These are very sad times...

Over the last few weeks of playing this game, I have noticed something. If it looks like the enemy team is dominating slightly or a large amount, people are leaving en mass! The last game I played the beginning was pretty poor, we were 400 points behind and we had already lost 6 people on our team. We managed to win by a neck and neck boss but even so. Why are people quitting left right and centre? It almost seems to me that people don’t care or the penalty for leaving just isn’t severe enough.

I would like to know everyone else’s story, has this been happening to you? Do you stick it out to and fight to the bitter end or glorious victory?

I’m pretty sure this has been a thing since Halo 5’s release. Not entirely sure, but pretty sure.

The best way to fix that problem is to play Arena. Slayer, BTB, CTF, Strongholds, Swat, Infection … that’s how I get down in Halo 5. I’ve basically given up on Warzone. I play Assault from time to time and Firefight, but rarely do I play regular Warzone.

is this some kind of prank
people have been doing this since the existence of videogames
it is nothing new

It really sucks, I feel your pain. They really need to make the penalty for leaving more severe rather than just a slap on the wrist it should be a good wallop around the head if you catch my drift.

I agree, this isn’t anything new, but this being said it does seem to happen a lot in halo 5. People have been leaving/quitting for a while now. I never play warzone anymore unless it’s FF. Its just not halo, I’m sorry. Arena I like a lot more but ranking system isn’t the greatest. Arena is still where it’s at. It’s more like Halo and I feel less people quit unless your flying solo and have a pretty high rank, then it still happens a lot.

and yet people still claim punishments are too high…

This is no prank, these last few weeks people have just been leaving in large amounts. Like if the split is something as minor as 400-500 then it just becomes impossible. Nope, give up! Abandon ship!

i know people have disconnect issues as I had them myself until setting my IP to static. I know quitting when people are losing is nothing new but like with such small margins, it just seems pointless. I have messages the “leavers” after a game and most say that they don’t want to play a 20 minute losing match. But this game can be surprising and can change in an instant.

I will agree with one thing and that’s Warzone is basically done. Oh yeah a spartan now martini

People don’t think there is a chance at a comeback so they quit like pansies

Ya I know… But I do feel in arena, if your playing 4-4 and if two people quit on your team, you should be able to quit without a penalty. 4-3 is doable… 4-2… Nope, unless you two are halo pros. I had a few games yesterday where people on the other team quit and there was two guys left. I felt bad for them because we just slaughtered them and it wasn’t fun at all butt you don’t want to wait it out because that takes forever . They should be able to quit without penalty… it’s no fun for them, it’s no fun for us it’s just a waste of everyone’s time. The other team should still get the win but they should only get very minimal “experience” per se.

I don’t think giving a penalty to the winning team would be fair at all. Maybe if it was a guaranteed quit by a player, they would be subject to a experience and req point reduction or just not earning anything for the next game or two. Even when people quit and join in progress, its annoying to try and pick up the pieces of missing teammates.

Played a few more games last night and player quitting was getting quite bad, per the losing team we would lose on average 5-7 players per game. Even though we did lose a few, it was just an annoyance which I think could be punished fairly as per my statement above.

Many people don’t take warzone seriously… Including myself. This may be because it isn’t ranked. Plus you only get a penalty in the warzone playlists when you leave, and it’s not like someone who prefer arena would care much for having a several hour ban from a playlist they don’t care about or hardly play. No one wants to spend 20mins losing 1 match when you can play 2-3 arena matches in the same amount of time

This is a very sad community…

If it’s a farm I usually leave but other than that, I’ll throw reqs at the game to try to win

It’s exasperating, people don’t like to lose so just quit out and give up. And it only makes a bad situation worse for the remaining players. This is why I’m so glad there’s a ban system in place for quitters.

It’s even worse in Arena, as there’s no join in progress. You could be playing CTF, the enemy capture the flag making it 1-0. One of your team mates then quits out, so you’re outnumbered and have little to no chance of scoring. It sucks, and it happens way too often.

At least in previous games people didnt leave because even losing they were having fun. In Halo 5 it is nothing more than a sweaty hand fest that is hardly enjoyable. Hence the very low population and 343’s inability to increase the player population.

We want harsher penalties for quitting, yet 343 won’t go too hard on them for fear of losing them altogether.

Could be a disconnection issue.

Ive been in many very intense CTF games, with my team actually communicating (randoms) then in the most intense moments towards the end I’d lose connection. (Playing outside of the U.S btw). Same happens in warzone.

Now, I’ve been banned twice due to this. So no, the quit penalty must not be more severe or else those of us who genuinely lose connection will suffer, as the current one is sensitive as is.

I think with the population getting smaller we’re seeing the matchmaking becoming more skewed…which seems to make matches more unbalanced. It’s harder to find even matches in Warzone now. It still happens…played in a 1000-998 match a few days ago which is awesome…but anything close (within 200-300 points) seems like an anamoly.

So “yeah” seems like a lot of players quit early. Been playing more Arena, and it happens there too. Kinda hard to win CTF or Strongholds when you’re down a player.
