They Say They Fixed JIP, But They Didn't

Just joined a game, blue team - 710, red 640

This is BS

I despise JIP. I really, really do.

I played a game of infinity slayer a while ago where I was in a full party and the other team all quit
The game started and as the game proceeded to give us the default victory 4 players JIPed into a defeat screen

I felt bad for them because the way CSR is programmed they would have gone down a few ranks since CSR would have acted like they were there for the “whole” game an gained no points but hey CSR works exactly how it should
/sarcasm

Has anyone been experiencing long join times? Like the game seems to freeze in joining, taking quite a long time to transfer from the screen where all of the spartan cards are shown to the result screen before going into actual game play. I have had to use the “get out of JIP card” (going to network and changing it to “my xbox 360”) to get out of this JIP limbo.

And the odd thing is that it happens when I am already in a group of quite a few players from the previous game.

All of this seems to have started when the new JIP fixes went live (or at the very least this is my first time experiencing it firsthand if this has been happening before the JIP update).

I was in a lagtacular game on Settler yesterday, and could’ve sworn I’ve seen more than 20 people JiP and then leave.

Had a Dominion game today. The score when I JIP’d in was 330-150. Managed to grab a second base and make the score slightly more respectable 420-300 but the game only lasted two more minutes after I got in. Absolutely terrible.

Last night, someone told me that you are still put into long-running games if you have mastered the Boltshot commendation. I didn’t believe them, of course, but now I’m having second thoughts.

That’s probably true. I haven’t finished it, and no problems with JIP here…

JiP should be the first two minutes of the match or not in the game at all

I still say JIP can be great in Halo. First, never start a game with uneven teams. With power weapon spawns on maps, this is kind of a big deal. Second, give players who drop into games a reason to stay in games. For example, for any player who joins a game in progress who then helps his team actually win that game, you get a shiny “Hero” medal and substantial credit bonus. Good job, sport!

As it is, though, JIP is a huge bummer in this game. I wish I knew the percentage of games that end with one team actually having the right amount of players on it and the other team having two or three times that on the scoreboard. Moreover, it’s apparent that matchmaking drops higher-skilled players into lower-skilled games in an attempt to right the balance, which gives games a really weird “Hey, we were destroying these guys two minutes ago, but now they’re team-shooting me to pieces” experience, which occurs very regularly.

There’s a lot of problems with it, not limited to when people are dropping in, but I’m convinced it can work exceedingly well to solve a problem that’s plagued Halo matchmaking for years.

i wouldnt mind it at all if it didn’t screw me EVERY game it put me into.

I’m all for JIP but it needs refinement. FWIW I had a couple of JIPs yesterday and they got me in at 0-0 and maybe 40-60, so no issues yet on my end…

I jumped in to a multi-team game down 300 points… right after i jumped into a big team game down 400. Real fun.

Listen carefully 343. Join in progress needs to be optional if not non existent, take your pick.

If you are sick and tired of JIP games I recommend using Amplified’s method. If you get into a half-finished game, quickly press Start, go down where it says Network Settings and change it to My Xbox 360. You will return to the lobby. Switch it back to Xbox Live and re-search.

Hopefully this helps if you get a lot of JIP games.

Exactly what I do if I see JIP is trying to throw me into games on Settler/Complex.

I honestly can’t tell if this is sarcasm or not.

Do you expect JIP to only place you in exactly even games in progress? Or games in progress where you join the winning team?

You’re down by 50 points. That is hardly a fate sealed game.

JIP has to be there since people quit too much. They just need to fix it…which they are doing a terrible job at.

100% agree. It’s not fixed. I’m trying to get my 50 in Rumble Pit and joining games where the leader has a 10 point lead over me is not helping. JIP should have a 30 second window or not exist at all.

710-640 = 70. It was 70 points.

First of all I don’t want to be thrown into a warzone and not only have to acclimate to getting bulldozed and sniped by the other team that’s had at least 3/4 of a game to get plenty of ordinance but my team and I have to make up over 7 kills in half a minute.

Secondly I actually want to VOTE for my maps and not get thrown into a half or worse finished match that is half a minute away from defeat or is a lag-ridden teleportation fest.

Thirdly 99% of the time JIP doesn’t put people into games where things are going smoothly for the team you join. No, you get put on the team that is getting stomped on or a game that is laggy.

In very nearly every JIP game I’ve been put into the match is utter chaos and short of me pulling magic out of my -Yoink- defeat is inevitable. There was ONE time in recent memory that I actually SAVED my team that was getting destroyed and won by 1 kill. Yes, at the end it was actually 490-500. And I had 22 kills or so in that game.

And lastly people don’t EVER assume I (or anyone else) am being sarcastic unless I actually say so. I hate it when people do that. It is so lame and completely disrespectful. I have taken the time to voice my opinion and state what I strongly feel is hurting my experience and you come along and assume I’m being sarcastic. Very sad.

BTIS and Infinity Slayer, for example, were not play lists where JIP was fixed (343i never said JIP was being changed for thsoe) as they see those less competitive and more akin to Social CSR play lists…less important.
