They should give this game away for free

with the games with gold program.

It will help the population tremendously and lets be honest here, Halo 4 doesn’t sell much anymore

thoughts?

Making Halo 4 free with games with gold is a great idea. The games been out plenty of time to sell.

Maybe at E3 during or after the Halo presentation they could make it free.

Correct me if I’m wrong… but I don’t think Halo Reach has even been offered as a free game yet. And plus, it’s only been two years. Yes, I said ‘only’. It’s too early for this, IMO. :\

I don’t think giving the game away for free will do anything (seriously, I found a used copy at my local used game store for $4.99). If people want this game they probably already either have it or realllly do not want to play it.

On that note, I do think that they should start giving out maps for free. Maybe not even the whole map packs, but 1 map from each (I’ve bought everything except the champions bundle and would actually like to play on some of them  every once in a while).

Sleeping Dogs & Hitman Absolution are from the same year as Halo 4 and they were both free, so I wouldn’t say it’s too new.

The weird thing is, I was at Half Priced Books the other day and they had a copy of Halo Reach for $24.99 and a copy of Halo 4 for $14.99 … why?

> Sleeping Dogs & Hitman Absolution are from the same year as Halo 4 and they were both free, so I wouldn’t say it’s too new.

Yeah, but Halo is an award-winning flagship franchise with a massive fanbase. The others… they may be fun, but they just ain’t the same.

Because they too know which Halo game is the best. Though 4 is pretty close, IMO…

Good point on the first part, but don’t you think it’d be a pretty crappy business model to price things based on personal preference rather than what it’s actually worth? They research the prices, so if Reach is actually selling for $10 more than Halo 4, there’s got to be a better reason than “Halo 4 wasn’t as good” … or is that a perfectly good reason? Maybe it is, I don’t know.

Of course Amazon has both Halo 4 and Halo Reach for around $10 new, so I’m guessing that particular store had a disgruntled halo fan.

Haha lets do some basic economics right now.

First things first, supply and demand.
Supply being how many games there are, demand being how much the game is wanted.

With halo 4 being so bad, the supply is both up and the demand is also down, from people taking back their games and nobody wanting to buy it.

With Reach being better, there was less people who took back their games and more people that wanted to buy it. Lower supply, higher demand.

It is even the same with Halo 3, where you can find a used copy for $15 as well. Just proving that, to the mass consumer, Halo 3 > Reach > Halo 4 and I would say the majority of halo fans (not people on here, stares at h4 fanboys) would agree with.

So yes, “Halo 4 wasn’t as good” … is a perfectly good reason.

The same could have been said about H3 but it did give the game a huge population boost even tough everyone has that game

I agree. It might initially give a population boost, but nothing to add real significance to. I think the absolute better way to go is to offer all the map packs for free. The population that is still playing now would benefit. On the one hand it would be a kind of thank you to all those who have already supported and purchased the DLC, and on the other help keep the other players interested with the variety of maps at their disposal.

I am actually surprised how many obvious new players are still buying the game and playing. I think it is a good sign that people are still interested in Halo no matter what we rant on about here.

Ehh… Sadly great things are often not free in this world.

Halo 3 was free

You sir, get a thank for making my day.

This 100%. Games with Gold is a way they CAN make all map packs free. It would make ALL current players happy while likely increasing Halo 4 sales.

Make DLC required on all major playlists. This way people know to ‘buy’ (aka download for free) DLC (:

Make the note on Halo 4 obvious, DLC required, get it all for FREE now!

Sorry to be the downer but what about people with the Xbox slim? I think they would not like having the DLC needed on their favorite playlist. Second, isn’t that what Bungie did for Halo 3 but, left all the major playlists for anyone to play?(team slayer, social slayer, lone wolves, ect.)

Now making the game free is in no interest for MS because the best(imo) halo has already been released with free games with gold. I also imagine some people complaining “A halo game was already given away, what the BLAM”. Nether of these options makes money and in no way interest a company trying to make money. If ms over at the market place department lowered the dlc prices or made a bundle for it then that might be a good idea.

Personally I think 343 should concentrate on their next game. Their communication skills have been a little off within the work place and i would like to see a game developed by them that would flow nicely together. eg. having a gui that could make up it’s mind between windows 8 and halo reach.

> Ehh… Sadly great things are often not free in this world.

So… Why isn’t Halo 4 free then?

Nice posts here but I think you forgot a little detail.

Halo 4 is not made by Bungie anymore - 343 Industries is on it now and even if there are people from Bungie in it - You should act like Halo 4 is a NEW Halo game and shouldn’t be compared to the games from Bungie. When I compare Reach to 4 I find some things better in Reach and other things better in 4. Lots of those things would be just amazing if they were put together in another Halo game. (For example the Forge World at Reach, which has been a nice, playable map even if unedited and the option to use magnets while building maps, so you don’t have to use the coordinates all the time on 4) But comparing 4 with Reach or any other Halo made by Bungie just ain’t fair. In general, Halo 4 is an awesome game, yet there are things I dislike too, but every game has their own pros and cons. Even if they totally screwed up the SWAT gametypes, I don’t think I’ll quit Halo 4 because of it. If more people vote for a King of the hill match on SWAT (which is not making any sense at all) I’m just gonna leave and look for another game. It’s just like that. Reach was pretty awesome too but I would never say it was better than 4. Also I would never say anything like that about 4. If I compared Reach with 4 another time I#d say BTB on reach just sucks for me and BTB on 4 is another main way for me to rank up. They just started again so don’t be mean! If you think you can do better than just do it instead of complain about the game even if you like to play it! And yes, there HAVE been many senseless moves from 343i like removing Ricochet and other gamelists, but I’m sure when they hear about the players demands they will do better even if it could take a while.

> Halo 3 was free

EXACTLY HIS POINT. >:O
