If they show master chief’s face, I think they should make him look like Steve Downes(Master Chief’s voice actor), but with brown hair (because the books said he had brown hair). Master Chief is in his 40ies so he should look middle aged to emphasize how experienced he is.

I always pictured John’s face to be more beaten and scarred, more worn for the lack of a better word.
Why should it be necessary to base a character’s appearance on their voice actor. Most games and animation don’t, and it’s just fine. i’d say pull inspiration from his description in the books and age him up from there.
No offense to Steve, but his face isn’t exactly what I picture when I think of Chief. Honestly, his motion capture actor in Halo 4, Bruce Thomas, is closer to how I would picture Chief.

I never want to see his face. If they were going to do it, they should have done it a long time ago. But they haven’t, which means all this build up will just fall short of all expectations. Unless they throw in some kind of whammy (like omgz Chief looks exactly like an already familiar character!) then it will only be a let down.
It’s bad enough they revealed his name (John, yawn) and now we’re going to break down what was the quintessential heroic Everyman into a race, color, creed, and lord knows what else that shouldn’t really matter.
This is probably close to my favorite depiction of chief. It’s based around the clip of his eyes at the end of H4.

Personally I don’t want them to show him as he’ll end up looking like another generic character. I feel that not knowing his face is what leaves a sense of mystery. I like how they’re exploring his character but I don’t think it’s necessary to show his face.
Having said that, if they did show his full face I agree he should look just like Steve Downs. I think Steve’s face well… just suits the voice, which makes sense.
I always imagined him to look like Steve, he’s also the right age for John’s character so it makes perfect sense.
I remember that fan-made image HaloFollower showed on one of his videos a while ago, and whoever that face was… it really did not look like Chief, or at least what I wanted chief to look like. He looked Russian!
Have you ever heard a voice like a YouTuber though, and have your own image of what they may look like in your head; then when they finally reveal themselves people are sort of disappointed. Not that they are ugly or anything lol, just that they don’t look how you imagined.
It’s always a disappointment.
