If we pretend mouse and key board didn’t have a mother and wasn’t born as a option for players I still think that controller needs a buff in the aim assist department. Halo games were made originally just for the Xbox and the only option available was the controller. Aim assist was implemented because its hard as hell aiming precisely at a target with a controller. A good amount of assist is one of the reasons why the original games feel so good playing! I would hate to see a downgrade in the controller in an attempt to balance combat with mouse and keyboard players. Making the game harder for players for the sake of balancing is a terrible move in the wrong direction. Also before anyone brings it up, I don’t want to spend time trying to “get gud” or lower my sens when all I want is the game to feel as “gud” as possible when in combat. Why not give a enable/disable cross play, at least for competitive to solve balancing? Or does anyone else have good ideas for balancing?

Aim Assist needs to be only slightly increased. I would argue that the aiming in Infinite outside of some technical issues was great.
We arrive at a compromise here. Increasing the aim assist would make PC players complain. Lowering it would make the console or controller players complain.

They won’t be lowering the aim-assist at all.
Why would they, as soon as the game is released, all PC Players will destroy controller player if they keep the aim assist how it is right now.

10000% agree with you. Halo is first and foremost an Xbox game franchise made for controller users. I don’t have anything against people with M&K joining the fight, but to give controller users only slightly more aim assist than M&K users is insane. When using a controller you only have two thumbs to aim and for M&K you have your whole arm to aim (if your desk is big enough).
I feel Halo Infinite is almost made with M&K in mind. Making the MK50 Sidekick a starting weapon: A gun that fires 365 RPM is impossible to reach the max RPM on a controller with no triggerstops (pulling a trigger (11 mm) 7 times in roughly 1.2 seconds is impossible), compared to clicking your mouse (1 mm) 7 times in a 1.2 seconds.
Now you could argue that if Controller users will never face a single M&K user the next 10 years, this wouldn’t be an issue. But even between Controller users with and without triggerstops this is a HUGE deal when it comes to unequal starts. My controller has triggerstops and I can’t reach the max RPM on the Sidekick without completely fcking my arm up and getting RSI. Now imagine if a player is using the regular Xbox controller. I just cannot believe this gun works the way it does. Holy crp.
Nah I really liked the amount of AA. Most games have way too much in my opinion. I felt like it was actually me hitting shots in the beta, makes it way more satisfying. I know it felt jarring because every other game has insane amounts of AA but we only got to play a few days. Give yourself some time to practice and it’ll feel so rewarding when you do hit those shots.

controller player no play get better study 12 hour day art of thumbstick?
why come yesteryear gamepad player write similar word online computer mobile device?
me no understand
I too feel as though the Aim Assist is in need of a slight increase. I was able to play the flight on an OG Xbox One and the game ran fine, but I couldn’t help but notice that the Precision weapons felt a little off compared to past halo titles. It felt like it didn’t exist on them at all and it was much harder to properly aim when you’re used to years and years of assist on controller. Hopefully we can see an improvement in future “flights”.

You’re not a casual though and you want it buffed… interesting.

Yes I want it buffed. I want casuals to like the game so it maintains a large population. This isnt very hard to understand.

You hide behind this guise of “casuals need it” to push your own agenda. It’s fine, just interesting. Would a slight buff to aim assist really retain that many more players? I don’t know.
What I do know is if you increase aim assist you decrease skill gap. And I would have thought someone like you would want larger skill gap.

I just want aiming to feel better than it did in the flight. I think a slight aim assist buff would do that in addition to more aim smoothing. There’s no agenda bud. I want quicker matchmaking times and halo to be huge again. Making aim slightly easier IN MY OPINION will help with that. you’re welcome to disagree.
no. I know im prob in the minority but a game should not be playing for you. Infinite prob has some of the lowest aim assist of the series. After some setting tweaks, it feels fantastic

I do disagree because how many casual M&K players will be driven away by the game if they think controllers have too much of an advantage? This would result in M&K players leaving and the controller inflow would need to outpace the M&K outflow.
It’s not such a simple formula of: increase AA = increase in population. It’s a balancing act and I don’t think either you or I are qualified to make that assessment.
