Think about it...

Let me clear something up: I never distrusted 343. When the GI article came out, I was overjoyed. Halo 4 seemed perfect for me. I was still uneasy with how they presented the info. Maybe Game Informer just stated things wrong, but I felt unsure with how certain aspects of the game would be implemented. It wasn’t the features themselves that were bothering me at all.

I thought about the Armor Abilities. Being a lover of AAs in Reach, I realized that AAs were rather unfair, in this context: you could choose one AA and then get into a situation where the player is worse than you, yet you have the lower hand because of the AA you chose, and thus, you lose. No, I’m not talking about Armor Lock.

Active Camo. As a whole, it’s the most simple AA: You hit a button, you become invisible. There’s also the Radar Jammer that comes with it. Simple. But this concerns me.

It will give a player an extreme upper hand. Quite literally, you cannot kill what you cannot see. If you look close enough, sure, you’ll be able to eliminate an Active Camo user. But if you aren’t paying attention, you’ll get killed.

What if they camp? You could come around a corner, and they’ll ambush you. They recharge their Camo, you come back around after respawning. They’ve moved position a bit, however, and you get ambushed again because you don’t know where they are. If you can’t call out to your team that there’s somebody with Camo there (they don’t have headsets, you don’t have one, etc), then you’re literally screwed.

What happens when there’s a team of campers? I know that 343 will never ever make a Sword Base situation, but there’s a possibility that camo’d team could set up camp around a choke point. Not only will you be unable to find them, but you’ll be unable to kill them, unless your team comes at them with you. Like I said before, without calling out to your team, you are screwed.

There’s a counter to this: eliminate Active Camo from the Armor Abilities and make it a pick-up (maybe randomize where it appears so people can’t camp it’s spawn. Randomize it like they’re doing with all other weapons/equipment). This leaves us with 3 other Armor Abilities to choose from: the Thruster/Jetpack, Hologram, and this new “Forerunner Vision”. This is also good for Armor Abilities because you up the possibility of knowing what the opposing players will choose, eliminating some luck done with guessing (because face it: luck isn’t competitive). This hits two birds with one stone.

Even if this isn’t done to Active Camo, Halo 4 will be an amazing game. But if this is even considered, Halo 4 could be a lot better (I don’t know how it will play yet, but I have a feeling that it will play pretty good. After all, this is Halo).

I don’t think so.

I agree with this. However, 2 things.

If there is one person camping, its not impossible to deal with. Someone will get him eventually. That or you just dont go to that area (unfotunate in sword base.)

2: Teams of campers? If they are camping, they will have no access to powerweapons such as rockets. The Rocket launcher is an easy room clearer… That and grenades.

But, if they have all the powere weapons, invisibility and are all camping and you have a team the wont listen. Then yes, you are -Yoinked!-.

We honestly don’t know the changes to jetpacks and camo. Since they nerfed Sprint, i predict there will be other changes to balance out Camo and derp packs.

TBH, Camo/Boba Fett Jetpacks isn’t something players should spawn with. Hell the game would still be golden if it was just Sprint and nothing but sprint (i’ve faced the music; it’s going to become a stable of the series now)

Active camo has a timer, you can’t have it on all the time, people will get spotted.

I dunno maybe>…

If everyone is using Active Camo, then use Forerunner vision to find those campers

I guess so. But do we even know if Forerunner Vision does that?

if anything I think camo is underpowered due to the radar jammer which gets you spotted and the decreased movement is way to much, and if it annoys you, just throw grenades which is annoying but fair, and forrunner vision should oly be able to show the person in active camo in short spaced out flickers (if it shows their position)

its one thing I liked about reach I could play stealthily (as is my trademark)
through being able to spawn with it.

> But if you aren’t paying attention, you’ll get killed.

This needs to be fixed right now. I don’t care what 343 nerfs, as long as I’ll have clear warning for when I’m about to be killed out of my own stupidity. Its unfair that I should have to suffer for not paying attention.

We don’t know if there will even be a radar jammer, if they changed camo somehow by maybe shortening it even more, or if FV is the thing that counters it.

I don’t usually say stuff like this, but if you aren’t paying attention you deserve to die. The rest; well, if they’re camping around a corner the camo gives them a disadvantage sort-of, because then you know they are there, because your radar is scrambled (Scrambler from MW2?). So really in that situation you’d be better off without camo so that point doesn’t work either.

its fairly easy to kill camo users (myself included)
you should just pay more attention instead of walking into the same trap instead of adapting

Are you crazy?! Walking into the same trap over and over again is how you get better! I don’t know what this “adapting” is, but it sounds an awful lot like change, which as we all know is very, very bad. If I’m not paying attention, camo users (yourself included) should give me fair warning, so that I can eliminate the element of surprise and kill you every time. After all, surprise =/= skill.

I can’t believe what I’m reading. People actually think it’s fair to spawn with camo? You might as well spawn them with an overshield too.
