Thinking it over....

Why couldn’t 343 add in Campaign scoring or Theater?
I mean, the existence of the skulls shows that they were able to modify parts of the game’s code, and the achievements show that the game is capable of tracking things like time, types and numbers of enemies killed, and even whether or not you picked up certain weapons.
So why are we missing a feature that had been in the last 3 games? I would love to see my runs of Halo CEA’s levels stored on Waypoint with a breakdown of my kills, deaths, weapons used, vehicles destroyed, etc.

The lack of theater is a bit understandable…but again…I feel like since it was a feature in the last 3 games that it should have been included for CEA.

I know, 343 has screwed up Halo: Anniversary, sure we want the classic halo, but I mean I don’t want a half made game. The online multiplayer is crap and they won’t even fix it. The only thing I can really hope for is an update which would fix the multiplayer due to the fact that it is so god -Yoink!- laggy!

It’s weird…I’m kind of okay with 343 just reusing Reach’s multiplayer in lieu of recreating all of CE’s multiplayer, but I just don’t get why the campaign portion is missing so much from the previous games.
No campaign scoring
No Theater
Went from 4 to 2 player Co-Op
Skulls feel like they were lazily thrown in (even the descriptions of the new ones feels half–Yoinked!-)

I’m just hoping there will be a proper restoration of CE someday, one that places priority on the campaign first.

Skulls need to fit the game to make the experience enjoyable. Skulls that cause imbalance won’t work properly in a balanced game and will only defile it. There were a lot more fun skulls added but the formula still didn’t change and those fun skulls wouldn’t work with the difficulty skulls, some of which were horrible (Foreign, Recession).

Recession could have just affected the rocket launcher and/or sniper rifle.

Foreign could have just affected things like the plasma pistol overcharge, plasma rifle stun, and needler supercombine.

I would have liked to seen levels of effects rather than just a full effect.

I.e.

Assassins could have poor camo and full camo for enemies

Cowbell could have 2x force and 3x force

Blind could have removal of hud and removal of hud + first person model

Tilt could have just 2x damage weakness, just 2x damage resistance, and both

Boom could have 2x radius for explosives, 2x radius for melee (making enemies like Hunters much more harder to kill), 2x radius for both

It would have made gameplay much more interesting and customizable.

Theater and 4 player Co-op are an absolute must because they encourage replayability and time spent with friends (a la Halo 3).

Campaign scoring is nice and all but I’d like to see the medals come up even without it (as an option of course). I.e. I don’t always have the enemy in view (or the option to take a glimpse) when I throw a sticky at them and I’m not sure if I stuck them or killed them.

gotta agree with michael, the same happened with duke nukem, they wanted to stay classic and they made a game that kinda was crap compared to the new gen games that lately have been released

Because it’s running two engines at the same time…one of which can’t support theatre without being ridiculously laggy/crashing.

Campaign Scoring was never in Halo: CE, so they didn’t put it in. It’s a fairly useless feature anyway.

Playing Halo: Combat Evolved online with 2 people is equivalent to playing Firefight. Once again, it’s running two engines at the same time, one is seriously outdated and cannot be changed. Doing so, which 343 has already stated would change the core elements of the game. Something people would not stand for.

Try looking for the Skulls yourself instead of Googling/YouTubing them next time and they won’t be so “lazily thrown in”

I’d really like to see you make a game. No, seriously. Make a video game yourself and send it to me with all the features you think people would enjoy. I will give you a fair review and be completely honest. I’m not saying you need to have a degree in video game development to criticize a game, but when you do talk about the game, make sure your reasons are valid, important, and not picking at something so small it really doesn’t matter.
