I was playing with my friend, and when I asked him, he said he would’ve never gotten back into Halo if he hadn’t played Halo 5: Guardians.
Halo 5 is doing one thing right: It’s reaching a larger audience. Because it’s getting better.

SMH, player population is something different than broader audience lol.
All my friends who played Halo since day one, including me, have not bothered to buy Halo 5: Guardians. There js one guy I know who bought it just to get the statues that come with the limited edition and because it was on sale. Oh and guess what, all of them played CoD before and are still doing so today. The only thing what kept them away from CoD was Halo. But since Halo 5 is a mutation of Crysis, Titanfall and CoD they’re not interested anymore. You know what the beauty was of Halo? CoD players still bought the game and played it once in a while. Oh and they absolutely loved Firefight.
Really I think Halo’s losing more people than gaining them.

That’s the matchmaking mechanism. If the party is mostly the same, it will remain the same at all times. You’d have to restart the playlist…

Considering that the biggest complaint against Halo 5 is the lack of social features and it’s over reliance on competitive features means that the game is limited on the types of audiences it can attract, which would directly affect the population. how about we go through and list the types of audiences Halo 5 caters to?
Campaigners? yes (So did every Halo)
Co-opers? yes (so did every Halo)
Forgers? (So did every Halo since 3)
MP? Yes (So did every Halo)
Ranked Playlists? yes (So did Halo 2 and 3)
Youtubers and Machinima makers? yes (RvB started with CE and 3’s theatre was made with these in mind)
BTBers?, yes, kinda. (it has nothing but forge maps and only a handful of them. Where as all other Halos had this with dev made maps)
LANers? nope.
Split Screener’s? nope
‘Noobies’ and low level players? nope
Old school fans? not really
Objective fans? (Flag, strongholds, and now assault) and no playlist for them, so nope
Infection players? nope
PvE players? not yet and who knows if they’ll come back to the game 6 (or is it actually 8?) months after it launched.
OP told a story about 1 player Halo 5 earned. and claimed it as proof of a broader audience. I can tell you dozens of stories of Halo 5 losing others. So how exactly are we measuring Halo 5’s appeal to broader audiences?
