They're Updating the Motion Tracker (Radar)

Info here … though no specific details such as range as of right now. Guess they’re testing. Says it’s all based on feedback and such, but they are going to change it, so hopefully it goes well: https://www.halowaypoint.com/en-us/news/team-arena-winter-settings.

To me the motion tracker should be a set standard in Halo. Why they made it smaller made no sense. Except to make their noobtastic Spartan charge more viable and effective.

You’d think that would be all the more reason not to reduce it! Besides, once they initiate the charge, you can’t thrust out of the way, it still impacts you. That -Yoink!- locks on hard if they’re close enough. It’s like Halo 2’s sword lunge (okay, maybe not that bad). There’s very little getting away from that, so a little heads up would be nice.

OMG, OMG. omg.

This is big news to me! Thanks Martini!

18 might be good for Pro’s who barely use it, but it just feels a little too small to me. It was always a defining feature of previous titles, and maybe it was a little too good then, but in Halo 5 it feels pointless.

343 have really picked up the ball again, I wonder if this has something to do with Chris Lee.

Notice though that this is in reference to esports. I am guessing then that this will only be for the Team Arena playlist. That would be unfortunate.

I’m not sure why they say it’s an issue all of a sudden. There’s been a superabundance of commentary on this subject since the game launched.

> rushed to respond to recent feedback

> Over the past few weeks, players and fans alike have been discussing the desire to test an updated radar that behaves differently from the current system.

When? Soon™

> As a result, the Halo World Championship 2017 will feature default radar settings while we actively evaluate new options for 2017 and beyond

Looks like Arena only.

> As we get closer to the end of the HaloWC 2017, the updated radar options will receive a testing period with both pro teams and public alike, with the goal of ensuring that we’re striking the ideal balance across the board for all aspects of Halo 5 Arena gameplay and upcoming seasons.

I don’t know, but at least they’re finally doing it? Better late than never?

… what do they mean by “players and fans”? Are there fans who don’t play who don’t care for the motion tracker? o_O

Oh, and 343: it’s a “motion tracker”, not a radar.

Did they stop multiple of the same power weapons from happening?

> Specifically, these updated options would give more depth to the radar, allow players to manipulate it in different ways, and give players the ability to determine which Spartan abilities / actions appear on radar. These updates will take a bit of time, however, both to develop and properly test with each of the aforementioned systems.

Don’t get me wrong I am glad we now know they are working on this, but really? Like, how long has this been an issue the community has been talking about, and still, “These updates will take a bit of time…”? I just don’t see why that is. Unless, it was something that was ignored, in a way, and only recently have they decided to tackle the issue. Hmmmm, kind of a bummer.

Why now? People have been against the new radar since launch

I’m guessing they’re switching competitive settings so that only sprint and spartan abilities (minus clamber) show up on radar.

I loathe Spartan charge, worse thing about H5 especially in ranked play easily. I also hate how it does the same amount of damage whether they hit you full on or even if they graze you or just contact you from a distance. It’s a get out of jail free card for being late on the trigger when sprinting.

this… and the fact that enemies pop out of nowhere…srsly, im so used to the motion tracker from previous games that this is almost unplayable for me. im almost always on wz due to this (with the exception of super fiesta and btb with company)

Wonder what card 343 is gonna play with the motion tracker for it’s fix. Hopefully it’ll be a good card and beneficial for community instead of the big name MLG teams/youtubers and hopefully not a “joker” card.

if u think spartan charge is annoying now put on upgraded meelee for an even more op spartan charge.

Thanks for the info. I hope the Radar goes back to 25M.

Not relative to the topic at all. But this guy right here ^

hes a warzone assault guy

I’ve match with and against him like 157 times. I’m actually seeing a whole lot of way pointers in mm these days.

This is interesting news indeed!!

I have to admit, I just don’t understand 343I way of thinking a lot of the times though. IMO you should show up on radar no matter what your doing unless your moving slowing aka couching or walking SUPER slow, just like how it used to be. It was a perfect system I feel. I really don’t like this whole “you don’t show up on radar if clambering” and things like this, It’s ridiculous! Same with the size of it. They only made it smaller to make Spartan Charge and Sprint visible. Now a person can say that these are more examples of why Sprint and Spartan Abilities affect gameplay and shouldn’t be in the game, but that’s a other discussion. My take is, if 343I wanted these thing visible in there game, then why even have the radar at all? I have no problems with radar, just to make that clear. 343I seem to have no problem in changing things that people don’t want changed, but seems to realize (even if it takes them a while lol) that most of these changes are bad and people don’t like them. I really wish we could try radar at 20mm or even the old 25mm and see how it plays.

Personally, I don’t want someone showing up on radar say for example in red if sprinting, green if Spartan Charging, Yellow if walking, Orange if Ground Pounding and so on. I REALLY hope this is NOT what they mean when they said:

> Specifically, these updated options would give more depth to the radar, allow players to manipulate it in different ways, and give players the ability to determine which Spartan abilities / actions appear on radar

I think that would make radar even more confusing. Like I said before, why not just let us try a 20mm and then the original 25mm size radar and see how it plays. Whatever 343I do I look forward to trying it out.

Lol believe it or not I’ve spent like 90-95% of my time in ranked arena. I only recently started to enjoy warzone more. Warzone assault has definitely become one of the playlists I enjoy more.

Since you’re an assault guy too, feel free to send me a message sometime if you want to play sometime. I’m typically on with a couple company members but there’s usually room for more :).

Seems like it’s for E-sports (team arena), so I don’t understand some of your excitement. I didn’t see any mention to the base game, only for their competitive scene, which I don’t mind as I’m a supporter of scrapping the radar or making it less useful in competitive play. If they mentioned anything about changing radar for the base game then correct me, but I don’t think I saw any radar mention other than to its pro crowd.
