They're just going out and saying it now, Infinite, and Halo as a whole is no longer being made for Halo fans

That was the general trend of the 2010s in general. Once 2011 rolled around, movies and videogames started distancing themselves from the core audience since new executives took hold of franchises and didn’t have any respect for the story or universe they were given control over… or the publishing directors meddled in development and ruined things.

  • Halo 4 and Halo 5 Guardians
  • Star Wars Episode VII and onward
  • Dead Space 3
  • Mass Effect Andromeda
  • D.M.C.
  • Ghostbusters 2016
  • Call of Duty Advanced Warfare, Infinite Warfare, and Black-Ops 3

That is just to name a few off the top of my head where the developers and producers/directors decided to take a great franchise and then ruin it with their own ideas that clashed greatly with the established ideas and norms that already guaranteed sales.

EA meddled with Mass Effect Andromeda and Dead Space 3’s development to such a degree that the studios were shut down with the failure of those titles (EA’s normal repertoire in regards to why they burn down so many companies. RIP Westwood Studios and Pandemic)

The others wanted to throw in their own philosophical or gameplay ideas without respecting the fact that they will not fit in with the narrative or established gameplay rules that the series had thus far.

Halo players wanted Halo, but 343 decided that Halo 4 shouldn’t look or sound like Halo. Instead they sounded and looked like they were supposed to be a separate Intellectual Property. And when it came to gameplay, it was either generic shooter combat in the campaign or in the case of the multiplayer it was low-gravity Call of Duty thanks to loadouts with perks.

Halo 5 decided to listen to the fanbase only half-way. They made the multiplayer return with balanced starts, but insisted on adding in mobility shooter aspects. The soundtrack had some music that sounded like it belonged in Halo on occasion, but the campaign story content was horribly disrespectful to the idea of gaming narratives as a whole. And they doubled down when it came to the terrible art style changes.

It is unknown who started the Trend of the 2010s where studios decided to make terrible business decisions.

“We have a respected product and quality. So we decided to allow -X- be the new Franchise Director… um… uh… yes we do notice that -X- is pouring napalm all over the franchise that makes us literal billions annually… uh… no we are not going to do anything about it because… well it OBVIOUSLY is a form of art expression ! YES ! And furthermore… um… -X- that is my house you are starting to pour napalm onto… -X-… -X-!!!”

I would argue that we need WAY more animated shorts of the short stories, like what Halo Legends did or what those animated comics were where we got some stories of Halo Evolutions.

  • The Mona Lisa
  • Headhunters
  • The Return
  • Midnight Aboard The Heart Of Midlothian

In fact, it would be great to get an animated series wherein we get the novels turned into quality 3D animations for the more action set-pieces and then 2D animations for the more lax setpieces (similar to what Halo Headhunters did)

Halo hasn’t been made for Halo fans since 343 took over the franchise. That’s just the unfortunate truth.

Yeah, but seeing them be so open about it like in this interview sucks even more.

I fear between stuff like this, the weird mismatch of classic Halo design and poorly thoughtout MtX/grind, and the amount of employees they currently are trying to hire on, means they’re leaning towards making something more generic.

343 are the most maidenless of developers

In regards to the show supposedly the producers are quoted as saying they “did not play the source material” and “wanted to focus on the universe and characters” kinda hard to make anything in line with the source material when the people who make the show don’t even understand the Halo universe. Maybe some people like the show. To each their own. I haven’t watched. I personally just don’t care if a show or movie doesn’t conform with an established canon. Having a human antagonist in the Covenant just doesn’t make any sense in context to Halo’s story at all. The first 3 games are about the genocide of the human race. If the Covenant in the show apparently accepts human members then what is its motivations for even fighting humanity? I just doesn’t think the show can make any sense

There is only one thing I like about the show.

The fact that the props department made some pretty swanky armor and that if 343 is smart enough to actually let us dress up in Master Chief’s armor this time around in Halo Infinite; the show provided a few more cosmetics for us to see available on the Mark VI Gen-3 Armor Core.

Yea I didn’t get the best look but from the trailer the armour looked pretty decent and the props seemed good quality. But I think I’ll just watch a summary of the show when it’s done rather than watch the actual thing

I used FromSoftware as an example, because they are fast in patching their game unlike 343I.

Resident Evil 6, you forget Resident Evil 6, and whil I personally enjoyed that game (played it recently) the worst part about it was the Chris Campaign, which was majorly CoD-esque, around that time a lot of companies were chasing the CoD trend.

Oh. I haven’t played any of the Souls games.

So going off your title, Halo is dead :+1:

It died in 2012 when 343 made a videogame and slapped the title of Halo 4 on it, even though it wasn’t a Halo game.

Sure, they’re outright admitting it now, but this has been their mindset since 4 started development. Making a good Halo is not the main objective. Selling out for as wide an audience as possible is. This is how franchises die. Perhaps not physically, but definitely spiritually.

In their pursuit of reaching this “broader audience” they’ll lose their core audience and have nothing to show for it.

The irony is that Halo already had one of the top grossing incomes and player populations on the market and stayed on the top three of the Xbox 360 with Halo 3 until Reach came out.

What does that mean? How is it changing to the “left”?

In fact, its combat effect is also very rubbish.
The crappy Spartan holster action, the AK where the rebels don’t shell casings, and the inferior shield special effects , The funniest thing is the site-level steel pipe assassination of the elite and rebels, with Gatlin unharmed to the enemy, and 117 picked up the same weapon to kill the enemy .
To be honest, I can’t find any bright spots in this show, not even CW’s hero films are rigorous and interesting .
Poor casting, funny battles and makeup, and the direction of the plot used in American TV dramas .
Now it’s the hottest show on the list, but the rating is the lowest, which is not unreasonable .
As is the case with the game, I don’t know where their high budget went .

This is actually easy to understand.
The employees of fs are very young and have high morale when their wages are very low .
The news said that their salary in Japan is the bottom of the game industry, not even much higher than the convenience store staff, many employees are coming for Miyazaki Yinggao’s reputation .
Voluntary overtime is also a common occurrence .
On the contrary, the situation of 343i is the opposite. Most of them are old employees in the bungie, and they are also veterans in xbox or elites in the industry who dig corners at high prices. Their shelves and treatment are much larger than fs, and there are even rumors of infighting. And their works can make money no matter how bad they are, which many companies can’t do .

Not really, around the time of Halo 5, only a handful of important people at i343 came from Bungie, maybe some “lower ranked” ones on the “floor” came from Bungie but given how companies and PR work, had there been more I’m sure i343 gladly would’ve boasted that.
Additionally, last year we got stories of how i343 handled employment. It was contract workers who worked for a period of time and then didn’t get a renewed contract. Essentially, a contract worker would join, take some time to learn the engine, figure out what their predecessor had been doing, and so forth, get to work on it, and be replaced by someone who had to do the same thing.

Contract outsourcing is now very common in large companies, and basically only responsible for low-level work, such as QA.
Like ea, 343 outsourced a lot of art and cg. In fact, I am very satisfied with the role of contract workers. The gun model cg you saw is actually not bad .
However, the development direction of the game, and the development content, but also the rumors of whether to change the engine and compete for resource infighting in the aura are not determined by the contract workers,It’s just another 343 excuse .
There is no disrespect, but I basically do not regard the contractor as a member of 343. This society is basically the same kind of cognition. In terms of contract workers, this is a social problem, not a 343 problem. Large companies can squeeze contract workers at low cost. Outsourcing workers, the treatment of core employees is not even good enough to eat together. This is a long-standing problem. There is nothing we can do .
