Thinking About Buying...Guess Not

Was thinking about buying this game but reluctant ever since the MCC release. From reading around it looks like things haven’t changed much since then. Ever since bungie left things have been in a slow decline for halo. I liked HW1 but seems like they got rid of everything that was good about it and introduced pay2win. No thanks. And for everyone saying the bugs will be fixed soon…I refer you to Halo MCC.

Agree, 343 is ruining Halo with this not taking bugs seriously bs

BUT, HW2 runs smooth on Xbox One so i would definitely buy it, since most problems are pc server related i actually have my hopes up that 343 can pull this together.

As for pay to win, this is only in Blitz, which isn’t really a competitive gamemode, and it isnt that much of a problem either, you have to invest a bunch of money before it actually have anything to say

Now I am not saying I haven’t experienced issues, but the game is running perfect for me on Xbox. The PC version has some issues, yes, but it’s not even comparable to MCC.

Blitz is the only mode that has micro-transactions, due to the cards… obviously…
And bear in mind, Creative Assembly developed the game under supervision from 343i, so bug fixes will hopefully be implemented.
I mean it’s early days of course, but instead of holding onto past experiences from 343i’s problem with MCC, give Halo Wars 2 a try. It’s a different beast!

Its a great game but it has its flaws like any other game.

Pay to win only in Blitz not normal Multiplayer.
TBH I havent come across any players with “bought” decks in blitz

Honestly, I have not had many, if any, technical issues beyond achievements not popping up (but who cares? I can play the game fine and they seem to eventually pop).

Anyway, it’s a great game. If you enjoyed HW1, you’ll enjoy this!

This is much different than MCC.

In HW2 there are bugs. But not nearly the size and scale of MCC.

Blitz may be p2w but as others mentioned doesn’t feel like it at the moment. Plus it’s only one mp mode of many.

Don’t jump to conclusions.

Stop blaming 343 for not taking bugs seriously. Do you not realize if it wasn’t for their passion of Halo, this game would’ve never happened? They put passion and love into this game. And they did a dang good job on it. Connecting story lines, finishing story lines. It’s great.

MCC give it a rest. The time frame they had to work to put 4 titles, Forge, Spartan Ops on a single disc? They did a pretty dang good job. Microsoft was the one that pushed for the single disc use, and the release date. Don’t blame 343 for something Microsoft played a huge roll in. And then they threw in another FREE Map, with ODST, FREE.

Every game has bugs at launch, it’s just part of gaming.

Call me a fanboy if you must. Just do your research and quit hating.

it’s absolutely comparable. Most pc players cant even play the game online

A good job indeed, Halo Wars 2 is their best Halo game. Got nothing against the designers over at 343, however, time after time they show their programming teams lack off experience.
And 343 never has taken bugs seriously. MCC took forever to fix and still doesnt work like it should, they should have learned and used more time to test HW2.

It’s not hating to state bugs and glitches, it’s not hating to actually use consumer power to make game producers give us good games. No other industry in the world would be allowed this huge flaws in a product costing 80$. If we don’t complain, they wont use time on quality control in the future.

Imagine if you bought a car and all the lights didn’t work, and all the producers said was they’re working on a fix

Multiplayer is not pay to win, Blitz is so saying the game is pay to win is incorrect.
Plus this game is not even comparable to how many issues MCC had.

I think even the standard cards for blitz are decent in a spam loads of units kind of way. You also get card packs for levelling up and other things, I guess maybe achievements? Anyway I’ve had loads of card packs without paying any extra.

obvious troll attempt but if your going to it at least get your facts right. The general consensus is halo wars 2 is good, with very few bugs on console. As for pc isn’t it expected for their first major title to have some issues.

with regards to the game being pay to win your are sadly wrong. I haven’t bought any packs and am only level 14 and I have most if not all cards at level 4. The cards scale to level 6 then the stat increases are miniscule. It’s starting to sound like halo 5 reqs again. Yes you can buy all the card with money but you still need points to use them, not like you cam start the game with a scarab, hero unit and full pop of vehicle’s or air.

and as for mcc, stop beating a dead horse. I like many others bought mcc for playing the campaigns again and aside from the occasional crash it worked fine for me. I realise others both it for a chance to playbtheir favourites multiplayer games online again. But even then you have to realise how difficult it must be for 343 to have 4 separate net codes running pretty much at the same time.

TL;DR obvious troll is obvious

This game is worth $60 if you played the original. Trust me. You won’t be terribly disappointed like Halo 5

Cards arent really pay to win. By doing the entire story, all 3 tutorials, and 5 matches of blitz you’re deck will literally be able to counter any other playstyle.

Buying cards just allows you to ‘upgrade’ your units a little. My best example of this, lvl 1 rines vs lvl 3 rines only. Lvl 1 loses lvl 3 is 3 firing animations from another lvl 1 marine dead. The health/range/damage/shields you get from leveling up, which if you are buying cards is going to be expensive, wont really make you win matches. You’re still going to lose outright to tactics, card RNG, and overall use of units. My best example is this, I ran up against someone who clearly bought packs because just about every single stupid little unit he had was lvl 3 off the get go. I wrecked him easily with my basic lvl 1 and lvl 2 units in straight up fights because I knew what to use my abilities on, what should be countering what, focusing fire, and pulling back low health units. It was a landslide victory.

Game is still fun, and cheesy as Halo Wars 1 was. If you hated halo wars 1 dont buy this at all, if you loved halo wars 1 buy the hell out of this. It literally plays the EXACT same with minor differences and the biggest difference overall is blitz mode which would be the only ‘pay-2-win’ mode which isn’t really a pay-2-win mode at all.

You didn’t read my post thoroughly enough.

Halo 5 wasn’t a disappointment. Best Halo FPS to date. And that’s coming from a Halo Veteran.

Yes, I agree the game is definitely worth the $60.00.

I don’t recommend using these forums to base an accurate opinion of the game, this is definitively the first place many people will come to share their complaints.
I’ve been playing on xbox since Friday, the game has only frozen on me once, and I’ve only encountered one bug involving warthogs glitching out and flying all over the map (which was way more enjoyable than frustrating). I haven’t even touched the competitive side of things yet, only done campaign on all difficulties as well as the occasional skirmish and I’m still having a blast with everything. If you enjoyed the first HW and are looking for more I don’t think you’ll be disappointed, at least on the single player side of things but I don’t know what you’re most interested in.

I would hardly call Halo 5 best Halo FPS to date, but I’ll definitely argue with you that it has the best multiplayer, forge, and extent of customization than any other halo.

Still miss my Halo reach multiplayer more than these though. :expressionless: (Thats why I’d say I’d argue with you because Halo 5 MP is pretty up there overall)

Reach was fantastic. I do miss those days.

Halo 5 Multiplayer was nailed perfectly.

In terms of MP, yes. I’ve played Halo 5 almost as much, if not more, than Reach. However, the story completely left me wanting more. It seemed to be a bunch of redundant chases to get nowhere. They easily could’ve made the first half of the campaign a hunt for Chief and the last half of it is Chief teamed up with the Arbiter to finish the civil war on Sanghelios and initiate the hunt for the Guardians. Despite the campaign, most of Halo 5 was done well. Campaign and customization were my only gripes.
