The game runs very well, and plays pretty good. But, the issues which were present during development are seriously hindering the game. Even this early on.
They MUST change the XP system. We do not want to grind weekly and daily challenges to level up. I want to play the damn game. I’ve already found myself being forced to use the Commando Rifle (which isn’t exactly very strong) to grid challenges for 100xp. It’s dull and very quickly makes playing the game a chore. It also doesn’t reward good performance in a match, as medals and kill count is now irrelevant.
The customisation system is even more restricted than I realised. It is by NO means Reach-Style. I do not get why 343i are incapable of grasping the concept of Reach-Style customisation. Get rid of the armour-core system, and scrap armour coatings. The coatings are obvious battle pass filler, all of which do not match a colour sceme that I want to use. The armour cores go directly against the Reach-Style customisation, as generational helmets are now locked into a single armour-core. Come on 343i you were told exactly how everyone wanted it and you somehow manage to mess it up, again. If you want people’s spartans to be personal to themselves, why restrict the customisation? That’s an oxymoron, and a really stupid decision. If scrapping the armour coatings cant happen, just make them optional, and implement either primary/secondary colours, or panel-by-panel customisation (like you should have done in the first place).
Please 343i, listen to the players just a little more. The game plays good, runs flawlessly and looks awesome, but all that doesn’t matter if you go against your word of ‘Reach-style customisation’ and make the XP system a boring grind. I know it’s early days but this HAS to be nipped in the bud as early as possible.

Have to agree with you there, at least on the armour customisation, when I was looking through all I kept thinking was why are these helmets only available on this core? Also not sure if it’s me but some of the coatings seemed restricted (like the free one you get for the 20th anniversary only works with the Mark VII)

I can definitely agree on your point that the we are highly restricted in terms of armor coloring options. For me, I do actually prefer the system seen in the previous games where we are completely free to choose primary and secondary (and sometimes even tertiary) color for your Spartans.
My wish when 343 initially announced Armor Coating was that it was an option to choose color pattern where it was up to the player to find a nice color combination for the pattern.

I’m fine with the idea of armour coatings applying a camo pattern, or a certain wear-pattern of some sorts, but the current system is not an evolution of Reach’s colour/customisation style. It’s honestly extremely disappointing.

BR starts in BTB 100% need to happen.

To be honest, just having more start options in general would be nice. I want BR slayer back, and I’d like a mode with 0 bloom for an actual halo multiplayer experience.

In genreal, every Halo game has used similar customization systems to one and another with few minor exceptions. The first exception is that Halo CE and Halo 2 didn’t allow for any armor customizationbut did allow you to customize the color with 18 combinations in Halo CE and 324 combinations in Halo 2. In Halo 3, the number of options got greatly increased by allowing to customize individual pieces while and this feature has remained to some extent in most Halo games with the exception of Halo 3: ODST, Halo Reach Elite and to some extent Halo 5: Guardians where the number of options to reduced down to Helmet and Armor.
When it came to coloring options. Here is the number of combinations given to the player for the respective Halo games.
- Halo CE: 18 combinations
- Halo 2: 324 combinations
- Halo 3: 27,000 combinations
- Halo Reach: 900 combinations
- Halo 4: 841 combinations
- Halo 5: 3,600 combinations
I will at some point attempt to count the number of customization combinations in Halo: Infinite but my guess is that it has potential to beat Halo Reach due to larger number of individual customization options.
The number of customisable parts isn’t the issue, it’s the restriction placed on what parts you can and can’t customise. In Reach you could blend any generation of helmet you wanted, with any generation of any other armour piece. Yeah there were fewer overall pieces compared to H5, but you could use them all freely. H5 also really doesn’t have 3,600 combinations, as the majority of armour pieces were the same just with different patterns, so they aren’t exactly unique armour pieces at that point.
This armour cores and coatings system is not personalisation friendly in any aspect, regardless of whether or not there are more or less armour pieces to customise.
I saw this in settings can you please explain what this is
I think we are talking about different blooms. The one in the settings is a graphics option. The one I’m talking about is bullet-bloom.
Basically having no spread deviation when shooting fully automatic, like the old games had.
Graphics bloom is a component of ambient occlusion from what I remember.
