There's a very clear and simple reason the population is decliing

While I agree not having a real progression system is a major issue I would say most of my friends have left due to gameplay issues like desync and broken aim vs not having a progression system.

They yoinked up Tactical Slayer by adding in crap guns that “most” don’t like. SO now it’s just not fun to play. Plus we’ve all made it to 100 on the battle pass plus the weekly’s suck plus it’s summer.

The sole reason I’ve stopped playing is because I’m unable to choose the game type I’d like to play, instead I have to choose Rumble Pit (I like Free for All Slayer) and go through a load of games I don’t enjoy.

Its not just the battlepass. The gameplay loop got boring fast, we only got 2 maps in almost a year, and the sandbox in itself has been a mess from day one. In general its not very fun to play. Other games out there are offering more for my time tbf

343: *Miserly wrings hands togethe while looking lustfully at an Excel Spreadsheet showing profit margins*
343: B-B-B-But how do we tak… Er, how else do we incentivize people to give us their Money?

Thats not fair! I learn from my mistakes all the time - like don’t waste time on a game whose being managed by a bunch of greedy goblins who emphasize micro-transactions while neglecting the creation of an engaging core game with new and refreshing events.

Lets be more specific - Why does 343 never learn from their mistakes or the mistakes of others?

Toning back my melo-drama, this is probably why Halo fans are frustrated to the point of fed up with 343: Infinite isn’t an outlier in terms of quality on release - it’s a new low given their live service approach. Their glacial development pace, poor communication, and lack of new content doesn’t engender good will/faith. Lump on a healthy Live Service gold rush and you have a recipe for a disgruntled/angry player base who sees the repeated failure and leave the game/community.

I think 343 is literally just messing with us at this point.

I mean as someone who uses the mark v[b] core i didn’t buy the season 2 battlepass because why put effort into it for stuff i can’t use yet also i don’t feel like giving infinite money after seeing that roadmap that barely had any good info on it

Also you might want to add lack of content and horrible dysync OP

*correction it took years and a fan mod getting shutdown for it to happen

If the backlash from el dewito being shut down didn’t happen halo mcc would still be the broken mess that it was to this day and there wouldn’t be a pc port

Like as someone who stuck with mcc since the first patch and release of odst i will admit that it wouldn’t have gotten the support it deserved if ElDewito didn’t happen

My friends and I never finished the first battlepass. Its probably having some effect on decline, but its certainly not the only one.

There is a serious lack of PVE and of progression.

The progression is a major reason I don’t play, but as a completionist, the amount of stuff locked behind paywalls in the store also makes me uninterested in playing. It makes me feel like a chump, like if I buy the BP they will continue to strip the good stuff from it and sell it in bundles.

If it were the Reach system I would still play regularly

It definitely doesn’t feel like there is as much chaos or fun in the game as there use to be. I wouldn’t mind that, if things were going in a more tactical battlefield style direction, but they aren’t.

People are missing the point of the OP. The RECENT drop in numbers is due to the battlepass and events being completed. Not the gradual decline

REF: Custom Games:

IMHO the reason I think is there are way to many issues with this game.

  1. The custom games area has been broken since the release 9mos. ago
  2. No Custom Game Browser
  3. Forge not released with the game release 9mos ago.

IMHO you really can’t blame people for not playing this game all that much if you think about it with all the issues this game has. :confounded:

Peace! :fist_right: :fist_left:

I play each week to unlock the Ultimate Challenge reward but then don’t touch the game until next weekly reset. This means I tend to play Tue/Wed and sometimes Thu evenings but that’s all.

If I had a long term rank I could be earning XP towards I would likely play more, at least to get the daily XP for games played if nothing else.

The current system doesn’t really entice me enough to keep playing beyond the capstone challenge.

Edit: I’ve completed the battle Pass so that enticement was over a while ago.

I’d almost certainly have played more this week (to complete the weekly challenges) if I hadn’t completed the Battle Pass. Hell, after every game I’m now reminded that I’ve completed the Battle Pass and would I like to upgrade it to premium - this also reminds me that any XP I earn is presumably just wasted. So I don’t bother playing. If there was a way to ‘save up’ the XP for use on the next Battle Pass when it arrives, then I think I’d have played more this week.

Also, I missed the first season so again I’d still be playing (now leveling up the Season 1 Battle Pass) if only I could equip the old Battle Pass. The FAQ claims that “All Battle Passes in Halo Infinite are permanently available and upgrading to the premium Battle Pass is always an option” but it seems that this does not apply to the Season 1 Free Battle Pass because I can’t seem to figure out how to equip it. I can understand that the multiplayer-only version of this game is free-to-play and that it needs to have paid-content so I’m fine with there being a Premium version of each Battle Pass and even with the Premium Battle Pass being required for the player to switch Battle Passes at the time of their choosing, BUT:

  1. Players who have purchased the Campaign should get the Premium Battle Passes included (perhaps they do already, I’m waiting for split-screen Co-Op to be added before I buy the Campaign), AND
  2. The Free Battle Passes should NOT expire but, instead of being able to choose when you switch between them, you should have to complete all other Battle Passes first. Once you have completed your equipped Battle Pass, the game should auto-equip the most-recent incomplete Battle Pass (unless you have any incomplete Premium Battle Pass(es) in which case the most-recent incomplete Premium Battle Pass would be equipped first)

Welcome to the forum! (The forum said this was your first post here).

I think the Free Battle Passes should be equippable from previous seasons, I didn’t realise you can only go back and do premium/paid battle passes from previous seasons. This is something I think 343i should change in the future.

I do like the fact you can choose/switch between them when you want though. If someone joined in a few years time and had to play through all the old passes first it might be a bit annoying if they wanted the latest stuff.

Thanks.

I might just be being thick, but I certainly cannot find a way to equip the Season 1 Battle Pass (I’ve not purchased either of the Premium Passes).

I agree, being able to switch between the Battle Passes whenever you want would be better (and should 100% remain possible if you buy the Premium pass). I’m just mindful of the fact that 343 is more-likely to pay their staff to work on this if there is an incentive for buying the Premium Battle Pass, hence my suggestion of only being able to manually switch to a Premium Battle Pass and having to rely on auto-equip when you complete a Battle Pass in order to get onto a Free Battle pass.

I suppose an alternative would be to pop-up a menu when you complete a Battle Pass allowing you to select any previous Battle Pass, rather than having to complete potentially 10 seasons of battle passes to get the Season 1 free pass in future. Again, if you have purchased a Premium pass you should be able to switch to it at any time of your choosing.

You can’t.

About a week before Season 2 started, 343 came out and said that you could not continue with the Free Battle Pass from Season 1. The only way to access it, is to purchase the Season 1 Premium Pass. So, unless you purchase the Season 1 Premium Pass, you can’t go back to Season 1 and get the unlocks from there (and to be fair, the free unlocks in Season 1 are absolute garbage with the sole exception of the MK7 helmet).

Up until about last week, this used to be worse - if you purchase the Pass, you get a fourth slot. Except when the second season started, the fourth slot disappeared even if you owned Season 1’s Pass. Making ranking up your Premium pass harder because you didn’t fork up $10 for the new one. This took half of Season 2 to fix.

As for the rest of your post, if you own Season 1 Premium, there should be an option to switch between the current and former Battle Pass at will in the hub where you’ll see the BP, Event (if applicable) and your Challenges portal.
