They are Stronger or We are Weaker

Hello Halo Fans. This is something that has bothered me since Halo 4 first came out. Its the fact that enemies, particularly Elites, seem to be stronger than in Halo 3. For example, it takes 6 shots from a BR or DMR to kill an Elite Minor, while only 5 for a Spartan. Its like the ratio from Halo Reach. So does that mean that they are stronger, or that we are weaker? To me, the logical answer is that we are weaker, as Elites have had the same rough shield strength throughout the series. If you would like to make a statement on the matter, please provide evidence with your argument. Thank you.

IMO the elites are dumped down overall, just play Mythic and see for yourself, the deadly backkick from Reach is gone, and they seem “slower” it’s like they are a little overwhelmed when it comes to CQC.

And I don’t remember fighting Elites in 3, I really don’t.

I voted for the third opti … oh wait you made it a fact that they are stroger in the poll … nvm

Yup We never fought Elites in Halo 3 we fought the Brutes and the flood.
If you meant MM I don’t know i was always a Spartan never and elite.

You also have to consider that Elites were different in Campaign and Multiplayer, in Multiplayer they had less powerfull shields that would recharge faster, and their health would also recharge

In 3 the Elites were the same when it came to health, I think there were minor differences that didn’t effect gameplay (except for the headshot “problem” with the standard helm).

H3 Elites are the weakest in combat performance… they’re only good with swords.

Comparing H4 Elites to them is pointless.

> IMO the elites are dumped down overall

Agreed.

> the deadly backkick from Reach is gone

Yet easy to avoid. I’m glad it’s gone. I’m also glad Elites spend less time berserking, even though that conveyed their anger better and made them more interesting.

Yep, like H3 Brutes. Bad move.

That’s is partly due to their more realistic health, it was a good change IMO. I’m still appalled by people who want damage sponge Elites.

Now that they have less health, they need better tactics. H2-Reach neglected that, only focusing on flanking. H4 has done the same.

The game needs to stop hand-holding AI.

Halo 2 Elites are the most accurate to the novels, which are far more realistic than the more recent games, which are absurd. Two melees should NOT bring down an Elite, but that’s the legacy of Halo 3’s ridiculously overpowered melees for you.

I agree, the Elite from Reach are far stronger and more difficult to kill.

In behavior maybe. Were it not for Zealots being a former shadow of themselves and Stealth Elites having ridiculously fast recharge, I’d agree about their health/shielding.

Even on Easy?

How about some more evidence. The sniper rifle no longer is a on-hit kill on an elite miner. I always need 2-3 bullets to kill an elite, regardless of rank. In all previous Halo games, a sniper rifle was a one-hit kill/shield burst. So how is it they can survive a round to the head now? I seriously think the weapons and armor are weaker in Halo 4.

Another reason to employ a DMR or Light Rifle. They finish the job, and more efficiently.

Generally, I save the sniper for Generals. That’s what I did when I was playing Episode 7 Ch. 4 on Legendary, that mission’s swarming with Generals!!

Yeah, a bump in the noggin with a plasma rifle or needler instantly killing a Spartan, yet carbine melee attack quite literally doing 0 is so true to the novels.

ultras were cool though.
