Things in H5 that you prefer over Infinite

It is excellent in 5. Hundreds of different helmets and armour. I still haven’t unlocked everything, but I am still trying.

The customization in Halo 5 is truly unreal! I love it.

ummm i dont know about that… imagine if they only made 30 armor sets instead of 200 and really focued to make them look really good adding new ones later

halo 4 options with extra like being able to pick a custom undersuit kinda like in MCC and option like what you have in reach with armor attachments

now that would be sick also playable elites

Make it in H5, like H infinite to costumize, would be dope!

Pff in halo infinite, everyone has the same things, like the standard grey suit, the hawk thing on the helmet, flames, ect. So boring when something news comes, we all select it than at the same time, h5 you can choose. Infinite you have to wait…

h5 doesnt have any sort of effects+ new players dont even customize their spartans so its their fault

What I like in Halo 5 more as in Infinite and what I like to be implemented in Halo Infinite:

Vehicle handling
Carbine
Free color customization

And the most important for me, would be a overall progression system. The grind to 152 is insane, but really fun at the same time.

But I am glad, Infinite doesn’t have spartan charge or ground pound. It just lacks long term replay value to me personally due to no progression system.
I really hope that comes in May.

I like MCC, 5 and Infinite and play them all. Which is really cool to switch between 3 great Halo games.
Now please a HW2 DLC or HW3 and I would be in heaven. ^^

The customization system in Hslo 5 is actually quite restrictive due to only a small amount of independent customization options. This leads to a relatively small amount of combinations compared to all of the items in the customization system.

The point is, that you have chooses to select an effect in halo 5, in halo infinite, you have to wait for one, so when it’s available, they all together select that one effect till a new one comes. It makes every player in a way the same

I think I know what you mean - in Halo 5, you choose a helmet, or armour, or visor, then pick primary and secondary colours. The MCC and Infinite, you can mix and match shoulders, forearms, legs etc.
The thing about Infinite, for me anyway, is the restriction to cores, coatings, instead of just picking colours and most behind a paywall. I’m not there yet, but Dad has unlocked everything in Halo 5 and didn’t buy a single req pack, he just did the grind and used RP from playing the game.
Halo 5 also has your rank. I’m currently at 112, Infinite just has a battle pass progression. Plus Halo 5 has Warzone and Warzone Firefight, I would love to see these in Infinite.

Pretty much everything.

Nothing works.
I disagreed with that statement for a long time, and made excuses for infinite “oh the gameplay is good, the movement is good”

Nah, it’s all trash.

The concept is trash, the netcode is trash, the relationship between 343 and the community has turned to trash.

So yeah, everything in halo 5.

  • No online DRM for the campaign (as far as I’m aware)
  • Sprinting preventing shield recharge in multiplayer
  • The existence of a server browser
  • Quicker content drops
  • Free-For-All showing the winner at the end

That’s about it.

One thing I vastly prefer in 5 is the unique “dance” it has compared to other Halos. Infinite has a decent 1v1 dance because the strafe is quick, but the magnum plus strategic use of thrust is so much more interesting.

The problem with Infinite’s customization, for me, is tied to some of the art direction implemented in the game. In an attempt to satiate the “OG fans” , 343i reverted to a gritty, “realisitic” art style for the spartan models. In doing so, they had to take inspiration from Halo Reach designs. Many of the Reach aesthetics are awesome, and fit the armor quite nicely. However, i look at the MkVII armor core “attachements” and can only see grey geometric shaped grey cut out affixed to the armor. Or cat ears for the helmets. Lets not discuss the atrocious helmet designs, with only one helmet that looks good- Mk VII.
While many would see Halo 5 as limited in customization, they had a myriad of different armor and helmet options, and yes, some were just re-patterned copies, there were many that actually looked good.
This is just my take. Im so far, very underwhelmed by Infinite, and continue to play Halo 5 instead.

Halo (In)finite has an art style which is way too reliant on nostalgia baiting and fanservice. They call this a “return to form” when it takes the cartoony factor way beyond 11 with all of the abhorrent nonsensical elements like the visor overlay, rainbow cyber mohawk, and please DO NOT get me started on the cat ears!

I’ve always preferred Halo 5’s style, especially because at least there, as you pointed out, you have a myriad of different armor and helmet options, with Centurion being my all-time favorite. Plus, Halo 5 actually has a lot of color options for the armor and emblems that you can freely choose unlike (In)finite which limits you to a small amount!

I also already made a LONG post about why Halo (In)finite’s art direction is terrible in another thread, and yet all of the “OG fans” bombarded me with toxic negative reactions. Why? They simply cannot handle when their disgustingly pathetic nostalgia bubble gets destroyed by a nuke-sized truth bomb like my post.

Fr, how could you look at H5 and say it’s a bad game? In the words of Frosty “you only could have a mental problem to say so.” lol

I prefer most of Halo 5’s artstyle myself. Admittedly, not all were great. I rather like the Elite’s return to thier sleeker, agile form. I prefer the Pelican returning to its more stealthy design-think F117 A, over the bulbous reskin in H4 and 5-more reminiscent of a Hind Gunship from the Cold War era.
The Spartans looked more athletic, agile, while still retaining the bulkiness of an armored supersoldier. More akin to Captain America meets Ironman.

My biggest gripe, when it comes to armor, is the way 5 was described as plastic and cartoonish. When, like you pointed out, we now have cyberpunk neon mowhawks, cat ears, flowers, but what the problem is at its core, is the flat, boring, playschool facade of the armor. 343 garnered criticism with Halo being too visually busy. They did a complete 180, and now it looks boring and bland. Devoid of any detail that memorable. Its all boring and forgetful…save for the Forerunner aesthetic, i really think they hit the nail on the head with that descision.

The best part of Halo 5 is it works!

The desyncing issues, the lag, the disconnection/kicks from games in Infinite persist to this day. 170 days post-launch and you still have a hard time completing a game. Name me another game that has had this bad of issues this far out. I cannot think of any!

The brass at 343 should all be fired and thrown to the curb. 343 has ruined the franchise. Find me another game that has lost 96% of their player base as fast as Halo Infinite?

Hell, Starcraft 2 which is 12 years old has more people playing it today than Halo Infinite does. It’s disgusting.

I miss Blue team. I liked them finally being in a Halo game…

This is just my experience from playing Halo MCC, Halo 5 and Infinite in the evening hours from Germany.

Halo 5 has currently the quickest loading times into a match (30 to 90 seconds). Then MCC and then Infinite.
