Things I hate about Halo 4's MP and Custom

I will just list every thing that I think should be fixed for matchmaking:

  • Join in Progress is probably the stupidest thing ever added to this game. Why would I want to join a game that ends before I get the chance to spawn just to get a loss?

  • Why was DMR changed from 5-shot to 4-shot? It dominates BR in any range, Lightrifle only compares with it in long-range and Carbine only compares with it in Close-Range.

  • Most of the maps are horrible in this game and are not even compatible with the playlists. For example, Complex is almost like a BTB map and is way too big for a 4vs4. Most of the maps are way too big for 4vs4 playlists. In my opinion they also should bring some old maps from previous games. For example a remake from a Pit or Lockout would be great and not just a cheap version in a forge like we have seen in Reach which was a total fail. I hated how in the end of the Reach instead of playing the original maps, you ended up playing all the forge maps, which made getting the map based achievements extremely hard.

  • Lack of gametypes is really annoying and the fact that each gametype has it’s own section instead of just having a single playlist that has all objective gametypes in it. I can’t explain how annoyed I am about the fact, that I have to keep playing BTB Slayer and have no chance for objective gametype in it.

  • I hate how they have taken things out of the game that made no harm in the first place. For example it’s completely limited that there is no way to see if the players against are in a party or playing by themselves alone.

  • There should be a penalty for quitting a game. It’s limited that I have to wait for the timer to reach 0 because there is only one player on the opposite team left who is afk due to not even having any will to fight in 4vs1.

-I don’t get the idea of getting plasma grenades from the ordnance drops and as a start grenades. I haven’t seen any other grenades there, why should there be plasma grenades either? Also the the thing that you start out with 1 pulse grenade and with 2 frags or plasmas is stupid. Having plasmas as starter weapon makes land-based vehicles almost useless too.

  • I don’t even understand why did they add this thing that when you get shot your scope doesn’t go off. This just makes people with snipers the worst nightmare you will ever face in long-range. Instead of trying to shoot the sniper, you have to run for your life. Also this is one of the things that makes DMR so overpowered.

  • The amount of unnecessary invisible walls I have encountered really grinds my gears. I feel like they put them just because they were lazy to complete that area. I can’t tell how many times I have died because of those walls.

  • Whoever was the mastermind behind the idea of bringing the exp cap from Reach should be hung from his balls and stoned. What makes it even worse is the fact that you can Reach the cap without even playing much at all.

  • Medals. W H A T T H E H E L L? 343 basically removed every medal that made sense and added all the useless ones. Why is there a medal for every damn thing you do in the game. They give medals for normal kills now? Why? Where are all the weapon specific killing sprees? Why do we have weapon kill specific medals now? I get like 50 medals each game when in Halo 3 for example I barely got 10 medals for one game.

  • The lack of customization in custom games is unbelievable. They basically removed a lot of useful things and added a lot of useless things here again. Why is there no race gametype anymore? If people remember SPEED HALO from previous games, that gametype can not be made anymore due to lack of customization options.

  • Same thing with forge, it lacks too many things that we had in previous games. See the text above.

  • The “perks” are just basically copied from the CoD series. Some of them make no harm for the matchmaking, but for example a perk that increases the explosion radius of the a grenade is just ridicules and ruins the multiplayer. I don’t see point of increasing the radius of motion sensor when it’s already big enough and you can have Promethean Vision too.

  • One of the biggest things I probably hate about the game is that there they took away the weapon spawns, which we had in all previous games. Because lack of this, basically the whole game just concentrates on the middle of the map. For example, I played Vortex and I saw no one EVER visit the buildings on both left and right side because basically nothing spawns there and makes the buildings completely useless

I agree with everything you are saying, although I’m not as frustrated about these things as you are. The only people who are really having a lot of fun in the Halo 4 MP are the die-hard MLG-like players. Because they’re good at killing. And the only reason why I’m having fun is because I’m good enough to sort of compete with those people.

I do think that 343 should have brought back a couple more maps from Halo 3 and I am extremely confused as to why they have bastardised the medals system. Medals don’t even register in some game types.

What I am happy about, however, is that they’ve made dedicated multiplayer maps for Halo 4. Reach was complete -Yoink- due to all the MP maps being recycled from the bland campaign. As a result, weapon and player spawning was screwed up. Bungie became lazy with Reach. To add to MP map -Yoink-, I HATEHATEHATED the user-created maps that were implemented into the playlists. I think everyone’s with me on that front.

But I digress. So far, I’m happy with Halo 4. 343 still has a lot of tweaking to do so anyone who’s angry with Halo 4 should just hold their tongue for now, in my opinion. Be happy, the chief is back! :smiley:

These two points are pretty contradictory. In previous Halo games, a team full of quitters was really annoying. Now, join in progress almost eliminates this problem.
