They don't "owe" us anything

Extra stuff can be purchased, but locking armor customizations behind the paywalls is too far. Halo can’t survive like that. Its too integral to the multiplayer. They can make money in other areas, but going as far to charge for spartan customization, the thing we all grind for that needs to be in-game unlockable for the game to be worth playing, NEEDS to be earnable, not bought. Its principals of basic economics. The players need incentive to play the game. When armor customization is taken out of that, you’re in trouble. Look at the history of Halo and tell me this is right the way they have it? Halo was so much more successful just because it was Good back then. If its good, then people will pay money. They won’t pay money if its manipulative and lacking.

They owe me this weeks special name plate and my damn money back. I can’t get this name plate because the challenges are too damn restrictive, even with multiple challenge swaps. This game is such a chore.

Pretty great since I don’t let petty things get to me.

How’s your life throwing tantrums?

Asking for something = a tantrum. Didn’t realize boots tasted that good

I very much hope you’re right.

I think Infinite will be about the custom game like CE was back in the day. I also think they’re doing it on purpose.

That’s a terrible approach to have. You have to appeal to players or they wont stay. Forget spending money on the BP, I don’t even want to play the game right now. Less people to play = slower matchmaking = less people unwilling to spend money.

MS funds and publishes the games, but its clear they don’t influence decisions. If that were the case the new Forza game would have a similar model…but it doesn’t. Studios are typically free to do their thing and this is clearly a 343 decision.

No Forza doesn’t but Gears 5 had similar issues with their shop system etc.

343 can tell MS that all they want but MS has final say and they bend over to the shareholders on how to make money.

Gotcha. I didn’t realize that.

You know what crazy too is that they still have the guts to charge $60 for the campaign alone. Like they could have just kept the multiplayer and campaign together for $60 like a normal release but now the idiots are out here like, “tHeY HAve tO mAke MOney$ sOmeHoW” No there was literally no reason to block up the fundamental customization to Halo like this, and there was no good reason to make multiplayer free to play if you’re going to still charge $60 because anyone who is buying the campaign is going to be playing multiplayer anyways and vise versa.

Same, more or less. Missed the LAN parties and my internet prevented me from playing Online until 2010, sadly.

Me too!

Now, see, this is a lot better phrased.

Fine, fair. I left after Spartan Ops finished, utterly enraged with where Halo was going, I hated it. I came back later, but… Fair. My apologies.

They charged $60 for a game.

This is commerce. If we give them money, they do owe us.

Six years, COVID and engine overhaul noted - the game play is amazing. Truly amazing. But holy crap what on earth happened with the progression and predatory monetisation.

I agree that mutual respect is imperative for the on-going discourse; however, when they treat the players (real people) like a statistic, a revenue stream, like cattle for the harvest, what did they expect was going to happen?

Liked everything until I read “immensely fun game”, strongly disagree with that. The game absolutely sucks and is going to fail like the past two installments. They have not made a lasting halo game to date. Population plummet inbound.

For me the worst thing is; I went out and bought a series s and new monitor just for multiplayer and there are only two ranked playlists which are identical!!! Merry F’in Xmas - I hope you enjoy your holidays!

Gears 5 was a complete game with all its features intact and its available on game pass ultimate. No one cared about the MTX in that game because the game was done well.

The gears 5 forums were upset for quite a while with their initial store design. Other than that, all points I agree with though!

The campaign release was pretty solid for most people. I hope halo infinites campaign will be at least as good from a function standpoint

Maybe a quaint nod of the head, or a cheeky pick at the community in game.
But bending to the whim of the mob? Nah, absolutely not.

Just becasue you support McDonalds for ~10 years and spend money there does not enable you to make descisions. Feedback sure, but don’t expect anything.
Expectations will set you up for failure if you don’t temper them.
