Third Person Halo

Who wants to see it?

Do you mean like Xcom or Gears?

Everybody seems to be doing an Xcom style game these days. They did do Gears Tactics so I don’t know. It’s possible. I d probably get it for the story.

I am not sure on the appeal of third person. The main advantage is it’s an excuse to tell new Halo stories perhaps away from the main story; like Halo Wars.

Third person might work if you want a more melee focused game. Say if you were playing an Elite.

Maybe in a spin-off title, it could be interesting.

I’m a big fan of TPS games in general, but they do tend to be slower paced and a different style of game.

Some notable ones that I’ve enjoyed Gears, Ghost Recon and Lost Planet.

No thanks. I’m not fond of third person shooters, particularly the camera angles, which I find disorienting and annoying.

As with most things, it’s a matter of personal taste.

A spin off would be great. I imagined an open world RPG being able to travel to multiple destinations/planets and progressing from Marine to ODST to eventually a Spartan.

Not really tbh. Besides it’s a title in another genre like RPG or MMORPG. (But than would be cool to change the view in game like in Skyrim^^)

But if they make a new “classic” or “normal” Halo (Halo Infinite 2, Halo 7 or what the name will be) it should be always a FPS.

343 wishes they could have gotten away with third person perspective. Cosmetics are likely more enticing to purchase when you can always see your character. Not that I would buy cosmetics either way.

In customs I’d be fun tbh

Look up “Evolution of Halo Pre-Xbox” on YouTube. You’re welcome. :stuck_out_tongue:

Well chief goes 3rd person when carrying a turret, apart from that it shouldn’t change, it wouldn’t be a good thing unless it was done how some games have done where you can switch between 1st and 3rd person so a player could choose.

Yeah this idea was inspired by watching Theater videos in 3P mode. If it made an entry into the main games than yeah it would be cool just as a custom games option to be able to switch your view. Or to some of the other points being made on this thread, a TPS marine spin-off could be fun. Maybe even survival horror akin to like dead space or RE. I’m just imagining colonial marines from Aliens…

Personally, I just don’t enjoy 3rd person games as much as first person ones for immersion reasons, so I would never use it myself.
That being said, I am not outright against it being an option for players who prefer it.
However, I can see controversy about it being in multiplayer, as 3rd person will give you a wider field of view than 1st person, even with the same FoV settings, because the camera is located behind the player instead of within his helmet (and possibly even slightly higher).
And if it’s restricted to only campaign/PvE/social/etc., it would once again piss people of because of the inconsistency.
I don’t like slippery slope arguments, but I just don’t see an implementation that would satisfy everybody…

As a related side note, I’d like to see them add the option to switch between third and first person mode when driving vehicles and shooting turrets in Infinite.

I think it would be a fun and interesting perspective change.

Yes, great point - I’d love to see 1P driving.

Remember in cod 4 they had a gam type for 3rd person that would cool to try out.

Yea seeing around corner would give you a huge advantage

I mean, I don’t see why a bareboned version of 3rd person couldn’t be a thing in forge?

You’re right. The functionality is already in place with turrets, except for scoping in.

Right? With all the toggle options available I could see this being an option.
