There's no way desync is as bad an issue as some of you're making it out to be

You aren’t looking at the right clips then.

I have a bunch of clips on my YT but I’m not here to self advertise.

I’m on a Xbox One with 100 Mbps internet, Open NAT and I desync all the time, it’s the main reason I don’t play anymore.

I don’t ever get terrible lag in any other game, it’s literally just halo infinite.

Is it location thats the issue? I have a server nearby thats just about an hour drive away, so it really shouldn’t be.

Occasionally It happens to me (playing on Series x/plugged into ethernet with a very solid connection), mostly I experience it in BTB but also on behemoth and launch site. I think any map/mode that has vehicles is the biggest offender, but I’ve also had matches where my headshots/melees just don’t count at all.

I have a series of videos on my youtube channel outlining desync, the channel is called Project Zell and the videos are titled, objection.

Latency is caused by time taken between your connection and the server, vs the other players time between the server and other players. This is displayed in game via the ping. Speed between your connection and the server. It was more easily distinguished back when halo was host based, not server based.

Desync occurs when there is latency from the server back to your client. This causes issues like bullets going through walls, rockets de spawning mid flight, back taps not registering and having no effect, bars on captured hills jumping/ moving at an irregular pace, oddball time jumping.

The server side issues and client side issues are desync.
There’s a video of two people in the same lan game using the warthog, the driver and gunner have two different perspectives on where they are in the game at the same time.

There’s plenty of evidence and an entire article from 343i on the topic to back the fact it does exist. I have experienced desync, most of the people on the forums have, HCS players have, it has been streamed and documented thousands of times at this point.

Kudo’s to you for not running into it yourself, that must be nice.
However, that’s not to say someone in any of the games you have played- either on your team or against you, have not encountered it.

This topic and the OP have baited the entire forum with this thread, and im unsure why it hasn’t been locked as of yet, but the moderators seem to have different preferences on what they will lock/ hide and what they wont based on who’s posting.

All in all, the drop pod (patch) slated to fix desync will be very welcome for the majority of the halo playerbase at this point.

As I said before my desync issues was kinda resolved, but after I played a couple of days I still have issues I believe. I mean it’s not so awful like it was before, but I saw a couple of deaths behind the walls here and there.
The things that looks weird to me are melee trades, melee lunge and hammer damege range.
Melee trades are everywhere. I can’t remember any situation where it wasn’t a trade.
Melee lunge is weirdly huge.
Hammer damage range looks huge too, I mean one shot range when I have full shield.
And one more thing with a sword. Why everytime I shoot sword carrier and prepare to finish him with melee my melee doesn’t work at all. I see melee animation at the moment of his lunge but he always killing me, melee do no damage? Is it a lag, I mean all I said from trades to sword vs melee?

I live in south central US, with 400mbs internet, a wired connection, on series X.

I frequently experience just enough lag every other game (depending on how lucky I get with ping and which server I get thrown on).

I’ve never experienced the hardcore desync where my game is completely thrown off but I experience what I believe everyone refers to as desync when there is a latency lag between each person, resulting in taking shots around corners, killed through cover, grenades/rockets doing little or no damage and melees being inconsistent. When you’re playing higher level ranked competitive play where the players aren’t complete doodoo, trust me, you really start to notice it a lot

It doesn’t need to be a ‘bad’ issue.

It is an issue with this release and it needs fixed, that’s about it.

That sure was a lot of headshots for him to not die.

No assist or kill?

How in the hell is that not a kill?

Internet is 100 Mbps Down. BTW.

And all but one of these have happened in the last couple of hours

It doesn’t have to be just “bad”. There’s only so many times you can get f’d over in a game and still play it.

I’ve never had any issues like this with any other FPS game.

Since this thread was bumped, here’s a Reddit thread made on May 13, two days after this thread died. It shows proof that de-sync (specifically whiffed punches and dud explosions) happen in split-screen and LAN setups.

Desync paired with high ping is unpredictable. Its really annoying.
Desync happens also in low ping matches.
Lately played a few matches with 110ms-130ms. Sticky grenades flying through the body, shot behind corner, got kill messages with 1 second delay and so many other issues.

That’s really bad. So, it has nothing to do with connection speed. Or even servers. Its literally built into the game.

They really f’d up the development of this game. Their policy with contract workers needs to go. It’s like they had to restart parts of development every 8 months.

Halo Infinite is the first time I’ve ever heard of desync.

How in the world did this get through QA?

Does that just go to prove that players saying they don’t experience it are just outright lying that they never experience it?
Or are there more circumstances that are more likely to have certain individuals experience it than others?
I often get smacked with the “oh get better internet” but I have 200 up and 20+ down pretty consistently, fiber optic.
Im guessing region has something to do in possibly exacerbating some users?
But with it happening so much on LAN its hard to guess…
I’m imagining its just showing that theres denialists that will just refuse to acknowledge it or don’t know how to recognize it.

My ping is in the low 20’s. Interment is 100 down. And it happens multiple times. EVERY GAME I PLAY.
