Things That Irked Me About The Campaign

A lot of things made me go “what” in Halo 4’s campaign, so here’s a few:

**The Composer:**WHYYYY couldn’t they have put it on installation 05, I mean, we had already fought on a ship earlier in the campaign. It was right outside the ring, all 343 had to do was pretend the humans didn’t pick it up and hey! We’re fighting on Halo again, just like old times. Also, the composer was kind of a flat idea compared to Bungie’s idea of the super weapon we call Halo.

The Didact’s Ship: At the end of campaign we were in Earth’s orbit, there must be tons of UNSC MAC cannons orbiting. Yes, there was an entire covenant fleet, but they all could’ve pointed their guns at the Didact’s ship at once and fired, considering a nuke destroyed it. That’s another thing, I know Master Chief had something happen to him because of the Librarian, but uhh, he just survives a nuke cause Cortana takes him into the virtual world? Is that right? That was one of the biggest wtf moments since the gravemind in Halo 2.

Inside Requiem: The covenant were waiting outside requiem for 3 years, but slip spaced inside of it like it was no big deal once Master Chief was on the scene. Also, that’s a bit too odd of a coincidence that when -Yoink- starts to hit the fan right after MC wakes up, infinity just happens to be cruising along in the area.

Some of these are opinions, and maybe I’m wrong, so I’d like for someone to expand my knowledge. Thanks

I especially agree about the “Infinity just cruising by pure chance”
I also think it was pretty ridiculous that Infinity was able to get airborne again once it had crashed. Do you even realise how big that ship is?? Did you see clouds of smoke swirling around it as plumes of fire emitted from beneath it as it took off? Nope just a few small flames

Cortana saved the Chief by encasing him in a shield made of hard light. When she interacted with him it was using a body made of hard light.

The Covenant made it inside Requiem because it opened up. They could not enter before that point in time due to the nature of the shield world. Entry requires moving through the portal that you see towards the end of the first mission.

I wont address your other points as they are more opinion based and you’re entitled to those views.

Thank you for clearing those two things up, I still thoroughly enjoyed the campaign and the artistic direction it took.

The thing you are being confused about is that the composer IS NOT a weapon. It was a tool to preserve organic beings. It turns organics into data to be restored later. However it malfunctioned and restored things wrong.

All the people the composer “killed” were not really killed. Just stored in a giant harddrive.

The infinity did not crash. It was layed to rest by the Didact on Requiem. He wanted it intact.

The infinity didn’t just cruise by. They retrieved coordinates from forerunner devices.

I loved the campaign and story of Halo 4 but at times I found there to be plotholes relying heavily on knowledge of the novels…which at the moment I don’t have but will since I loved reading The Fall of Reach and The Flood back in the day.

My only real complaint was the length of the campaign…I wanted more!

I still don’t understand the decision to tell major pieces of the plot through halo waypoint of all things, something not even in the -Yoink!- game.

Pay attention OP. it is specified in the game that

1: the orbital defense system failed to stop the didact’s ship (possibly because of its shields, while the nuke exploded inside the ship

2: the science teams researching artifacts on location were getting killed, makes sense to remove artifacts to study them in peace

3: Cortana specifies in the game “most of me is down there” meaning she used the teleport grid to teleport the chief away encased in the hardlight shield…notice how the debris fly past him in the background.

Also FUD implies that the infinity caught Cortana’s distress signal and then travelled to requiem
