There's only one thing wrong with H5 gameplay

and that is Spartan charge. I’m loving this game. Reminds me of h2 but fast. It’s super fun to run around as this highly mobile Spartan. Weapons are balanced, maps are beautiful, cant say enough good things.

the ranking system is retarded but that’s not gameplay and not for this thread.

Some me of the maps play like -Yoink- but that’s true of every shooter ever made.

so what’s the one thing wrong with h5 gameplay?

spartan charge.

If you have ur pistol out and someone pops up with an ar and hits u with a charge ya next to impossible to win that. Spartan charge rewards thoughtless unskilled playing and it completely ruins FFA. I hate it.

They need to increase the cool time because being able to hit full momentum with a second after sprinting is too damn soon.

As someone with -Yoink!-, I dont appreciate that wording, but I agree that the rankings in H5 suck.

It’s just another mechanic you need to learn to out play, there is a counter measure being thrusters to prevent being charged, and to be honest it is very much a risk, reward move.

You do have a chance to hit your target, possibly get a kill. But it’s not 100%. The chance for them to dodge, or even smack you mid charge is a big possibility.
Adapt to the games design rather then changing it.

^ there’s your typical “get good” response if anyone was waiting for that.

I’m gay and I do not actually care for playing insulting something by calling it “gay”, just realize that they are repeating wording that they have grown up with.

Why not make the momentum decrease after a while?

Took long enough.

I remember trying to defend the Monument on Noctus and was doing well for the most part. There was only one enemy player left so I scoured the outer rim and once I found and weakened him he fled to the center area.

Just as I was nearing the end of the outer hallway (realistically this is the only way to attack someone in the middle sculpture area) out comes his teammate Sprinting around the corner and instakills me with Spartan Charge.

I was livid. Like, I could understand if you were planning to do something like this and it was my fault for being unprepared, but I’m hugging the wall at the end of a narrow hallway and he’s just running in at full health. I had exactly zero chance to dodge it. The ONLY way out of that would have been to never attempt to finish off the player from before, which goes against the entire premise of defending the base.

I mean, there have been many times where I have missed people with a spartan charge and people have missed me with a charge. Whenever I miss someone with it 9 times out of 10 I’ll be killed, usually by a backslap, but if someone misses me with it I capitalize on it and usually get the kill. It’s a risky maneuver that is most effectively used when the player you are charging is distracted and can be countered fairly easily by dodging it with a side thrust or a jump or some combination of the two right as the charger starts their melee. If you miss the charge you need a split-second to recover and usually that is all someone needs to do massive damage and usually get a kill. It can be a powerful move if used correctly, but it’s hardly overpowered, especially if the charger’s shields are already down and you still have shield to spare the best thing to do is take the hit and melee immediately afterwards, practically a guaranteed kill for the defender.

Take out ADS and then the game is fine.

I see a lot of complaints about Spartan Charge, but never understand them. I guess its because I’ve never had a huge problem with it. I’ve had a few games where I have been charged multiple times, and it angered me a bit. Probably more so because I’m not as good at doing it. I’ve tried to use it to fight back since it angered me, and ended up missing the charge more than hitting it, or hitting it, not getting the kill, and then getting crossed up instantly with nary an assist to show for it.

It ruins FFA only on overgrowth, but overgrowth is just very very bad map, that needs to be removed from ffa playlist. On every other map its impossible to use spartan charge+SR combo to win on high ranks

Only one thing? Lol.

Outplaying it is near impossible, spartan charge hitbox is waaay to big. It’ll hit you even if you dash away the second you see the opponent using sprint on you. And the new lag that came with the latest update does not help that.

My close friend hates it whenever we say gay in the context of a negative description like “that’s gay” and he’s bi. Which is understandable. It may not bug you, but people react differently.

Not that I’m trying to make a big deal out of this or anything. I just pointed it out that it could’ve been worded better than moved back on subject.

Smart scoping is actually well-integrated in H5. It’s not like other shooters where it hinders your movement speed.

But that’s literally what his record shows.

Pre-season he grinds out ~700 games and gets Onyx.
Next 2 seasons, he only gets like ~200, then ~100 in and gets primarily Diamond.

That should be expected.

It’s not an issue of pride or whatever it is people make it out to be on the forums, it’s just a matter of dedication. The people who play more are the ones who will continually adapt to the tactics which worked in the previous season.

Those who don’t grind enough, will be the ones constantly one step behind on learning the best new strategies & polishing up the gameplay bit by bit.

Spartan charge is “so 2 seasons ago.” I had it used against me & failed sometimes, but kept practising until I could deal with it effectively. Now, I just laugh as I watch people go flying by & get desperate as they start out the battle 3-4 shots down due to charge cooldown. You won’t see it used nearly as much at Onyx tier now as it used to be when the game came out, now it’s a High Plat/Low Diamond trick. Of course it still ‘works’ at any level, it’s just an issue of how much you can get away with.

While it doesn’t hinder your movement, the sights on everything, except the classic BR and the long sight, are worse than just shooting from the hip, they add clutter to the HUD and provide a less clear POV almost every time. The sentinel sight for example, double zoom should be amazing, but all you can see is the stupid glare on both sides!

Guys you realise Spartan Charge is the nerf to just normal Sprinting and Melee? Spartan charge is fine. Trust me when they remove it you’ll wish it was back because too mayn people were sprinting and using melee.

Then don’t use it I suppose? I don’t see how having the option to use it or not makes it a problem. At least not in the way it was in Halo 4. Again, this is another one of those complaints that I don’t understand probably simply because I shoot from the hip 90% of the time anyway, and since ADS isn’t a mechanic that is relied upon like other FPS games, not using it, and shooting like you did in previous Halo games is a viable option.

THIS
Sprint into double melee is rendered almost impossible thanks to this mechanic.

It’s only con however is that it ruins assassination attempts 99.9% of the time, but that I can live with.

Halo 4 didn’t have ADS, it had traditional Halo scoping, and only on weapons that needed it? (About the only thing the multiplayer did right…)

Like you say, I also don’t use it and shoot from the hip more often then not, but in the case of the BR, Magnum, and sometimes the DMR, it’s just a downgrade compared to what we had before. This becomes even more baffling considering that a classic sight exists in the game, now even more so with the presence of the Halo 2 BR.
