These aiming options are amazing

The first thing I did with the update was turn my aim acceleration to 2 and deadzones to 0. I instantly saw myself aiming better. I was landing 5 shots with the pistol way more consistently. Thank you 343

What was your sensitivity at? Also can someone explain exactly what changes are meant by dead zones? I understand aim acceleration…but a little hazy on deadzones

I can’t wait to get home and play. I am shocked this makes much of a difference.

Does it feel more like classic halo when you do this? Im installing the update right now and thats the first thing i plan on doing

sensitivity 4

accel 2

deadzone inner 5%

deadzone outer 15%

almost got it perfect

I don’t know what deadzones actually are doing for most of us. I guess not much. I Think if the Control sticks are bad the %-number should be higher to help out with slowturn or drift-issues. That’s what I Think I understand with these settings. If they do anything else that can help us Aim better…I dunno.

Perfect as in relation to what? Classic halo? Im trying to plan out the best controls for myself so please let me know!

4sens. Deadzones are a way to compensate for bad controllers. Inner deadzone leaves an area on the inside of the ring that won’t activate if the stick is moved in that area. That’s so if your controller has a bad stick it doesn’t drift or anything. The best thing to do is set it to 0% and if you don’t have any drift just leave it because it will be the most accurate controls

higher number on inner helps with drift

higher number on outer helps slow turn

honestly you just want a nice even blend of the deadzones for the stationary to pegged state

i honestly wouldnt mess with them unless you are very experienced or have played PC games with the options

yeah for me sorry. i like a “slow deliberate feel” when aiming

Right now I have 5 sens, 2 acc 12% inner DZ, and 13% outer DZ and it feels nice.

Basically inner deadzone is to adjust “drifting”. If you have a new controller you can set it to 0 and probably be fine, but if you have that issue where your screen moves when you’re not touching the stick then increasing inner DZ until it stops. Outer DZ affects “slow turn” so if you have that issue then bump it up from the default until it stops.

My only gripe is 15% is the max. I feel like 25% would be better max.

Exactly, and the best option is to buy a new controller (if you can afford it) if you end up with a deadzone. Any deadzone is an automatic handicap.

If anyone can help find the settings that make it reflect classic halo aiming i would be extremely grateful…i dont fully understand the whole deadzones aspect so, please, if someone could help me figure out good settings id appreciate it

This…omg this. I’m goin nuts tryn to figure it out.

Someone needs to put together a manual that takes what your aiming problems are and what settings you should lean too.

You can read in the latest news update from 343 what the zones do. But there’s already some good answers above that get right to the point.

https://www.halowaypoint.com/en-us/community/blog-posts/halo-5-advanced-controller-settings

2 aim acceleration
5 sensitivity
0% on both deadzones
With these tweaks it feels like Halo again to me. I have felt like I’ve been driving a car with a flat tire for the past 2 months. I got used to it for the most part, but it still sucked. So much better! Thank you for listening 343!

Op, does your settings make Halo 5 feel more like the beta from last year?
