These forums make me sad

Not hating, just saying.

It’s depressing to come in here and watch the entire front page filled with elitist people who believe they know better than anyone else, hating on a game which they know nothing about, frowning upon new players who don’t care about competitiveness and just want to have a good time, hating on each other and pretty much trying to control the tide of every discussion bringing their opinions as facts.

Halo 4 is being polished right now. There’s not much any whine, cry or complain can do before the game goes gold and the disks are packaged.

I hope I’m just reading Reach haters’ leftovers of anger towards the franchise, and I beg once Halo 4 comes out the real community arises.

A lot of people are skeptical about anything new after Reach. Reach left a bad taste in the mouths of many. You can’t really blame them for it.

However, they could be venting in a more mature manner, that much is certain.

halo 4 gives me hope

Usually when I get tired of seeing all the rage threads I go on neogaf and read the stuff in the Halo Community thread. I like to “pretend” that I’m participating in the discussion of all things Halo with the other members because I don’t have a paid for e-mail.

I hope when the game finally releases the community will be back to it’s good ol’ self posting positive and creative things to discuss on the forums. After that, the next part of the cycle will kick in and the Halo 4 hate threads will most likely appear all over the place. What I can’t wait for are the threads that have a bunch of people band together to solve mysteries. The GRD helmet one was pretty fun while it lasted, even though I had a feeling there’d be no new armour it was still fun to participate in it.

Most forums actually contain an extremely large amount of ignorance and foolishness. There seems to be no control over humanity on any forums, but what do you expect? This is the internet, the place where those little kids who hate life and hate the world come to to let-off steam. Do I believe that this is okay? Yes, as long as they’re letting it out here, where no one really cares, and not shooting up their school, then I’m perfectly fine with it. We all have to let out anger every once in a while, and most people (including myself sometimes) go to forums online to let it out and see what other people think; not necessarily a TROLL, but a type of method in which they attempt to get acknowledgment that what they believe is important.

Basically, yes, you are going to find hate, ignorance, and disrespect on forums. However, it is your job to not care and go on with your day. If you worry about every bad thing that a person says, then you will never develop in life. This is not a put-down to you or anyone else, I’m just stating my reasoning. These definitely are not facts, but this is what I’ve noticed, so yup, it is my opinion.

In all honesty, I agree with you. I have seen a lot of hate on these forums and it is a bit dissapointing.

It’s still typical reactionary BS though.

I hated Reach with a passion (Still do, but the TU made it better), and once I calmed down a little bit, Halo 4 didn’t seem so bad. I just had to think about it, accept that concessions would be made, and went on with my life.

No matter how bad Reach is, Halo 4 is not Reach. It never will be Reach.

343 isn’t that stupid.

It is just people’s opinions.

People think that every binary digit in Reach sucked. I disagree, it did some things very well.

Those same people think that Halo 3 was perfect. I disagree, it was hated at the time and still has many faults IMO.

I love Halo 2 with a passion. People think it sucked when it came out.

That is just how it works.

Until the complainers grow up and start being mature, this forum will never improve.

  1. They should stop complaining until we actually see something significant.
  2. They should realize that their opinion is not worth more than anyone else’s.
  3. They should realize that statistics don’t matter.
  4. They should realize that if something isn’t perfect doesn’t mean it needs to be chucked out.
  5. They need to realize that most people on the forums care about Halo as much as they do.
  6. They need to realize that unless they prove something mathematically they can never rightfully endear something to be true.

Thank you so much. You hit the nail on the head. I come to these forums to discuss REAL issues like armor lock, betrayals, etc. but all I end up doing is leaving angry over the constant hate and nitpicking.

I just want a place where I can talk about Halo 4 with other people who are just as excited as I am, but the Halo Waypoint forums aren’t a place for that anymore. It’s just thread after thread of mindless flame wars. The same arguments, and still none of them will change 343’s mind (Which is a good thing, considering they worked on this for almost 3 years now. They’re not just going to throw it out).

Very soon, if this keeps up, I’ll be leaving these forums for good. I just hope that 343 doesn’t even browse these forums, because I’d hate to see the game get watered back down to Halo 3.1 before release.

I wish I could say it’ll get better, but it probably won’t, given that Halo has one of the most unpleasable fanbases out there. There are many legitimate concerns that can be brought up, but instead I see elitism, dead horse level bickering, delusions of grandeur, and logical leaps that would make Giorgio A. Tsoukalos feel humbled.

Let us Have F4ith.

I truly believe Halo 4 won’t be as bad as most seem to say it will be. Everyone is jumping to conclusions, declaring the game ruined and that they’re not buying because of one new addition, such as sprint. They completely disregard the campaign, map editor, theater, and everything else in the game. I just wish people would just have some faith and at least give the game a chance. Don’t get me wrong, there are people “complaining” in the right way, but too many are just bashing the game and jumping to conclusions.

I feel your pain bro crying softly

But yeah the forums are a mess, littered with haters and stuff.

Yes, this forum is depressing, but thank God we’re here. They don’t care about how their 24/7 negativity, pessimism, ignorance and act of superiority effects anyone. They have no faith; it’s like being on your home football team and discouraging them with negative thoughts about losing (not helpful or constructive imo).

Reasoning with them is nearly impossible.

I guess I can only wait and hope for the best. I’d love to see the good old B.net users come here as frequently as they did when Reach was at its peak

I miss the good old forums during Halo 3 development… Where everyone was trying to figure out the next big step the studio was going to do and everyone trying to help each other with eastereggs they have seen in the trailers.

I honestly think everyone should try to stay away from negative forums and let them die… 343i only have shown us the tip of the ice burg… Halo 4 will be amazing I have a great feeling about it…

I like Halo CE.
I like Halo 2.
I like Halo 3.
I like Halo ODST.
I like Halo Reach.
I like Halo CEA.
I’m sure I’ll like Halo 4.

I like Halo!

Entitled gamers believe that their favourite franchise must be deliver exactly what they personally want, and usually scoff at the idea of new players becoming fans.

Entitled Haters gonna hate, its as simple as that.

Competitive players need to be vocal in order to get some competitive content in the game. It’s not like casuals have to worry about anything, since they represent 80% of Halo’s community.

> There are many legitimate concerns that can be brought up, but instead I see elitism, dead horse level bickering, delusions of grandeur, and logical leaps that would make Giorgio A. Tsoukalos feel humbled.

I agree with this. I think the biggest problem with these forums are the elitest “competitive” players that think they’re the only ones who know how to play video games. I’m no causal, and I don’t think Halo 4 should be aimed at them, but competitive players aren’t the only people that the game is made for. I don’t mind competing, I like to win and do well myself, but to take it to a level where you can’t adapt to new features and do nothing but complain is way too much.

And I have to agree with you there friend, I like Halo, and it doesn’t matter if 343 puts out Reach 2 (which they won’t), I will still love Halo. I’m not going to hate an entire game just because a feature I don’t like is in. You adapt and use the new feature, it’s that easy. I used to complain about armor abilities, until I started using them as well.

In short, get off your high horse. Don’t handicap yourself by not using jetpack and armor lock then come on the forums and complain. If you’re so good and competitive, you should know how to use each armor ability and how to counter each armor ability. The MLG players do, so I don’t see what your problem is. If MLG wanted to, they could make MLG Reach watered down to Halo basics, but they didn’t; they modified what was there to make it more fair.
