They need to get rid of weeklies and turn it into a weekly login reward

Just don’t do the challenges then? Playing the game because you enjoy it is a valid option…
If you want the cosmetic that badly, well, go and earn it, don’t get me wrong, some of the challenges are a drag, but they’re no Achillies garbage.

Some challenges are awful, yes, and could use some re-working, but I wouldn’t go so far to say “remove challenges”… especially since by removing challenges, you’ve removed the only current progression system on the battle pass, and implementing another progression system without challenges is, well, kinda silly, because the challenges themselves aren’t the issue, it’s the requirement of some of them.

Pace yourself, only play the challenges for cosmetics you actually want or plan on using, and well, if you want more options, just ask 343 to add more content.

i really hate challenges in general for infinite, not earning xp based on match performance is already bad but making you have to complete challenges in order to level up is just a weird design and limiting you to only a few challenges is just awful. who who thought this was a good idea?!!

i swear the biggest idea for weekly rewards was “if you don’t wanna waste money on our stupid shop then have fun grinding for a single keychain every week.”

ive legit gave a list of varying kinds of people who it matters to cosmetics matter. Weeklies people also do because its FOMO and people like having a collection of things.

Fomo is probably the only reason this game is even remotely alive

Cosmetics matter to me as well, but you don’t need every single one, there were 3 weeks where the capstone was just the same sticker, do you think I grinded that out? The black visor and the chest dagger for Rakshasa among a few others are worth the grind, but the majority of capstones are “meh”.
And I sure as heck ain’t buying every item in the store.

As someone said above, these people would probably be labled as completionist… but I personally find it hard to feel bad for someone who’s grinding out a game they don’t want to play, for an emblem they’ll never use, just to say they have it. At that point you’ve willingly turned the game into a job at your own accord.

If the the FOMO was actually good, this might be considered a decent case, but between capstones, the yappening, and LSS, the only real FOMO worth anything are the Fracture cores and even those are hit or miss.

I’d reckon that people are getting on not because of “FOMO” but because with each event that drops, there’s finally a taste of new content and unlocks that aren’t tied to a paycheck. I doubt anyone is afraid of missing out on the Yappening, but it’s just SOMETHING new to play.

And out of all of these points, I still don’t think any of this is enough to warrant removing capstones or weekly challenges.

  1. People like challenges, people like accolades, people love to earn things and be rewarded. The issue here is what you are earning is not worth it, and some of the challenges are too… extreme, for lack of a better word. Just fix the challenge system. Don’t remove it.

  2. You’ll again, completely ruin the only progression system currently in place for the season passes… I guess you could just make it so that you earn substantially more XP per game, but even then, I know I’d be asking for weekly challenges to come back so I get the XP bonuses, and the challenge system in and of itself isn’t a bad thing, look at point 1.

  3. It sounds like the only people making the challenge system an unenjoyable experience for themselves, is the people forcing themselves to do it. Again, some challenges suck, but you don’t need to do every single one, every single week, for an item you’ll never use, quite frankly, if you’re a completionist, you’ve picked a bad game for it, again, back to point 1.

difficulty here is game mode based challenges that might not be achievable.

I would rather them throw challenges in the trash, and add all these items to a progression system, or have a weekly cumulative score challenge, no gimmicks, just XP earned by winning, getting kills, earning medals, and doing the objectives.

Convert challenge swaps into XP boosts, and just use those to skip through progression, like for people too busy with their jobs and family lives to actually grind the game. A lot of us OG Halo players are getting old, and don’t have time for all these awful challenges 343 comes up with. We do have time to play though, and earn XP the old fashioned way

I don’t find the challenges that bad to be honest.

It’s Wednesday night and I’m already on the Ultimate challenge. I used one swap because I didn’t feel like getting 10 shock rifle kills (I have 42 more). I had even finished four before they realized Land Grab was still available and had to reset the challenges.

Still - I’d much rather unlock things through progression/achievements. I have the skull kill effect on because at the time it was the only real way to show how far I’d made it in the battle pass (I should take it off).

If we end up getting real progression, they can just make the ultimate extra XP or some boosts.

I know people complain that you need to do challenges to gain XP, but as it stands it’s easy to finish the BPs. I’ve been done S2 for literal months. I used a boost every day for the first hour (you pretty much earn it back - and I still have 50 of them - all free) I got as many challenges done in that hour as I could, and then I got as many challenges as close to done as I could. The next day - pop a 2XP and finish those challenges.

I find the challenges to be obscene sometimes.

For example, I had a challenge to get 5 kills with the Sidekick.
No biggie.
200xp and a extra tier on my event battlepass progression.

BUT THEN
I got a challenge with the same name
ONLY NOW it was get 15 kills with the Sidekick for 250xp.
So you want me to do 3x the work for only 1/6th more experience points?
Add on top of that the fact that the challenge doesn’t get me anywhere in my event pass and I find it rather insulting.

All valid points.

One time during an event none of my active challenges were actualy for the event and all four of them were cumulative scores in different playlists. That’s a pain.

When I have challenges like the sidekick ones, I try to get them active at the same time. If I start out with some harder but obtainable challenge, I’ll let it stay active until I have nothing left - if I’ve made no progress, then I swap it.

It would be cool if this was like mcc’s quest system

I’ve come up with a better idea for the weeklies and the new repeatables. Sadly, the Winter Update doesn’t help loyal players get rewarded, but does give opportunities to new/returning players. But, I have an idea to connect the two. That kills the FOMO and parallels to Halo Infinite’s Battlepass mechanics and kinda gives a personal progression kinda thing.

So you can still choose to do the 343 selected weekly for that week. Or you can swap it out in a weekly reward collection menu that has all past rewards and have that as your final reward for that week. The catch is that you can’t do a weekly from the same season, this way it rewards players who have kept up. But, keeps the opportunity for people who want the reward after the season ends. No FOMO, but also no punishment to loyalty.

Sidenote: They should change the rarity on cosmetics to actually be percentage based on how many players have it. Kinda like rare Xbox achievements, except through the whole common; uncommon; rare; epic; legendary rarity tree. This way it incentivises people to get weekly rewards that people didn’t go for.

Does this sound good?
Sorry, I can’t make public posts, but really wanted to share this idea. Hope Infinite can reach a sweet-spot

I feel like thay need way more stuff to give out than just xp and skip and there not enough armor parts in this game to last vary long for something like that.

Damn, you did the math on all of those. NEEEEEEEEEEERD!

Nah, I’m just kiddin’. I appreciate someone who does their homework. Keep it real, king.

Here’s my take on this:

Do the weekly’s suck? Yes, especially since our reward is (usually) a coating I’ll never use. Do they suck less now that there’s match XP? HELL YES! 150 XP per match, plus extra if you did good in the match is a good enough thing for me. It also helps that they lessened the amount of challenges by half. Both of these have turned it into a better experience for me personally, especially since the challenges aren’t locked to game modes. It’s easier, more relaxing, and I don’t feel like I’m taking on a second job just to progress. I’m kicking back and having FUN without necessarily needing to finish a laundry list of things.

I have found that when playing I switch between Fiesta and SWAT (I refuse to call it Tactical Slayer), and it gets everything I need. For instance, today I needed to get 20 kills with UNSC weapons, get a kill with a Cindershot, and those are really the only two I felt could be done better in specific modes. Everything else was like, “Get a back smack”, “Win 3 games”, “I don’t care, just act like you’re playing for 3 games, quit bothering me kid”, and “Do a triple backflip and meow” (if you get this reference, you get a cookie, king). If I want the weekly, I’ll grind for it like I did last week for the blade on my chest. If I don’t, then I’ll just play and if I get a challenge done, woo hoo. But now I don’t feel like I need to spend the better part of my off-hours to get a weekly that I really want, and can spend more time playing Halo.

Agreed, I feel nothing when I play rounds of Infinite. Other free games don’t even have this issue, log in rewards at least let you feel less like you are “losing” time by not playing. Losing shop selection, losing weekly grind rewards, losing the whole damn game if it gets canned. None of those fears were in 1-5, except maybe Spartan Ops… I don’t want to invest time and effort in a game that tries to stress me into compliance.
