Everyone has posted about what they don’t like about halo Infinite, so this is my list.

Aim assist
It doesn’t exist on enemy models. I recently discovered that aim assist that we’re used to does in fact exist only when ADS on a vehicle. I pointed my crosshair at a passing warthog ever so slightly and it actually tracked the Warthog across a small width of my screen. Why this doesn’t apply to enemy character models in general. Perplexed. -
Weapon spawns
In every Halo game to date, weapon spawns have remained the same on maps irrespective of the game type. Unless the game mode had certain options to explicitly hide certain weapons types, you knew where stuff was. Infinite doesn’t do this though. In Infinite, a Battle Rife may spawn on the wall in say CTF, but in Total Control or Oddball, it might instead spawn a Sentinel Beam or Commando Rifle. Not only is this confusing, it makes challenges incredibly difficult to even attempt. -
Challenges
I find it both bizarre and annoying that you can only focus on 4 challenges at once. It’s such a dumb design decision to force players to complete specific tasks before they can even move onto different ones because they’re locked to ‘win 3 CTF matches’ or ‘kill 3 people with the oddball’. You’d complete them quicker if you could work on all of them, but alas no. In extension to this is why on Earth can you not start working towards a new challenge after you’ve completed an existing challenge in a game? To explain further. Say you have 4 active challenges and then 1 remaining inactive challenge. If you complete 1 or more challenges during a game so your last inactive challenge then becomes active. You can’t actually progress that challenge unless you go into a new game. It’s so stupid because I’ve actually completed inactive challenge requirements before but because it needs a new game to start tracking, I have to do it twice. -
Pre-game lobby
The pre-game lobby has been a huge part of Halo since the beginning. Even Halo 5 had a pre-game lobby. Albeit stupid and overly minimalist. You can no longer see your whole team or enemy team until the game starts. You can’t see the map & game type you’re playing until it starts. Why was this removed? It was great in Halo 2 seeing who had the Bungie nameplate. In Halo 3 seeing who had the best rank and in Halo Reach, seeing who had what armour. Now, you queue alone and suddenly get flung into a game. -
Mid-match roster management
During a game if you have someone playing rap music or shouting at their child (I heard that one 2 days ago), you can’t mute them during a match by bringing up the scoreboard. You can do this, but it’s convoluted and you wouldn’t know unless someone told you. For what’s it’s worth, you have to press start to bring up the pause menu, hit the community / social button (for Xbox it’s the weird box button) and then look at recent players and mute them there. Please fix this. -
Hit registration
This is hit and miss (lol) a lot of the time. I don’t think it’s my connection as it’s reasonable and generally shooting isn’t affected. But melee in this game feels like a gamble every time. Sometimes it registers and sometimes it doesn’t. On some occasions the enemy is able to hit me twice with the space of me hitting them once. I have no idea how that’s even possible. -
Coatings, armour & the shop
Micro transactions aren’t nice. You get the picture. I just really, really despise the fact that you can’t have armour coatings on every core. You can’t use armour kits of every core and you also can’t modify armour kits either. The whole customisation side of Infinite is the most restrictive I’ve ever seen and on the face of it, it’s the most advanced one yet. Coatings which so far all seem to be solid, washed out colours are too expensive. There’s barely anything in the store to even buy and any armour worth using is only attainable in the upper echelons of the battle pass. Customisation is overwhelmingly weak. -
Spawns
I feel Halo as a franchise has always struggled with poor spawns. You respawn too far away from the objective making it almost impossible to make a comeback after death. I also feel like the game hasn’t been properly tested either. Last night I spawned for the first time into a game. The camera did that zoom in thing towards my spartan and when I could actually control my spartan, it teleported me into some water and I died instantly. There have been other instances where I’ve spawned into a game under the map and can’t do anything (I have reported this). -
Vehicles
Not much explanation needed here. Vehicles bounce off each other. It’s weird and shouldn’t happened. Two Warthogs going head to head should incur a lot of damage to both. They currently just bounce off each other and it’s just stupid.
That’s everything off the top of my head.
Thanks for coming to my TEDx talk.
