Things I've Learned as a Bad Halo Player.

  1. Stay with your team or trail someone to provide support
  2. Lone Wolves don’t live long
  3. If you don’t shoot head shots, you might as well put down your weapon
  4. Sometimes bad things just happen in the game, suck it up
  5. Getting good at Halo takes time

NOTE: This game takes a lot of patience and don’t get me wrong, I’m still a bad player. I can’t see anyone just picking up this game having not played Halo before (like myself) and being good at it right out the gate. Wow…

Stick with it, you’ll come to love it, especially after the title update. You might already know this, but only go for the head after you’ve popped the shields.

> Getting good at Halo takes time

This times a million.

I agree with all of this, except for the first two.

I was a really good COD player and though, yeah… I’ll start playing Halo and dominate. NOT… I’m taking my lumps like a true ROOKIE!

I too am not good, but have begun to improve. Depending on the game type, SWAT in particular, it doesn’t always behoove you to stick together as this makes for somewhat easier pickings for an above average shooter. Lone wolves most often do die, but don’t let that tie you into following the same formula every time. Sometimes not following the group can allow you an element of surprise and sometimes a decent angle to get several shots on those who are following a group.

As far as the rest of your points go, it’s truth. Learn to shoot (the head), don’t be a whiner, and be patient cause the kills and points will come.

Good post. I agree…

Sad but true.

i’m just starting to work my way up from my noobie period kd deficit haha but it shows im improving in slayer (kd means nothing, kd spread is much more important in an individual game)

I wish I could send you back to the days of Halo 2 before all of this AA -Yoink-, those were the days of a real skill-full Halo game.

Glad that you are starting to pick up some good traits, Halo will take you places. A good Halo player is often good at any type of game, keep at it and before you know it you’ll be the sniper and not the one being sniped.

i support the last two but the others are not fully true, once you learn enough you can lone wolf it pretty well most the time i think, but i also think the first 3 go withh the sometimes bad things just happen part.

first, learn to die less
second, learn to kill more

Nice post TC.

It’s ok to die. We learn by doing, by playing.

Thank you for not demanding nerfs / buffs, in order to “improve”, like many others here. XD

Number three isn’t so accurate. If you’re shooting at someone full shields it’s easier to shoot body shots then go for the head shot. All the damage is the same as long as the shields are up, so you might as well go for the easier target (the body) until you drop the shields. However the rest is true. You have to practice and realize that stuff happens from time to time.

I agree with that.

I’m glad you’re not blaming your delayed success on Halo. This game is great!

Although I am totally psyched for TU 1.
