly is wrong in your eyes, explain to them why you think it’s wrong.

TL;DR.

The Halo community is full of loud mouthed idiots. Stop assuming -Yoink- about each other and be logical for once.

*Of course when I speak of casuals and Competitive players, I don’t mean every single person, in each community there are idiots who make us all look bad.

From my experience, people on both sides have trouble embracing logic.

> From my experience, people on both sides have trouble embracing logic.

They do. I have no idea why though.

You want to know why? It’s the internet, and internet forums at that, there’s never been any logic or understanding between two groups of people on here.

Before we get started, welcome to Waypoint =)

This should be good =D

> Flame suit ON

Lights flame-thrower.

> So let’s begin.

Im ready.

> Casual players:

Casuals, generally dont visit forums, but I will attempt to answer for them, around forums, I would be considered casualish.

> Shut the -Yoink!- up with your stupid assumptions about competitive players and the MLG community.

Ironically, you lead with the quintessential character flaw demonstrated by “competitive MLG community”, complete disregard for basic courtesy, not a good start sir =/.

Those brain cells you are loosing, there your politeness brain cells.

> BUT LIKE I SAID! That’s great if you love Vanilla Reach.

Thanks, you may love MLG as well and I also, think that is greeeat.

> If you see no problem with AA’s, that’s fine. I will never hold that against someone, I may disagree and explain why I think they are detrimental to the game, but everyone likes Reach for different reasons.

Cool, still with you.

> Why did I address this part of the community in such a rude way?

Dunno, its hard to take you very seriously though.

> I don’t really know. Partly from reading several posts by users who have no idea what they are really talking about in terms of balance, game breaking settings and so on. What makes my opinion more logical? Well, logic of course.

Seems like flimsy logic to me, but Im very discerning, so dont feel bad.

> When this part of the community claims

I bet this is going to be a matter of difference of opinion, one where you are going to claim superiority.

> E.X. Evade was perfect in Objective- I can explain why it takes away from the playlist. You may not agree with how I see it, but a lot of smart players would.

Knew it, you guys are getting kind of predictable.

> I’m not trying to attack people in the community but help you understand where we come from.

You are doing it wrong.

> Competitive Community:

This should be interesting.

Actually solid advice, but at this point, most people have stopped reading.

Different strokes for different folks, that pretty much it and go to bed.

> The Halo community is full of loud mouthed idiots. Stop assuming Yoink! about each other and be logical for once.

Forget logic, lets work on being civil.

> *Of course when I speak of casuals and Competitive players, I don’t mean every single person, in each community there are idiots who make us all look bad.

Very true sigh very true.

> Forget logic, lets work on being civil.

One step at a time. Establish rational thinking first, then strive for the impossible.

> From my experience, people on both sides have trouble embracing logic.

And yet, sadly, we’re more polite than the average CoD player. Prove me wrong; you can’t.

I wish the animosity between the two sides would end and we could both come together for a simple compromise. 343i must be going insane having the two communities constantly bickering and making it so every update seems pointless and unfulfilling.

Wow, this turned out to be actually a much more balanced thread thanks to
Plunderfull.

> *Of course when I speak of casuals and Competitive players, I don’t mean every single person, in each community there are idiots who make us all look bad.

It also shows you lack the understanding to the meanings of competitive, recreational, casual, hardcore, intense and fun.

Not saying you’re an idiot, just saying your position is not as dry as you may think.
We must move past the titles when applying them to players and apply them only to the styles to which players themselves use.
In other words, though groups and boundaries exist, stop trying to define them.

Rational thinking is a matter of perspective, especially in matters as trivial as games, but you got a point LOL and welcome to Waypoint =)
