They should dumb down the legendary A.I

> This is the DUMBEST thing I’ve ever heard. I reckon 343i should make the AI with less health and make them smarter.

I got a deep hatred towards brutes due to Halo 2 on Legendary =/.

Finally, some posts with sense!

> Honestly, I would like to see Halo CE style Legendary come back. That game didn’t make the Legendary harder by making the enemies tougher, but by throwing more enemies on the player’s path. Your shielding also wasn’t as weak as it was in later games so you weren’t required to hide every other second.
>
> Both decisions allowed the gameplay to be fast and engaging. I would like to see that kind of difficulty back. And the last thing I would want from Halo 4 Legendary, the sniper rifle should be able to kill a shielded enemy in one headshot. It should be a weapon you happy to see on Legendary.

It made megabattles so damn fun.

Agreed. I mean this popshot noob combo is entertaining to me but it’s slow. And to do rushes in the hangar room (a la noob combo + grenades, melee fest) is something deity level people like Cody Miller and MisterMonopoli can do but way too dangerous for insignificant trainees like me. If I did anything else, my shields would be instantly down and I would have to take cover.

> I’ve played 3 Halo games: Halo Reach, Halo 3, and Halo CEA. (Wars doesn’t count here.) Out of those, by far the most difficult AND fun was CEA. Reach was difficult, sure, but it also wasn’t very fun. Meatshields just suck out all the enjoyment. Halo 3 was the easiest in my opinion (not counting Cortana Ughghghghgh).
>
> I think CEA’s legendary philosophy (smarter enemies and loads of them) makes for the best gameplay. It’s still very challenging, but you’re not just pinging away at enemies with a DMR forever.

Agreed. CE is easy to underestimate because it’s an old game with simple AI but it’s not easy as it looks. You have to do multiple playthroughs to be able to call it easy. In H2, you just have to get to know the map and use aggression wisely. In H3, you just to take your time. In ODST, you can just breeze past everything.

Imo the megabattles are the best part about CE. In the newer Halos, there are hardly any megabattles. The only one in H2 that I know of is on The Arbiter but:

-the enemy numbers aren’t very impressive
-there’s hardly any cover unless you hide out in the opposite room
-most weapons are insufficient, other than dual wielding needlers and grenade sticks
-it’s a pain in the -Yoink- to collect the AI, even more to bring friendly AI

So it’s very inconvenient (likewise, in H3). If enemy numbers formula returns, then AI gathering points should also return. Imagine a Precursor AI collection. Yum!!

They should be smarter but not have so much health and NOT no your position 24/7 AND FOR THE LOVE OF GOD SCRAP THE BOTTOMLESS CLIPS!

> > Are you kidding me? You obviously haven’t played Combat Evolved on Legendary. I’ve noticed that the Legendary difficulty has been easier with each game!

> I have to wonder, when what the last time you played one or two? I mean, there are dozens of easy ways to get through CE, and Halo 2 had dozens of glitches to make the game a cake-walk. Halo Reach lacked a lot of these.

Agreed. The first Legendary Halo Campaign I ever played was Reach’s. After I beat that I played Halo 3’s campaign on legendary and it was a breeze for me

No. The AI actually needs improved if you ask me. Not so much stronger, but smarter.

Oh no, it’s too hard! What ever shall you do?!

…Have you tried Mythic?

A.I. were not hard I have done the LASO challenges a few times it isn’t that bad. If anything get harder, but I do feel like Halo 4 legendary enemies where alot harder than reaches.

They need to make it more difficult.

Once you pop an elites shield, it shouldn’t just stand there throwing a temper tantrum. It should run to cover immediately like they did in previous games. That really killed the legendary run for me.

I don’t think they should move when you target over them (and they don’t know you’re there) or that they know you’re there when they haven’t even seen you, but I do think they should be much tougher than Reach’s. The only thing I disliked about Reach’s Legendary was the amount of heavy weapons were used against you.

legendary should be a nut buster not a walk in the park.

I’m starting to believe these are exaggerations… to support making them tougher.

From my experience, Reach Elites always went to cover, only berserking if I got close.

And I had my crosshair on Reach Elites from up close and long range and they never noticed me.

Point is, NO, not tougher. Smarter.

If I see another damage sponge, I’ll just have to stick with Heroic and lower…

> legendary should be a nut buster not a walk in the park.

Transition from Heroic to Legendary is a huge leap yes, but it shouldn’t be Mythic level. That’s what skulls are for.

It should be a lot harder. Legendary Reach was easy compared to Halo 2.

And people wonder why Bnet thinks this place is a cesspool.

My thoughts exactly

I like it harder! It makes it worth playing for. I played Halo 3 and breezed it compared to Halo 2 and Reach.

No, legendary should be harder.

I actually find it funny when I come here out of frustration and anger at how hard the halo reach campaign is on normal mode and people are saying legendary is easy mode.

I prefer a game that lets me be the berserker player that I am, not one that basically calls itself an First Person Shooter but really you’re more of a First Person Sneaker.

I mean I prefer to run in, shoot everything and using up my armor almost till death but survive, re-up the health/armor and then forge into the next area and constantly advancing the story. Not staying back, killing two or three and waiting only to become a rocket or nade sponge and make the story take a backseat for 30 minutes while I try to figure out how to get past this one overly challenging area… only to die 50 times and randomly find my way through it somehow automatically.

That’s why I do so love games like Call of Duty: Modern Warfare (campaign, not multiplayer I HATE the multiplayer). But at least the game keeps you engaged with the story mostly, and the few times it does disengage with the story it’s only for a moment. Here it seems like you’re just going battle to battle and every once in a while you get a snippet of story.

Why play the game then you ask? Well, honestly I want to get the story from having played through it. But I have the feeling I’m going to have to watch a youtube clip to get the story anyways with how far apart each story segment is with how long someone like myself spends playing each firefight. I dunno, I’d love a dumbed down AI that allowed me to just spray away without any tactics and just rid the area of the enemy and move the story forward.

And yet there are people on this board that think that this game needs to be harder? LMAO WOOOOW… You guys are gaming gods I guess when it comes to these games. I’d actually hate to have been you sitting there and studying a game enemy to get better at the game in all honesty. All that time you guys put into figuring things out on a chess strategy level. And yet I also envy your ability to do so. I just don’t have the attention span to go that deep into any game that deeply.

This is Halo 2 on Legendary in a nutshell… always worth it though!

That’s my thing though, why so hard on normal? I get making it harder for the more challenging modes, but normal should provide a small amount of challenge and just be story focused. Challenge modes like Legendary and Mythic should be where the huge amounts of bullet sponge mobs come in. That I could see definitely, not normal campaign mode.

I mean It’s a struggle to keep my anger down and just try to get through it, and that to me is a sign of a game’s developers not having a clue about the average player and just wanting to cater to the hardcore players who do nothing but play halo all day every day. I’m average at best. I should not have to “GET GOOD” just to play a game I paid x amount of money for! I should be able to sit back, relax a bit and have fun. Instead I find myself rage quitting after two or three corners every time with this game. Every now and then I get a whole section done, but it’s rare. Halo CE was no where near this bad and was actually quite fun. I think they screwed up in how hard they catered this game for the hardcore gamers…
