Think about getting HW2...

I was thinking about getting Halo wars 2, I’m not really a big fan RTS games, but its halo so I thought I would give it a try. Should I pass or play? anything i should know, like a big update or things to avoid?

Well I say buy but that is my opinion.

First ask yourself what do you want? You say you aren’t a big RTS player. Is that because you are not good ? Or just not into that genre of games?
Are you more interested in the campaign? Then buy it and play it and return?

If you say no to all of this just watch all the cut scenes on youtube haha.

Much like the guy above me, it depends on what you want. If you want to play an RTS then sure buy the game. If you just want the story and are fine playing an RTS, then sure buy the game. If you don’t want to play an RTS but want the story, then watch some playthroughs on Youtube, there are plenty of those!
Hope this helps

Well, basically i’m just bored. Halo 5 has kinda lost its touch, i’m just mindlessly grinding at this point. The other games i do play, i’m not really interested at this point. And, i guess i’m just not really a big fan of RTS games because I’ve never actually played very many.

If you are playing on PC I would hold off. There seems to be a very low population because of the game not working for the first two weeks. If you are playing on XBOX read below.

Halo wars 2 is unlike other RTSs because it easy to get into unlike a game like Starcraft 2. It also does not require the high actions per minute (how much clicking and stuff you have to do) in order to be competitive that other RTSs do. That being said it is easy to learn hard to master. Eight different heroes (more heroes to come with DLC) and two different factions adds a lot of depth and strategy to the game at high levels. There is a competitive game mode. I don’t know your issues with RTS games so don’t know if that help or hurts.

The balance is not perfect right now, but also isn’t too bad, but it really isn’t that bad until you get to a high level. The encouraging thing is how fast the team patched the game taking community feedback for almost all of their balance decisions.

There are 2v2 and 3v3 modes that are great and a great way to play games with your friends. I mostly play 2v2, but I also play 1v1.

Blitz mode is pretty awful, has one map, and is completely pay-to-win so don’t get the game for that.

Matchmaking isn’t great right now, as in matching people to your skill level in ranked, but hopefully as the population grows and skill rankings level out it will get bettter.

If you are into Campaign you will have to ask someone else because I mostly get games for the multiplayer so I can’t help you out there sorry :(.

The reason I like it is because I loved Halo Wars 1 and it is the only RTS that uses a controller. I prefer using a controller over mouse and keyboard. Yes, I know you get more precise controls with mouse and keyboard. Yes, I have played with both on all genres of games on PC and console. I would do better with a mouse and keyboard but I like the handicap and learning curve that comes with controlling an RTS with a controller.

Hope to see you playing HW2 soon I think it is a wonderful game that a lot of people would love if they gave it a try!

Honestly, RTS is a hard genre to keep alive for some games. I love the strategies of RTS games, and noticed HW1 HW2 have really lowered the complicity of it from other RTS games, and really keeps with the Halo universe flow to differentiate itself from other games, with Spartan hi-jacking vehicles, wielding Spartan lasers, energy wielding elites more in HW1, same ole typical weak annoying grunts that can still be a pest. All in all I love this game. Hope there is a HW3

Thanks for the information, I’ll definitely think more about getting it!

I have to disagree, the last I’d say 10 games I have noticed the matchmaking ranks of people was pretty close to each team in terms of ranks.

I usually play ranked 2v2 and it is usually a Example = 27/20 vs 25/18 same goes for the few 3v3 I play ranked for fun 45/27/20 VS 48/25/17 close enough

But in terms of league match making you can’t tell what leagues people are in so I dunno?

OP I think there is a demo in the store available. You could try it out for a bit before deciding to buy

Oh, there is? I haven’t checked the store in awhile. Thanks!

Go for it! Life’s a game

I’m going to ask the question that I don’t think anyone else has.

Did you play the first one? Because if not, play the first one first. It’s cheaper, and you won’t have to blow $50 on an almost brand new game to only determine you don’t like it.

At least try it out I say =D

I tried wars 1 and discovered it’s my favorite game! You never know until you try it

If it is people who are very low in rank, paired with someone high as hell in rank and they are on the same team, its most likely two friends who started at different times! I’ve noticed this in the small time we started playing that I think I’m the problem with the matchmaking, haha!
I don’t know what Algorithms can go into effect to solutionize matchmaking done in friendly interaction like this.

pass not worth the money unless you are a big halo fan
