I know it may sound a little radical and may ruffle the feathers of those who paid for DLC but hey it might actually bring a few players back to the game.
There is far too much money to be had from Microsofts point of you for that to ever happen. Folks need to give up the notion of free DLC coming from Halo. Perhaps the occasional forge map but you’re never going to see global free DLC.
I don’t know about all of them, but they should make at least Majestic free.

At the very least, a half-off sale would be nice for the birthday week.
I don’t think Microsoft policy allows that. Something to do with achievements. Sales would be stellar though.
As someone who has purchased all of the DLC (minus one that was given to me, thank you) I would be fine with it being given away. However I seriously doubt Microsoft will be cool with that.
The only DLC I own is the stuff that came with the nice shiny Halo 4 Console.
Now here’s the thing I knew DLC maps would not come up much with not everybody owning them and if they did come up I imagine I would be getting even more lag.
Now since They are giving away free games on Gold I think giving away free DLC would not be all that different.
And the sad fact is H4 is currently on life support so an injection of free DLC may just help.
I know its most likely not going to happen since they are releasing the game of the year edition but I think it would help.
I’d LOVE to see a 50% off sale on DLC. I already have them all, but I KNOW it would bring friends of mine back to Halo.
I think we all can generally agree that the Halo franchise needs all the help it can get right now with population.

Pretty sure games aren’t allowed to give out free DLC if there are achievements tied to them.
So long as there are achievements associated with DLC, it will never be made free. Discounted maybe, but never free.
Rather than, or in addition to, the 20% off sale they ran yesterday at the Waypoint store, I would have offered DLC at 1/2 price.
It was refreshing to play the new maps yesterday - lots of DLC owners in the Birthday Fiesta playlist.
No companies expend manpower and resources to make DLC so it is fair that we compensate them for their work - if they don’t get paid I don’t think they’ll continue to make DLC. Do I like free stuff? Heck yes but studios who don’t get paid lose talent and eventually close shop, and I would rather have more game studios making more content.
