This art style is great, for the most part...

Greetings. I’m sure this has been said before, but man is this newer style good. I know it is a matter of opinion, but it seems to be a good mixture of the newer and older styles. As a result, this newer style feels like halo, but in a way that is refreshing. My only complaint is the forerunner architecture depicted on the Ark. While it appears to be the classic style in the cutscenes (the one that should be accurate to the location), in the gameplay the newer, halo 4 and 5-like style is used. I have no issue with this style so long as it is used in a way that isn’t contradictory to what we know, and so long as the older style remains canon (which it does).

Also, yes, I know that it mentions somewhere that the Ark looks this way possibly due to its repairs, but that still doesn’t explain why certain locations look vastly different between cutscenes and actual gameplay. My initial theory was that, much like a city and its infrastructure, the halo 4-5 style would be used as the outer appearance for forerunner facilities (the part your average joe forerunner would see), whereas the older Bungie style (which lacks the large neon lights and floating bits) would be the appearance of the more technical, less commonly seen areas that would be part of the inner superstructure. However, as was stated, certain cutscenes depict different areas from the gameplay with a different style than was present in the actual gameplay.

I’ve seen a lot of people mention they don’t like the Forerunner style in this game but I didn’t mind it. To be fair, the older style of Forerunner tech was simplistic and easier on the eyes. However, with 343i probably wanting to intertwine these stories, it only makes sense to match the style of Forerunner tech to the newer one so they look related.

My biggest, and really only, complaint is the scarab. It looks really cartoony to me, and I’m just not feeling it.
