Yup, I’m not worried about getting 120 FPS, I’m fine with 60, I’m just worried the Xbox One X version will only support 30 in the Campaign. I know you mentioned there’ll be a performance mode for 1080p at 60, which is great, but as far as I know it’s only confirmed for multi (according to Digital Foundry).
Having said that, certainly better to wait. If it is in the Campaign, I’m golden with my current set up for what I’m looking for.
At any rate, less than a month until launch and until I know for sure!

Yeah, nothing has been said about the campaign unfortunately, only time will tell

The Series S is only a tad more powerful than the One X, on paper anyway (the Series S processor is really the only more powerful piece of hardware but you could also account for the older hardware in the One X as a factor). But the SSD makes a HUGE difference in the console experience. You may not notice much of a difference aside from the lack of 4K. I have the Infinite Series X on order and should be here by the end of next week.

If you are in fact only experiencing issues on the Series X with game crashes, I can guarantee you that it is the “Quick Resume” feature. All it requires you to do is close the game application and restart it and it will fix. Hardly a reason not to purchase it. Quick resume seems to cause bugs if you keep your Xbox in standy mode for long periods of time.

Series S is hot garbage and no one should buy one. It literally exists to make more money than the Series X by tricking consumers into thinking they have a good deal
Series S has hardly any storage (and extra storage that’s to spec will cost 200+ easily. Also, an aftermarket samsung SSD or similar won’t support the “Optimized For Series” features for no good reason), and graphically is last gen. Wouldn’t be surprised if you can’t even fit all the games you mentioned on it. Also no disc reader, which you say doesn’t matter until you want to buy an older game and realize the price is 4X more expensive digitally compared to disc. (Guess who gets a 30% cut of that quadrupled price)
Stick with your One X. If you absolutely need the faster loading times, plug in an SSD (or swap the internal HDD for an SSD) and you’ll get way better loading.

I close the game every single time out of habit and it still happens. I haven’t used quick resume once. Plus I said to factor it in, not outright avoid upgrading.

The feature is enabled by defaullt, how could you have not used it?
Because I choose the quit MCC option when I get back to the home screen every time I’m done playing for the day and turn my Xbox off. Unless I’m missing something here, I don’t quick resume anything. I just load up the MCC from scratch each time I play.
I had an old old Xbox one from 2013. Upgraded to the series S - can’t complain for the price. Playing MCC at 1440p and 60fps… could play it at 1080p and 120fps. But changing settings all the time is annoying. Much quicker to load but then I have to wait for my brothers Xbox one to load so I’m still hanging about! So I spend the extra few seconds mocking his console.
I went from a Xbox One S to a Series S and honestly its totally worth the upgrade. Games just feel so smooth on it, even ones that aren’t fully optimized for it. Things like quick resume, insanely fast load times, etc. are all just great features. Since its only a year old, most games are probably still not taking advantage of the hardware in it. You can see this from the last generation of consoles if you look at launch Xbox one games to games on xbox one released at the end of its lifecycle. An example would be Forza horizon 2 to Forza horizon 4/5. So while some games don’t look too different from last gen, the added smoothness and framerates in a lot of games makes the console a really good deal. (this sounds like a sales pitch but I really just love the console lol).
For halo I believe there is a 60fps performance mode on Xbox one x, so multiplayer will probably still be smooth. I’m not too sure about campaign on either the Xbox one s or x because we haven’t seen any gameplay so there’s a chance it could be choppy on those consoles. Strongly recommend you get one, or a series x if you’re able to find one/afford one.

I own the Series X and it runs very smooth and extremely fast, my younger brother just bought the Series S yesterday and I was blown away by how good it actually stacks up against my X. I was completely caught off guard to how small the console was! Very useful for people that need more space around their TV unit or setup. Anyway, apart from a slightly lower picture quality (even set at the same resolution, refresh rate and colour space) it still runs VERY close to the speed my X and also has a slot for adtional SSD’s as well.
I love my Series X and there is no way I would have chosen different but the S is a great value for money and I’d highly recommend buying one if you just want Next Gen for a decent price and availability.

SERIES-S runs the game 1080p/60 FPS
XBOX-ONE-X runs the game 1440p/60 FPS
The only advantaje of Serie-S on this game is the 6 secs loading times but if you buy a Generic SATA SSD on the XBOX-ONE-X you will get like 9 secs loading screens instead of 6 so unless you go for SERIES-X the upgrade is not worth

Exactly. Just throw in an SSD and you have a better machine for the job by far.
I own both and I’m surprised how little difference I can tell between many games like Forza 4, Hitman 3 and Halo Infinite. Most of the time you’d have to have them side by side to really notice anything. The only real noticable difference I have found is that some games like Forza 5 don’t offer a 60 fps option on Xbox One X. I say if you’re happy then don’t bother to upgrade right now. Also, yes, a USB SSD works fantastic on Xbox One X. Highly recommend it.

If you can nab that Series X, best investment ever, basically my Hardcore gaming PC for streams now
MCC runs amazing , and Halo Infinite is super clean
The 4K, HDR, and FOV sliders added to games running on Series X are super crispy and nice
Not to mention the load times and quick resume.

Nice. Frame rate, as opposed to loading times, are my big concern. Assuming the Xbox One X can run the Campaign at 60 FPS, I’ll be happy and no need to upgrade yet.
I downloaded the PC Multiplayer Beta last night and tried it out, and was impressed with how well it ran. My processor is the minimum requirement, but I was still able to play on High Graphic Settings with everything being just fine. This makes me confident the Xbox One X will handle things well as well.
I’m also surprised with how small the game is! The Multiplayer portion is something like 36 GB with the high res texture pack!
Thanks (and to everyone else for your replies)!

The 500 GB hard drive on the Series S is a no go. It is a bit faster than the One X but I would wait till you can secure a Series X.
300 bucks to get a small speed boost and half of your current storage space? Nah.

Absolutely love my Series X. Had since launch and use it daily. Love the speed, the power and most of all how it plays my games.
The frames are almost worth it if your looking to play halo infinite on anything other than 30 FPS the cheapest option is probably the Xbox
You are wasting your time with a Series S.
Series X is absolutely amazing in every way. I would never want anything else.
Pair it to a good 4K tv and you won’t want to do anything but play games.
