I mistake I made at first which should have been obvious, was using kinetic weapons the entire fight. If I found a plasma weapon, using that would drain it’s shields. Then after either coils or kinetic weapons are your friend.
When Escheram pulled out his hammer, I was on my toes for that fight trying to grapple away. He was too persistent.
I didn’t even use the motion tracker the entire Heroic campaign, I just used grapple to avoid getting hit and keep distance. Maybe it’s worse on Legendary, but you can actually still see cloaked enemies in Infinite if you’re not using a Gameboy for a monitor. It’s not like older Halo titles where they were practically 100% invisible. Most of the time, if you think you saw something, and shoot around that area, you’ll hit and deactivate their cloaking. Came across plenty of other cloaked Elites through campaign just because the wall looked distorted and avoided getting Noble 6’d. My friends and I are waiting til Co-op to run Legendary together, since we don’t want to ruin the experience yet, but Heroic was still not bad.
I guess if you’re just rushing from mission to mission It can be short. On my first playthrough on legendary it took me 16 hours of game time, mainly just exploring the ring and enjoying the combat encounters along the way. On a casual playthrough of any other Halo campaign on legendary it would only take 4 hours.
Bosses aren’t difficult until you learn their weaknesses and exploit them. I’ll admit the Harbinger did feel broken to me, with her electric shock being hard to avoid and taking you out in 1-2 hits. Every other boss didn’t feel hard, but they were no joke
I played on legendary on my 1st playthrough. Minus the last boss, everybody was a -Yoink!- bullet sponge. Takes you way to much, and for most fights you have to cheese the crap out of them. Hiding behind a wall, or an area with cover, run in circles while you’re dropping mag after mag into the enemy with the weapons they give you. If that’s not enough most of them have 100% accuracy and with certain moves they instakill you with no counter(I had all upgrades for armour but I dont even wanna know how it would be without them, also the enemy still sees you when you are invisible after dash so whats the point of that upgrade?)
You don’t even to do all of that to beat some of these bosses. If you want to get more comfortable, just find some position or high ground where the melee bosses can’t get to you and then chip them away whilst they remain practically helpless. These boss battles would only be too hard for many if you were not able to do such things; as if their AI was actually better designed to counter such playstyles to begin with.
I genuinely used a needler on him which, according to my memory ( repressed much of that fight ), that kept him in check from doing much because of the stun explosions.
This one was my shortest boss fight if you don’t count the three bs waves. Had more issues with the last brute chieftan on the last wave than the last boss overall.
Plenty fun to get OHK instant lunged from outside radar range.
The other short one was the first boss. Nothing helped there until I got frustrated enough to just melee it at the start. Most ridiculous boss fight I’ve experienced.
Overall though, I did have issues with many of the boss fights because they were too relentless in their attacks to give me a proper breather and finding the right tools.
Getting the one in the chopper and the other with the scrap turret was extremely annoying with their minions spawning in.
Luckily a mongoose with a Heatwave marine quickly took out the Chopper. But skewers made short work of the mongoose and the quite literal infinite range on enemy weapons is something extremely ridiculous.
Don’t know how it works on other difficulties, if they get unlimited range after getting aggro. But that’s besides the point. Though boss fights could do good to not be part of the philosophy of merely getting stat increases. Change up the battleground, unlock other tactics for them, make it more interesting to fight them, not tedious with samey tactics and / or cheesing.
The boss fight was made so that you were truly trapped in a cage and that you were the hunted. He was meant to make you feel uneasy. And the boss fight isn’t that hard. The next one is the difficult one IF you didn’t keep his Blood Blade.
I played on Heroic. I havnt done Legendary yet. I absolutly whooped Jega’s face off. I dont know if it was luck but I beat him on my first try in just a few minutes. I only had level 1 threat sensor.
Chaklok was harder for me. So was the hammer brute boss.
The hardest boss for me was the brute brothers where one was on a chopper and the other in a tower. I had no ammo to start so that made it pretty hard.
I was going to recommend that they buff Jega because he was a push over for me. Although I am looking forward to beating them on legendary to see how I fare.
Skipped vanilla legendary and just did a LASO. Pretty easy to destroy all the bosses with infinite rockets and shock grenades. Maybe just play LASO if you still get the Legendary achievement.
I would literally waste nades or rocket shots because he goes invincible suddenly as he transitions into his invisible teleport escape. Lol. Incredible.
