Hey, 343 community, I’d like to address some things wrong with Halo 3 and Halo Reach that I’d like to see improved in Halo 4.
What I’ve noticed with Halo, Bungie and hopefully not 343i, is that they care more for the competitive community more than their casual gamer fanbase. I realize that the competitve community is much more large than the casual community, but you need to spread the love, like nutella on a sandwich. The main issue is that you’ve edited the Halo: Reach feel. It’s not Halo 3, stop trying to get the Halo 3 hardcore fans back. They complained about losing the BR, the armour abilities(Granted there are some issues with armorlock), the ranking system, and weapon spread. What did you do? Appease them, and they’re still not coming to Reach. The casual players don’t want a carbon-copy of the previous game, and liked Reach the way it was on release. The addition of TU to 75% of the playlists aggrovated me quite a bit. I don’t see why the DMR needed a reduced spread, or bullet damage needed to bleed through to health. It was a terrible idea to appease the competitive community THAT WASN’T PLAYING IN THE FIRST PLACE.
Another issue is that the Co-operative matchmaking servers barely even exist, the ammount of care given to them seems minimal. Every game played in Co-operative matchmaking has lag, even with just two people. I played with a friend, a guest, on my console in the Firefight doubles playlist and there was still terrible lag. This issue NEEDS to be fixed. The firefight and co-op campaign servers need more power to run the massive areas built in the maps, along with the AI.
I read one sentence and stopped. I’m sorry but have you seen Reach? It is the most casual Halo ever, and you’re trying to tell me it was catered towards the competitive gamer?
Casuals don’t need reassuring that the game they are planning on buying is going to be good to them skill wise. Competitive players do need reassuring, which is why 343i are putting so much emphasis on the matter.
EDIT: Carried on reading. Saying Halo Reach has no competitive community is also stupid. I play it from time to time and enjoy the DMR spread reduction but disagreed with the bleed through on bullets (melee is OK to me) and I would say I am a pretty competitive player.
I agree on the Firefight/co-op campaign front. The net code used for these really does suck if you play with someone out of country/other side of country. They should definitely try to make this better, as it does have a fan base.
The title update changes were meant for the competitive community, which they tried to get back. Maybe you should read this before you try to make an argument.
Edit:
The competitive community is extremely small compared to Halo 3, because of the changes. The spread was fine without deduction. MLG + TU ZB SLAYER have less than 2000 total players almost all times. Where as Halo 3 had 20k + at almost all time.

That’s because Reach is already heavily casualized. There isn’t much room to make it more casual with an update without completely alienating the competitive community. It made sense to go the other way and try to make it somewhat more competitive.
Reach in my opinion doesn’t work without bloom, and some of my friends agree. The DMR becomes the ultimate weapon without bloom.
I’m a competitive player 5% of the time, I’m just asking that 343i takes time to address problems seen by the casual players also, instead of just focusing on the competitive.
The co-op playlists need serious re-haul server wise.
