Things in H5 that you prefer over Infinite

It was a good game in the context of being modern and not pander to nostalgia there was some failures in term of story consistency. the crisp movement and tone of be a spartan don’t feel spongey and bland. Yes classic halo made halo i was a big advocate for it to evolve beyond the same-ish tone from a era no longer new but still it could have a classic multiplayer while catering to the new crowd.

Halo 5

  1. I prefer collision detection of enemy players. However I like infinite with it turned off for friendlies.

  2. The weapons are punchier. Thier is a lot of redundancy. But they all could nab you a kill. However halo infinites br is on point and the sandbox has a better variety of niche weapons.

  3. Starting out with spartan abilities. I actually prefer infinites take on equipment but I’d at least like to start the game with something.

  4. Even with a fraction of the population halo 5 has more modes available.

  5. Vehicles are better

  6. Fiesta plays better

  7. As lof right now halo 5 has forge

  8. Halo 5 has 2 maps I’d consider to be top tier. Plaza and Coliseum. They are not elites like lockout. But nothing in infinite is top tier at the moment. Plaza would actually work well imo with halo infinite gameplay. Hopefully they bring it over.

  9. Halo 5s after action report is cleaner and shows more info at a glance

  10. DMR thier really isnt a compromiable weapon in infinites sandbox unless you gently pull the commando which is so twitch at the moment no one really does it.

    1. I Weapon attachments were extremely fun in halo 5. I am always changing my weapons attachments based on the situation.

I thought the lootbox system and massive amount of filler content with no way to pick what I want was horrible but halo infinite makes halo 5 look angelical in its ability to earn everything through playing. Getting a guaranteed 2 permanent new unlocks roughly every 30minuets is night and day compared to pay $5 for the color red on a single armor kit and $7 for blue.
  2. thrusters being standard. I miss ground pound and charging melee too but thrusters are sorely missed.
  3. DMR, SMG, magnum, cov carbine. Mostly the DMR and magnum though.
  4. the slower Time to kill. It was fast but felt more like halo than apex, COD, or battlefield. Infinite feels too fast like those other games.

Wow… so where to begin…

  1. The weapon variations
  2. The vehicle variations
  3. The SR1 - SR152 ranking system
  4. XP awarded based on how good you play
  5. You can use ANY helmet with ANY body armor
  6. The fact you can CHOOSE what colors yo use on you helmet/armor
  7. You can CHOOSE what colors you use on your Emblem/Name Plate
  8. YABDA the MERCILESS as an announcer!
  9. The gravity hammer
  10. The plasma pistol has an EMP charge
  11. There were personal commendations that could reward u with unique emblems
  12. SPARTAN COMPANIES!
  13. With Spartan companies came Company (or Group) commendations that gave out 2 unique rewards
  14. The fact you can earn [almost] everything via gameplay
  15. You could buy things (req packs) if you wanted to spend money but could earn grinding
  16. You earn Req points (in game currency) to buy stuff WITHOUT the need to spend real money
  17. ASSASSINATIONS!
  18. Warzone games
  19. Players vs AI (and not spartan Bots) enemies
  20. Spartan Abilities: (Spartan charge/Bash, Ground Pound, hover, and always able to use thrusters)

And this is basically what i could think of relatively quickly

Thrust and Stabilizers. As equipment, thrust is easy enough to stay equipped with in Infinite. But the lack of Stabilizers still throws me off sometimes. Never realized how often I’d pause mid jump.

Also halo 5 encourages finishing the fight with it’s faster charging shields and inability to recharge them during sprint. Halo infinite is the opposite. The shields charge at a slower rate and there is no penalty for recharge while sprinting. So everyone cowers in the dirt

Player collision. Emblem colors(at least you could pick em). Infection, Castle Wars, CE playlist. The shotgun, the magnum.

The movement and momentum. So smooth, so fast. I liked being fast in Halo 5 and it’s something I will always miss.

Game was really smooth and had a way better ranking system

Seems to me throughout this whole thread you haven’t given a solid argument as to why thrust doesn’t work. It’s clear you just don’t like it.

It’s been explained to you many times. People cower in the dirt now. They stay behind walls. They don’t engage. This is by far the least interesting Halo in terms of gameplay to date because if how slow and boring it plays.

Thruster is a game of rock paper scissors. No longer is aiming your gun and hitting your shots important, because you can thrust in any direction and throw the battle off. And I already know your response - “ it’s fair because everyone has it” which to you a valid point however to me it breaks the core gameplay loop of Halo. This is one of the reasons why a vast majority of fans left the franchise. If people liked Thrusters and ground pound and all these other gimmicks then we would have had them in Infinite. But no.

Please don’t tell me I’ve not given a solid argument, I see you on these threads a lot and you don’t listen to anything others have to say. I’ve given my reason for not liking it numerous times you just don’t seem to get it. Just like you have your reasons for liking it, to fulfill this weird power rangers fantasy, or something. Because it definitely does not feel like Halo :joy:

I just played a 1v1 in halo 5 last night. Aiming is VERY important. It didn’t matter how good I used my thrust he was able to perfect me and I was able to perfect him

Just admit it. You can’t keep up with the thruster pack. Because what your describing just simply does not exist especially in high level play. If you thrust out the way I CAN FOLLOW YOU. It’s not like thrusting out the way is the end all be all. If your not good at aiming you won’t be able to track someone thrusting.

Ok too of that all the chain combos are able to put me in front of him more often to shoot him.

For example. He’s on top mid on truth and I’m in a base. If I had no abilites I wouldn’t be able to challenge him while he’s one shot. With no abilites he gets to stay up there supressing the spawns. With the abilites your able to break that cycle and push.

You just simply can’t give an argument as to why it’s rock paper scissors when there is no 3 options.

You have yourself and THE option to use the thrust.

Not you have the thrust and he has the grapple and the third guy doesn’t have anything THAT would be rock paper scissors

Of course aiming is important, however it isn’t the only key factor when in a gunfight. You’ve just admitted that thrusters and these chain combos are also needed for high level play which is not what Halo was made for.

I don’t know where you got the assumption that I can’t keep up with players who’ve mastered this. I was Onyx rank in several seasons in 5, I admit I’m not the absolute top player, but I am in the high percentage.

I don’t have the option to use thrust, I have to use thrust and all these abilities to keep up with other players.

I don’t want to talk about grapple hook because you don’t understand equipment in Infinite is the same as picking up weapons on the map. If you really think Halo should be about fair gameplay, then there should be no power weapons, vehicles or map weapon pickups. We should all start with a br and magnum and keep it that way the entire game.

I never said “needed for high level play”.

This is why I don’t take you seriously because you out words in my mouth.

My point was high level play is where you will see your arguments not working.

If you can keep up then where is this “escape” coming from?

If someone shoots you and you thrust diagonally the other player should have the skill to snap his reticle to you OR use his thrust to match yours OR he waits for you to use yours and then he uses his.

If your a decent player like you say then there is no “escaping”. There only is. “You let him get away”.

In high level play my “escapes” are met with grenades. They literally prenade where I’m going to land from my thrust slide jump. So predicting is actually not that difficult. There many be hundreds of combinations of moves in halo 5 but there is a limit. It’s not random when you account for everything.

Where the player is.
Did they use their thrust
How many grenades did he throw

There’s ways to track everything and you can only track everything if everyone is moving the same.

With the equipment you have one person moving faster than the other. It creates a lopsided battle. I already have many clips of this happening where it’s just a mess of abilites all happening at once. It’s almost as bad as the spartan charge situation. You can’t thrust away from meeles anymore so people sprint up to you and meele you and if they have an ability they can close the gap even farther. All of it is super unbalanced.

Picking up equipment is not the same.

You have yet to point out a weapon that gets you half way across the map like a grapple can

These are not the same and will never be the same.

I’m saying power weapons, and power ups are ENOUGH . There is no need for extra. It’s already worked in older Halo WHY do we need equipment. I bet if you removed all the equipment everything will work just the same on the maps

And no. There should be sepreate playlists with sepreate weapon sets. Ranked with br or pistol and unranked with AR pistol. Like it already is
