After more than 10 years, I’ve still not got a 50 in Halo 3. Part of this was due to new releases, life commitments and interests in other competitive games as well as becoming more nervous when it came to playing at higher levels.
I’m only a 40 in Lone Wolves, a 39 in Team Doubles and a 33 in Team Slayer. The rest of the playlists I never really played.
Which is the best playlist to continue with? I wouldn’t mind going through Lone Wolves if I can get Team Doubles to 40 at least as then i’d have nothing to lose really. I’d love to do Team Slayer with people here but apparently the playlist is pretty much empty these days.
Perhaps I should not have left it so late into Halo 3’s life to go for a 50, especially as I’m probably not as good as I was back in the H2/H3 days when they were in their prime.
Back in the day everyone stacked their team with like minded friends/players and boosted. You could have a terrible player(s) on the team but as long as he/she got carried by the majority it didn’t matter. Wins a win.
It kills me some today still think halo3’s ranking system was the best and not terribly flawed/manipulated…i can still remember the BS

Well with a team based playlist, the team with the most knowledge will win (if their individual skill holds up).
For example, if you have a team that is fully aware of the spawn times for power weapons and the spawn locations for players per map, as well as able to hold their own in a 1v1 duel, then the team should win. To some extent, it’s what I love about competitive games, the upper tiers require a team that can synchronise well, though some players are good enough to adapt to any situation. It was the same when I got to Global Elite on CS:GO, teams that worked together well and respected team player and understood mechanics usually prevailed.
Granted, CS:GO is a different playstyle entirely, yet I feel that in the Team Slayer/MLG playlist that there are some rules that still apply that can give you an advantage (map knowledge, spawn locations, power weapon times etc) and the team that puts the effort in to learn, will win.
The Team Slayer playlist appears to be empty whenever I try to search (based in the UK) so I’m not having much luck so far. Having a 50 in Halo 3 would be nice because it’s something I’ve wanted to do but lost interest in doing over the years until now, but it’s becoming more difficult due to the amount of players left available in ranked playlists.
If Team Slayer is still populated and people are still up for playing, i’d be happy to play a few matches with some friendly folks but so far, my luck seems to show the playlist having a population counter of 0.
