Thinking of buying MCC; questions

I am thinking about buying the Master Chief collection. Can someone tell me how large the population is and if the game itself is currently in an acceptable patch?

Pop is about 1500 most likely I see the same people every game, game is still broken, spawns and ranks don’t work.
Check back in a couple years maybe it will be fixed, well once h5 comes out they are leaving mcc so the pop will be even more dead so don’t buy it.

User mileage may vary.

The population is tiny. You can find games, but sometimes it takes a long time, then others it doesn’t, then there’s times you aren’t finding players but it just looks like you are, then again you can go all night finding game after game.

Some have it worse, others have it better. It’s very hit or miss it seems.

Look at the price of the game, and ask yourself “am I willing to waste this money it if doesn’t work?” If the answer is yes, then go for it. You will either waste your money as expected,or be pleasantly surprised.

It’s hard to give a better answer when people have had such drastically different experiences.

I find games in any playlist quickly. Don’t listen to the trolls claiming such low population. The game is quite regularly in the most played top ten. It’s a safe bet the population hovers around 20 thousand players. As far as how well multiplayer works it really depends on your location it seem. Majority in America seem to be having no issues now but main complaints are coming from over seas. Yes the multiplayer doesn’t work like it did before as far as ranks go but they do work. Also the only ranked games are the 4v4 games pretty much. Rumble Pit and BTB are unranked social playlist. The campaigns play great. H2A is great and grinding out the achievements can be fun as well.

The MCC is frequently in the “top played” category on Xbox LIVE. Towards the low end, but it’s there … which is good for four old games and also considering the reputation the MCC has.

The current state is pretty good.

Combat Evolved plays like it should. Halo 2 Classic plays amazingly. Halo 3 is weird still (a little bit, I can still play it and do just fine). Halo 4 feels 100x better than it did on the 360. H2A is decent.

There are still a few issues regarding campaigns as well such as progress not always being recorded and achievements not wanting to pop, but nothing too serious.

If you want to relive the campaigns I’m full HD and halo 1 and 2 remastered looking incredible then yes. but if you just want multiplayer I would pass on this as much as it hurts to say it this game has really meh multiplayer none of the awesome fun stuff is there… no btb heavys no infection in matchmaking. action sack no where to be foundit’s constantly the same maps over and over and over which is good for some If they hate certain maps but it lacks what h3 did where you would play all the maps and have a blast… there is no real incentive to keep playing no ranking up or leveling to speak of… yea there is playlist ranks but who cares. Honestly just get H5

I have tried off and on since launch but just got frustrated. This last update has brought some joy back to MCC. H4, H3, H2A and BTB are very much enjoyable.

Pretty much this. Halo 4 plays the best, in my opinion. Matches its playlist pop super quick and it’s over all a huge blast. Because everyone van choose their favorite starting weapon, be it AR, BR, or DMR. You get multiple play styles happening at once in a match, causing you to constantly be on top of your game and adapting to each situation. Unlike the traditional halo 1-3 where everything is dictated by the pistol and BR
