Things Cooler than a BR

  1. A classic Ray Gun. Acts like a mid-ground shotgun, firing a slow-to-expand ring of energy that dissipates at a certain range. Powerful up close, useable at midrange, useless at long range.

  2. Ground-Combat Drone. User-directed, self-propelled anti-personnel robot. User holds an RC controller, and the drone moves to wherever the player’s reticule is pointing. The drone will target enemy units within its line of sight and fire automatically. Player must visually direct the drone with their own line of sight. On-board weapons would be weak, integrated armor would be substantial.

  3. Accelerator. Forerunner handweapon. Fires a scant beam, targeted area violently repels objects up and away, similar in function to a ‘Vehicle Lift’ from Reach. Effective against vehicles, soft structures and grenades.

I should specify that these are not ‘utility’ weapons, just cool ideas.
Feel free to add, but think sharp - no mid-ground carbines here, please.

This is a joke Right?

Why are you so scared of the BR?

Aha, yes, it is a joke that so many people want the same gun in every game. Maybe I wasn’t clear, but the ideas listed above are exactly as advertised: new and creative ideas that are more entertaining than a BR. Halo has seen 5 iterations of the same gun, excluding the magnum, so I figure it’s time for something else. What I am scared of is the lack of imagination some of you show. I’ve seen people that think smashing the BR and DMR into the same gun is creative. It’s sad, really.

Sorry, but this is a total no. People know what they want. Which game was your first Halo, by the way?

AND… If the Br’s bad 'caus it’s been in more then one Halo, then what about the:

  1. Lancer: Gears of war-3
  2. Iron sword: Every Elder Scrolls
  3. Grenade: Every game, EVER.
  4. Guns in general, they’ve been around too long now, so let’s get rid of them all together, forever… -.-

Liquid nitrogen?

My first Halo was CE. I’m sure you know what you want, but don’t think you speak for everyone when you say [everybody wants another BR]. I don’t, and there are thousands like me who feel that 5 versions of 1 weapon is enough.

If you like the BR so much, I sure hope you like Halo 3. You may have to cling to the past if you want to cling to the past.

Don’t be scared of change. It’s happening all the time.

> Liquid nitrogen?

Word. Hella more fun than a BR

> …the Br’s bad 'caus it’s been in more then one Halo…

Wrong. It’s bad because it’s a perfect weapon, with litte-to-no flaws and zero entertainment value. A ‘utility weapon’ is as boring as it gets, at least the CE magnum had some character to it. It didn’t feature a massive clip or giant range, it was humble despite its punch. The BR was a cheap ripoff, and the DMR is a disgrace. Not to mention the Carbine and the Needle Rifle, borne of zero thought or imagination. A new trilogy deserves fresh, new ideas.

new guns are fine, but leave in the old favs. There is no reason to take out the BR. It would be nice to see them make some of the guns that are absolutely worthless, worth picking up though.

So a 3 shot burst rifle that makes perfect since for any soldier to use has zero entertainment value… Well thats your opinion, but it’s weird that you’d down the BR, but be ok with the CE magnum. I’d say 3 shots to the head make it an even more perfect weapon than the BR. (btw, the BR isn’t perfect.)

The magnum packed more of a punch, yes. But it had a smaller magazine and a shorter scope, meaning you really had to pick your shots for it to be effective. As for the BR and all its cousins, not only is the magazine deeper, but the scope is twice what it used to be. So what used to be a challenging but worthwhile sidearm is now a bloated, over-useful safety blanket that takes almost no skill to use. Just point and shoot, the three-shot burst will take care of the rest. A weapon that works in all cases is boring. Especially when others only work in one or two cases.

Canon be -Yoink!-, I don’t want another BR spinoff. Being able to easily dominate your foes at any range is not my idea of entertainment. God-mode is only fun for so long.

Do you mean replace the Br with one of the options you listed above?

> Do you mean replace the Br with one of the options you listed above?

No, read the post again.

It’s tough to not be scared considering most changes made in Halo have been for the worse.

^ Wrong attitude. I assume you mean Reach, right? Our boy Frank was away on that one, already working on Halo 4 since ODST. Without him Bungie fell for the Modern Warfare scene, and failed. O’Connor is smarter than that.

If you want proof of that, his name in the credits of Reach is for ‘franchise director’, meaning he made sure it said “Halo” on the box. His attention was doubtless turned elsewhere.

I want to play a Halo game.

I wish they would make a stick for a weapon that would be very cool 3 wacks and one to the head YOUR OUT!

Haha yeah, or maybe the new utility weapon is your hand held out like a gun. BANG yer DED
