There's nothing wrong with Chief's new armour.

I love it. If I had it in Reach I would wear the crap out of it (And I change my armour at least 20 times a day, so that’s saying something)

I don’t get why people are making such a big fuss, the armour looks WAY better then Mark VI, which was getting OLD, specifically five years old. Time for change.

Mark VII, I shall call it, is a very interesting evolution of Mark VI that (If you are SO obsessed with canon, dunno why though, the story’s more important then the game play to some people) would probably have these properties:

Ability to hold forerunner AI (Like it holds Cortana)
Holds advanced shield systems that charge faster/ are stronger
Compatible with forerunner technology.
Was probably made with salvaged materials and whatever the forerunners left on that shield world (?)

To finish, the armour is incredible, and does not need to fit canon, so long as it is good looking and people approve.

Now that I think about it, people only complain about how he got it, not how it looks…

So do YOU like the look of it?

EDIT: Here’s the armour. Enjoy!!Mark VII armour.

See, that’s the best part: It’s going to fit canon, since Frankie has said that his new armour will be explained in game

I would have killed myself if he had Mark VI in Halo 4 ALL OVER AGAIN. I am very -Yoinking!- glad that his armor changed, it looks way better now.

Excited that it still isn’t the final version of Chief’s armor so the possibility of seeing improvements on it is high. MC looks much scarier (don’t take it the wrong way, his armor doesn’t actually instill fear in me) and intimidating with this “Mark VII” armor, kinda gives you the feeling that Halo 4 is gonna be a darker game than past Halo titles.

I agree with this post.

And the canon is already there. The armour was upgraded using nanotech while Chief was in cryo.

Nanotech eh? Meh, doesn’t bother me, but where was the nanotech during the other games? :stuck_out_tongue:

Chief’s armor can’t change because of nanotech because his armor doesn’t have it. He has Mk.VI while Naomi-010 has Mk.VII, the armor with nanotech.

Honestly, 343 is going to have to do some real BSing to justify Chief’s armor changing.

Like it matters that much.

Nice to see folks not give a damn about the canon.

Actually no. In Glasslands, Halseys journal mentions, without saying directly, that the Mark VI and the Mark VII have no differences in terms of nanotech, just features. Therefore, Mark VI SHOULD hvae the ability, and it most likely does due to what we’ve seen in the trailer.

Even though despite the fact NOTHING has mentioned Chief’s current armor having the nanotech while we know Naomi’s new armor does.

But there is a chance that it has the ability, and it’s the only logical explanation for the teaser trailer armour.

Or they could be the result of Forerunner enhancements. 343 could’ve gone that route instead of shoehorning nanotech into Halo 4.

Chief was on a destroyed UNSC ship. I don’t see how Forerunners could have upgraded the suit, but it is just as much a possibility as the nanotech, as we have no way of currently knowing for sure which is right.

The teaser could represent what Chief’s armor will look like later on in the game, not fresh from cryo. He could stumble upon a Forerunner combat skin or it’s parts to repair his armor throughout the game.

The only issue I have is the BBC(Big Black Cup)he’s wearing, hope they change that.

The way I see it, he is going to have his old armor when he wakes up. At some point, that armor will become damaged and he will either receive new armor from the UNSC (if they’re in the game) or upgrade it via Forerunner technology.

Very possible as well. I like the idea a lot in fact.

I quite like the new armour,

Im glad they decided to release his new concept armour on the initial and only Halo 4 trailer we have at the moment. Halo 4 and MasterChief does need a change, a ‘slight change’ at that but a fresh and subtle addition to appearance is a healthy change for the player and franchise.

In terms of cannon, yes maybe 343 does have some excuses to throw at us for the change but as long as they are not radically unbelieveale i don’t see why its a problem. They may and probably do have a reasonable good explanation for his changes which may make perfect sense to us when revealed.

However i do have to disagree with your statement about ‘does not need to fit canon’, unfortunately for many Halo fans and specifically fiction dedicated fans, canon is everything. You cannot simply add, change or remove something in such a heavily fiction based universe as Halo and not expect flames. For the casual player however there is an exception and will in this case be acceptable, ‘for their cause’. But pleasing both audiences is impossible.

His crotch guard?

He needs a real codpiece.
