Im all for how it is already because I actually enjoy using it personally. My only problem is looking at every game and every player passes up the Commando if it isn’t the BR. I see more players grabbing the Pulse rifle before that weapon these days. It makes the match one less weapon advantage on the map.
Unless they can make the Commando appeal to the casual players, this weapon remains a situational second pick when the fight for the BR is over.

Since they toned down the crazy recoil on it, iv’e been using it more, also seen more players using it as well since it got changed
The only time I use the commando is in SWAT and in fiesta (until I find any other weapon).
I want to like it and use it but I don’t.

It’s a good gun in BTB if there’s no BR Available, I don’t like how quick it is for it to run out of Ammo

I just don’t like it. I’ve tried it and even played some fun matches in Tactical Slayer with it, but it just feels off. I’d rather take a pulse carbine.
It’s a tricky weapon to make fit in the sandbox. While it’s rather hard to control it it’s also very powerful when you do. And if it becomes easier to use, what’s to make up for the long range and high damage?
Maybe someone else has more ideas about that than me.
I just don’t know how I feel about long ranged auto weapons in Halo in general.

Maybe. I wouldn’t be mad.
I’m garbage with it. I pretty much only use it with the PP, and even then I’ll swap it for a BR at the first opportunity.
But I just assume it’s me, not the weapon.

Here’s the real question. Why doesn’t the commando have a commando coating?
Do you mean like have a range of skin tones we can choose to colour it?
It’d make an excellent starter weapon on BTB maps. Solid weapon till you get a Battle Rifle.
Better then Pistol and Assault Rifle for range too.

projectile bullets would stop it being op long range
Buff the AR to be a close to mid range shredder and then swap the commando with the AR to be the starting weapon.
Just a thought.
I find the Commando to be effective in absence of a BR or Stalker, but will always choose to upgrade asap.
In BR starts it’s hard to justify picking it up, which is probably where most players report seeing more Pulse Carbines than it. It’s only utility in Ranked is for when you’re mag runs out and don’t have time to reload during extended teamfights, or against overshields. But it’s always better to run with a complimentary weapon than a backup so most players won’t even bother picking it up.
In AR starts it is far more useful, especially since some sides don’t even get a BR, or BRs are completely absent during certain weapon rack rotations.
I would LOVE to see Commandos become the BTB default starting weapon. They aren’t as dominating over the map as BRs are, but provide the ability to engage at longer ranges off spawn, just without maximum efficiency. That’s perfect for BTB, which always played better with Halo 2 and 3’s less range-efficient BR than it would with Infinite’s which is practically a DMR.

Personal opinion, give it the axe. Take the bloomy, bullet hose-ish style “precision” rifle and toss it in the bin. Replace it with another, more better precision rifle.

It just doesnt feel like it belongs in Halo
Im not sure what its role is.
-
On a scale of close to far range: Magnum BR, Stalker Rifle, Sniper all fill ranged roles
-
AR fills the automatic role
Commando is like a hybrid of both roles but doesnt know what it is. I wish the SAW were in its place and there was a better automatic weapon than the default AR
My ideas for adjusting the Commando.
Get rid of the recoil (or at least decrease it by 50-75%).
Increase the damage and make it take one less shot to kill (two might seem excessive).
Lower the firerate to balance increased damage by around 5-10% (to not make it fire too slowly).
Increase round capacity from 20 rounds to 25 rounds. Increase overall ammunition accordingly.
Imagine an automatic DMR with maybe 75% of the damage? I’m not sure how exactly this might play out in real time gameplay. But I feel like the idea should be that the Commando should be more able to stand out in the middle. Less automatic firerate but more damage than the AR. More firerate but less damage than the BR.
In hindsight, I get that this is where the Commando is supposed to be. But it suffers from a similar problem that the Revenant from Halo Reach. Having the weaknesses of both the ghost and the wraith, with that being less agility and less defense respectively, while not really having the strength of both.
To me, the commando should be able to almost match both the AR and the BR in their respective strong suits, while not being a complete substitute.

I feel like it needs a tiny damage buff, even in campaign it just doesn’t feel that useful. Sad that we lost the DMR for this thing…
IMO the commando is just too random. It’s got recoil and bloom working against you in tandem. If the gun just had strong recoil it’d retain it’s character and be a little more viable.
inb4 PaCE YOuR SHoTS. Randomness is still random. I’d like the gun to either hit, or miss, not have a chance of doing either. commando swat is damn near a coin toss at times

Why doesn’t it have some sort of camo coating that can be found in campaign is what I mean
Maybe they’re waiting to release them in a future DLC. Seems odd to have Spartan camo without matching weapons.
